    Might be warming up but the rain is on the way now, doesn’t look too bad for the beginning of the week so should get out a bit then and it will be more than my life’s worth to go out next Saturday or Sunday, might treat myself to Boxing Day foxing ?

    Arrr, the elevenses, well that was also my responsibility, we went with, corned beef and potato pie, leek and potato soup ( cooked with a lot of cream and white wine) some tiger bread for dipping and bramble gin and Prosecco, I couldn’t tell you if any of the food was nice because I didn’t get a look in, they destroyed the lot before I’d finished handing out drinks ?

    Another day over and despite me thinking it wasn’t going to be a good day due to a few of our main drivers being open and very cold and not getting off to a good start with the first drive, it turned into a cracking day with a beating team that properly put the effort in, allowing me to let all that were shooting to stand all day.     I just like a sit up bike now, I can’t be doing with laying across a fuel tank anymore, the mind is willing but the body is weak my brother has one of them big BMW GS’s and it’s probably the heaviest bikes I’ve ever ridden but it’s lovely to ride

    Feeding this morning ahead of tomorrow and it was absolutely freezing, the temperature never changed from getting there to when I left, not loads of birds about but the drives with thick cover seem to be holding a few, and who can blame them not wanting to be in the cold of the open drives, we’ll see how tomorrow goes and what’s about after their 3 week break and make a decision if we carry on until the end of the season, speaking to next door, he’s in the same boat as us, not masses about, if nowt else it’s a day out with friends ?

    I’ve just been looking on evilbay and between 1700 and 2k will get you a tidy early 2000 thundercat, I think it’s time I kicked off my midlife crisis and got another bike, it’s been about 6 years now since I last owned one, I had a Kawasaki er6n that I bought new in 2010 but that got nicked in 2016, that was a really fun bike to ride, 650 mini twin, not really fast but you couldn’t half fling it about and I never once felt like I was going to come off it

    I absolutely loved them but never got around to owning one, in the mid 2000’s I had a vtr firestorm ( big heavy slug ) and a lad I used to go on rides out with had a yammy thunderace that thing was crazy fast, I think he used to get sick of waiting for me to catch up

    The XR’s have always been good money, I always wanted a XR650 but couldn’t bring myself to pay the money, closest I got was a ttr600, big, heavy and slow, but lovely to ride my brother swapped a gsxr750 track bike that he crashed at cadwell park for this, proper big old thumper, he was going to move it on but loves it and uses it for plodding around town

    I was the same, I regretted it as soon as it was in the back of some Hartlepool monkey hangers van I’ve had a few fast road bikes, gsxr’s zx9r cbr1000rr and none were as much fun as being on something going down a road and thinking “ I’m sick of tarmac “ and just going across a field, maybe I’m just getting old but the new road bikes are just to fast for me now my mate lent me his for a couple of days over the summer and it scared the sh*t out of me, I went out on it 3 times thinking I would get used to it but every time though one false move and it would kill me

    I had a 2003 drz400e it was a bike I could ride for hours on or off road, just wasn’t as exciting as a 2 stroke, I can’t find the picture of my cr500 bud have found my 96 cr250 and my first road bike when I went legal and done my test

    Yeah, that was a proper enduro bike when I got it, daytime MOT, map pocket in the seat, enduro tank, it was geared a bit different as well, still didn’t stop it going everywhere on its back wheel

    Yeah they do, you can get a bore kit for them to take it to 750, the thing is with the maico is the whole bike was built as one where as the early cr500 and kx500 was just “ let’s stick a big engine in a 125”and see what happens, the handling, braking and weight balance was shocking, but they didn’t half bloody shift, I only had it a few months and swapped it for a cr250, wish I still had it now, they do silly money for a good restored one

    I had one of them, I think it was 2000 one of the first after the wr400, I also had a Honda cr500, I’m trying to find a picture of it, now that would scare the sh*t out of me, whoever thought a 500 2stroke was a good idea clearly had something wrong with them ?

    Love the dt125, I had one of them for the field when I was 16, that set me off on my love of the crosser, never restored any but spent the best part of my 20’s rebuilding them and just keeping them going, this is my favourite, it was road registered when I got it but I thought it might kill me if I kept using it on the road, I loved a 2 banger ?

    Next door seen me in the garage with the doe, asked if I was allowed to kill deer, I explained to him the what’s and wherefore’s and said would he like some when it’s been butchered, he looked at me like I’d just took a sh*t on his chest ? and said he’d stick to Tesco, this is a 70 year old bloke, surely his meat hasn’t come rapped in plastic all his life ? I don’t understand people

    Just needed to get out for a bit today, so the plan was a last light deer stalk, got to my mates place an hour before dark and set off for a wander, it was already-3 and with the breeze felt a good bit colder than that, I’d seen 2 within 10 minutes of being there but was not able to get anywhere near them and they soon hopped the beck onto next doors land, following the beck a long I seen another doe that soon turned into 3, using the edge of the field along the beck as cover I managed to get within 70 yards of them, laying on the frozen ground and adjusting the bipod I was nice and steady on

    Spicy beef with orzo pasta for dinner today, used some tiny chillis off the father-in-law, I only put 3 in and it almost melted my head ? and a 12” square corned beef and potato pie for the missus to take to work tomorrow because apparently the NHS are having their office party, I suppose they deserve it, they work hard

    I won’t do it now, when I was gaffer at a chemical haulage company I was on call all Christmas and new years, I regularly got called out on Christmas Day, the money was unbelievable but it was a right arse on when you were halfway through the festivities and had to leave and swap the Christmas jumper for a chemical suit and gas mask
