First walk out in about 3 weeks, so a trip up to the shoot, just to see what was about. First of all a few rabbits for my mate with the .17 and then a call for half an hour at the one place it’s still possible to shoot but nothing showed, getting back to the truck and heading back to the farm, we had just set off when my mate clocked a deer making its way along a gutter, I got the .243 out and headed to the bank side of the gutter, I could see it through the bino’s and it was a roe buck, but with its back to me it presented no shot. We had a good idea where it was heading so jumped back in the

A keeper I know uses a maxus with 3 1/2” chamber and it will shoot anything you put in it, it must be magnum proofed because if it wasn’t it would be no good to him
-
Nice, definitely worth the early start ?

90% of my ground is arable for foxes but I’m lucky that the other 10% is a sheep farm, woodland and recently egg units, so I’m good for an hour or so out shooting rabbits and squizzers and an odd fox, when I started I only had crop fields so used to have 3 months or so of not doing much at all

Nope, the story goes that a french ship wrecked off the coast in the napoleonic wars, the only survivor was the monkey and the good people of Hartlepool hanged it as a spy because they couldn’t understand a word it was saying, much like the rest of the country when speaking to people from Hartlepool maybe I’m wrong, but that was the story I was told from been a kid ?
-
Hahaha ? upper middle class ? more like sheep bothering dead beat, he’s never seen an avocado ? in his life
-
Just down the road from me these nutters They are known as monkey hangers, yet most of the statues are of chimpanzees ( they are not monkeys) it was said they thought it was a french spy and hanged it, so it’s ok to hang a french man as long as no one thinks they are racist, no wonder I stay away from the bad lands ?

Alright if you forget your dinner when you are on a full days shooting

Tell them you are vegan and they were eating your dinner ?

Good result, you may of forgot something but you made the best of it and got the result you were after ?

Me and my mate Mosh (sheep farmer ) used to decoy them around the roundhouse in the farm yard when they had the beast in it, it was just a steady stream all day, coming in ones and twos to just a couple of decoys, we found that they came in better with just the few decoys, we always moved the dead, which was odd because shooting on the stubbles, the more birds you could put out the better

.17hmr fodder on a warm evening ?

It looks like we are in for a shower a bit later but the rest of the week looks a belter, hopefully I’ll be up and about towards the end of the week, might give my mates farm a go because if he hasn’t already, he’ll be having his first cut this week, see if I can draw a ginger from the rape and the little wood ?
-
I’m jealous of people who have silage to shoot over, I’ve only got one farm that’s got about 30 aches of cut and it always produces a fox or two, it’s the dry months around here at the moment with all the crops to high, roll on combine no sitting in the house Ben swimming in beer, get out there ?
-
I’ve only seen it work once, on a fox run, sprayed on a fence post, it peaked an interest and had the fox sniffing around long enough for a shot, cat food would of done the same job with a lot less stink, I don’t know what he’s done with it because I won’t let him bring it with him, maybe replaced his old spice with it ?

A year or so ago, my mate got some of that fox juice spray that mark ripley and that whopper from best fox call were raving about, anyway the idiot managed to squeeze the trigger getting it out the bag in the car, it smelt like there was a dozen dog foxes in the car for a month, it was in the winter and we spent the whole night driving around with the Windows open ? he was instantly banned from bringing that disgusting ? sh*t with him ?
-
Quality night out ? you have to admire them, they are an apex predator and a superb provider for their young people, I’ve lost count of the amount I’ve seen running around the shoot with birds in their gobs, mostly pheasants ( because they are thick as sh*t ) but it’s sad to see them killing the natives fox juice ??dirty boy ???( I admire your dedication)

Last night, courgette, tomato and spinach stew, cooked with white wine, garlic and chilli, very Mediterranean and very nice today a bit of a treat, Cumberland sausage ( the missus pick up from stokesley farmers market) creamy mash bit of veg and shallot gravy ? very nice ( I need to learn how to take decent pictures of food)

Beauty that ? the lads on the rifle forum aren’t as generous as that ( take note @BenBhoy ) I look forward to seeing the finished make over, top lads ???

They say you can choose your friends but not your family, this isn’t always true I have a “mate” and a long time ago I made a promise to a family member of his before they died and I would never go back on that promise, sometimes I look at him and think “ what the fu*k am I doing with you” but a promise is a promise and although we are very different people trusted friends are not easy to come by,( dickhead or not ) he has asked me on numerous occasions to sign grants and renewals and I have refused every time, he now understands why and is fine with that, if firearms do their job prope

Your not wrong, I’ll never take my feet for granted again, from now on I’ll be pampering my feet whenever they need it ?
-
Good job ?
-
Nice job mate, oh I wish I could get out, just for the smells and sounds, it’s good for the soul ?
