  1. Rich people, the gun shop I use supplies the grouse moor with bismuth, he must rub his hands together when the season starts get out there, I’m just about to head up to the sheep farm, bollock’s to the rain
  2. I said that to the lad in the shop, if it worked out at 5 quid a round the likes of you and me would still pay it because we can and it’s what we love to do, but for some it’s pricing them out, I know an old boy who loves his shotgun shooting, he lives in a private rental ( because the council don’t give a sh*t about housing the likes of him) and is really struggling with the way everything has gone up, when I seen him a week or so ago he said he hadn’t been out on the pigeons because it was a toss up between electric or cartridges, I went home and got everything I had left over from last seas
  3. He said that at the end of last year the average was an increase of about £27 on a 1000 and he thinks it will be at least the same again, he said the stuff I put through my.243 could get up to 2 quid a round, he was having a rant saying it was just a back handed way of getting people to buy lead free
  4. No, I think I’ve missed 1 this year with the NV on the.243 but it will break my heart if I miss now with the cost of ammo, the lad in the shop said they are expecting a big jump in shotgun cartridges
  5. Out and zeroed the .223 and .243 today after clearing and swapping the scopes, the.243 was just 4 clicks up which I had expected as I marked everything before I removed it, the NV was an absolute mile out but it’s 1 shot zero works a treat, with a bit of luck I won’t miss now because I went to the gun shop on the way home, got 20 for the .243 and 40 for the.223 and got very little change from 90 quid
  6. This is at Hurworth ( Darlington) there was no snow when I left at 4 but I went over to Northallerton and there was a light covering there the house is owned by two retired GP’s who bought it 30 years ago and have done nothing to it in that time, it’s not far from derelict, it used to be more than 1 property but was changed to one big house in the early 1900’s, it’s got 9 acres of garden and you can see it would of been well kept when they bought it, you could easily chuck half a million quid at it and it still wouldn’t be finished, it’s shocking inside, but it seems they are now doing al
  7. Was meant to be off this week but when someone shows me the queen’s head I can very rarely say no, but sometimes I wish I had,2 walls taken down and 1500 Victorian bricks cleared to be reused
  8. I found the day image on the alpex was slightly better than the C50 and I couldn’t see any difference at night, what I also like about the alpex is the dusk mode is automatic where as you have to switch between them on the C50, saying that I’ve used them both and I wouldn’t have a problem owning either of them
  9. I’ve been a bit put off them from a couple of people, a lad I know works for a company where he gets to review loads of NV and thermal from all the major manufacturers and he got one to test and slated it, so much so they wouldn’t print his review and someone else I know bought one and had nothing but bother with it, they wanted him to send it to them for repair but couldn’t tell him when he would get it back, in the end where he got it from gave him a refund and he bought a C50 that he’s had no problem with, but when you read the reviews on them people seem to love them
  10. Just ya basic chicken dinner today, she said the roasties were a bit crispy but that’s how I like them, homemade chicken gravy, none of that bisto sh*te
  11. What I read this morning was the guardian reported it was a 6 episode series and they pulled the 6th, the bbc say is a 5 episode series and the other is a separate film made with the RSPB and WWF, so that will be a film blaming everyone else apart from themselves for the state of nature in this land
  12. I want one to go on the.223, I’m due a good pay day in a few weeks so I think that will be my treat out of it
  13. Yeah, if I’m just out for the fun of it I still don’t think you can beat the lamp the weather looks crap from the next week, bloody typical when I’m off most of the week, well my rifles are plastic and I’m sure I won’t melt
  14. I don’t have a problem with anyone who is against sporting shooting, whether that’s clays, deer stalking, pheasants, grouse, it’s there opinion and they are entitled to it but it’s their blinkered view that annoys me, the financial benefits and the management of the countryside that comes from shooting far outweighs anything that would be put in place if it was to be stopped, every time I read another report or something in the media it’s just another stick to beat us with, you have them pushing for a lead ban, when the shooting sector is responsible for a tiny amount of lead in the environmen
  15. It wasn’t that long ago that someone was showing something that some MP had written where they wanted all firearms to be removed from public ownership, so the majority of us would have to prove we needed them as a tool for a job and the average hobby shooter who just has permission on some land would have to surrender them, I thought it was just a load of sh*t but the more you read into it and the more people listen to these cranks nothing would surprise me now
  16. What happened in Plymouth was 100% the fault of Devon and Cornwall firearms, yet, instead of the shooting organisations ( BASC in particular) calling them out on it, they have all just rolled over and accepted whatever they come up with, trying to get themselves off the hook and positioning the blame on SGC and FAC owners, I can’t see how it will ever work putting shotguns as section 1 as you need a specific reason for holding a section 1 where as for a shotgun all you need to say is you want to bust some clays on a weekend, the whole thing is heading in the wrong direction, who knows where we
  17. Thought I’d do a little write up as I haven’t bothered much lately, Well the snow stopped play, I just couldn’t see anything through the scope, the plan for the evening was to have a call for a fox and clear up a few more hares, anyway I headed towards the wood in the light snow, shooting 3 hares and a rabbit off the front field as requested by the farmer as he’s still getting bothered by people chucking dogs over the fence, I’m really enjoying the little.17 at the minute and it’s preformed admirably lately. Well, this is where it all ends, by the time I had gotten to my favourite fox calling
  18. Chicken balti for me tonight, some orange sh*te out the freezer for her because she’d rather eat that crap than real food
  19. Today I’ve been taking to my mates dad, ( who I buy my feed wheat from ) he was asking me if we’d be putting our syndicate fees up for the coming season, I said I don’t think so ( depends on price of poults) he then told me that his fees have gone up almost £2000, ( it’s a private syndicate of farmers and business owners) now his syndicate is a million miles from mine, they have 10 guns ( members) they release 7000 birds and have a full time keeper, when I started working a few numbers out each day will cost somewhere around £750 a gun, as they shoot 13 days in the season, even if they get the
  20. Stunning landscape, you are very lucky to be able to hunt in them surroundings ?
  21. Bit more than just some concrete to come up and a foundation, all the yard pulled up, all new drainage in ( old drainage was backed up to the street, posh people’s sh*t stinks the same as mine) just started pulling the floors up in a couple of out building’s and going down 400 by hand because I can’t get the digger in
  22. New job today, apparently a load of concrete to come up and foundation to go in, I’ll have to watch my P’s and Q’s here, they are a bit posh, I called him mate and he looked at me like I’d taken a sh*t on his chest
  23. There’s something therapeutic about sitting in a room tinkering away I’ve not had the.223 that long and it’s the first time I’ve owned one, I cleaned it properly and what a dirty round that is, it looked like I’d been shooting coal bullets through it
