  1. No need for any calibre wars, I rate my .243 as a brilliant long range fox calibre with the light V-Max, reality is I very rarely need to take foxes in the next county. Most of my foxes are rimfire, then .223 if required, each to their own!
  2. Just read it myself, certainly a surprise!
  3. the question is standard or bull pup would be mainly used for vermin and plinking any thoughts on which would be better choice? There is no across the board answer, but it's very simple, whatever works best for you!
  4. As others have said, whilst you're waiting it must be worth trying the egg trick!
  5. My invite must have got lost in the post! Interestingly my local was built from scratch a few years back and look like something out of the Arabian Knights. How on earth they got planning consent in the middle of great long road with shops all along both sides is still a bone of contention amongst the locals. Something to do with the nationality/religion of many in the local Council is the suggestion, but I didn't say that!
  6. I'm really not sure, I thought the 783 was a totally different rifle, I know next to nothing about them. Never had an issue with my 700 bolt when out!
  7. No chance, they get spooked from a vast distance, HMR along the hedge line when the come out is about the only chance!
  8. 307 yards is a good distance at the best of times, and particularly at night. I'm more than confident I have never shot one that far at night, hardly any that far even in daylight!
  9. Glad that's ones over, wet, windy and cold, the L&M does have its uses, a few brave members stuck their head out for a while but soon gave up!
  10. I'd guess he was thinking about Opening the Bolt after firing and extracting an overloaded (tight) cartridge, rather than the bolt simply opening whilst on the move! PS Other than that, what's the 783 like, never even seen one, my .308 is a 700 SPS Stainless!
  11. A conventional mouse breakback would tell for sure!
  12. Game dealers can be useful, I have had several referrals via them!
  13. Flippen 'ek, what a start, evil weather! I think I'll be in the L&M discussing tactics all afternoon.
  14. Many years back BSA service was excellent, absolutely great, things have changed considerably over the last 15 years or so. I guess this coincides with their decline and Gamo!
  15. On restoration I would try and stick pretty original, so paint! Memories come back, they were rubbish (didn't think so at the time) but we had so much fun, even hit things sometimes!
  16. Certainly a mean trap for squirrels, but every chance this isn't!
  17. Very likely mice, but there should be droppings around somewhere, a torch will help find them even in that mess!
  18. I had one at some stables many years ago, the site had so many rats it didn't bother anymore, they just walked straight by him!
  19. If all is true I hear about him perhaps the situation need looking at!
  20. War, corruption, ineptitude and stupidity are the common causes of the problems. Now we have to face idiots making dumb comments as well. Should we just walk away and leave them to it!?
  21. I didn't realise he was quite the age he was!
