Feeding first thing this morning a head of Saturdays shoot, my god it was cold but at least it wasn’t wet, -5 when I got there this morning and still -2 when I left at 11am, there wasn’t masses of birds about but what I did see was looking very good, the recent cold weather has really sorted them out, it’s looking like this cold snap is here to stay for a while yet so with a bit of luck they will be feeding hard and I can put them where I want them -
Don’t be blaming them ewes for that ?
-
At my other job this morning, -5 when I got here ? still -2 when I left at 11am
-
That cat now thinks it’s got a new member of staff ?
-
We have an agreement, it doesn’t come anywhere near me and I won’t stamp it into the carpet ?
-
It horrible mate, when I agreed to it I didn’t realise how long they lived

My missus used to be the charity accountant for a local hospital and they are well worth donating to, as every penny goes back into the hospital, it’s spent on equipment not just spunked on managers nights out, she even set up where you could donate to certain wards so you knew where and what your donation was been used for. She said there’s a very well known children’s hospital in London that is sat on millions and very little of that money goes into the hospital, she also said the air ambulance is a worthy charity but you need to donate directly because 3rd party collectors are just mini bus
-
Absolutely bloody horrible things, as I write this the missus cat is looking at me like it wants me to die, this thing is about 20 years old now and I’m sure it only stays alive to piss me off, it’s a house cat now and won’t go outside, again, probably because it knows I hate it been in the house, why anyone would want one of these disgusting things in their house is beyond me, I often tell the missus I could happily dispatch it, put it in the bin and go about my day, she loves the bloody thing and treats it like a baby, it’s just plain weird

Was meant to be putting concrete in for a plant room today but as it’s going to be finished floor I can’t risk it freezing so I might just have the rest of the week off ?

I full support that everyone should be able to live their lives the way they want to, but I draw the line with port drinkers, what’s wrong with you man ? ? -
I understand that if it’s a grant then it should take longer ( maybe not months) if they are doing their checks properly, but for the likes of us that have renewed a number of times and nothing has changed, surely it’s just a case of getting the medical form and reprinting your ticket with a different date, or am I missing something
-
Bye, you don’t look old enough ??
-
Yours was ridiculous mate, a straight forward renewal, nothing changed and you have held a FAC for years, yet it took 9 months and instead of just renewing your ticket they mad themselves more work and put you on at temp one, the mind boggles ?
-
That’s a lot quicker than a lot of others but that’s still a joke, my mate renewed his a few months ago and that took about 6 weeks, he was told to do it online because if he did it by post it would go to the bottom of the pile, it took him 3 weeks to get the medical form done at the doctors, so in reality firearms only took about 3 weeks to do his renewal, I think mines due in 2024, I might send it in now just to be on the safe side ?
-
That’s the thing though, if you are paying 4/5 even 6 times what it is now you would expect a proper service, what I was reading the other week said it could only be put down to resources, I think if you want a good service you have to pay for it
-
I’d have no problem paying that for a good service, spread out over 5 years it’s nothing, I’ve been lucky here, Cleveland firearms have been spot on, but I’ve heard some people having a right carry on even as something as simple as a renewal where nothing has changed, if they can change it by charging £240, just do it, but provide the service people expect, if firearms said to me, it’s going to cost you £1 a day to keep your FAC and SGC I would have no problem paying that as I think having them is worth that to me
-
That’s a shocking service, I was reading something a few weeks ago, I can’t remember which force it was but the person that worked for firearms also didn’t know why there was such a backlog, but were saying that the price of grants and renewals is expected to go up dramatically, they were throwing figures around between 200 and 300 quid, now I know some people will moan about that but for me if you are paying that sort of money I’d expect a top notch service and I’m sure everyone would pay it, no matter how much they complained about it

If I go out after rabbits or hares I only use the lamp now, don’t bother with the nv add on anymore, I do really like nv for the foxes if it at the shoot or sheep farm where it’s more of a job, but there’s still something really enjoyable about a scope, torch and a mouth caller, I think it’s because you feel like you have earned it ? -

Up feeding early this morning before meeting a few members in the yard to go and see the old girl with a few gifts as it’s he 80th birthday tomorrow, she was a little overwhelmed as she didn’t know we knew it was her birthday, while up there I was talking with the shoot captain and he was saying we should bring up the subject of buying the shooting rights for the land, instead of paying rent each year ? this is something definitely worth discussing with her as both me and the captain get on really well with her, the only thing is, I’d want all the shooting which would mean forestry couldn’t sh -

It’s not Robin, the lad does reviews for a retailer, so he does HIK, pard, pulsar, etc, he said there was quite a few things he didn’t like about it, one was the LRF, he said he could put it on something take it off and then back on and the distance would change, not by much but enough to question if it was working, he said another that’s really good is the infiRay TD50L, he said that’s just as good as the HIK and the pulsar C50 -

I know someone who has had one of them pard ds35 from a supplier to do a review on and they wouldn’t upload it onto YouTube because he slated it ? and just compared it to the Alpex which he said was a lot better and cheaper
