  1. Perhaps you better ask whoever told you about this miraculous "one shot zero" 'cos I don't know what they are talking about. Then perhaps you would be kind enough to explain to me how it works!
  2. Cartridge? choke? barrel length? experience? conditions? etc..........60 yards no problem, done plenty!
  3. This was dead and burried!!!! Come on guys...lets all calm down..we have all done the big ones, I've done a bunny (witnessed) at 106 yards with my 26ft lb Falcon...yes I was well pleased but it was a one off in special circumstances and any time I talk about it I suggest it was a great shot, in the right circumstances and a chunk of luck. 50-60 yards is generally the max I would ever consider with it at 26ft lb, it's zeroed at 40yds. 70 yards is not a shot to take with a 12ft lb at live quarry..we all push the limits but just accept it works sometimes but not very often...we have all
  4. I was in Marlborough all day yesterday helping a pal on his Pheasant shoot, 1560 acres of brilliant land. Brought in most of the feeders, little bugger uses 50 gallon drums, ******* big, heavy and awkward! Anyway got there just before 10.00 am and it was nearly 16.00 before I knew it, reward was a trip into some of the woodland after the pigeon, 2 hours later and the winds were nearly at Gale force, birds were coming in about 60mph we had just 11 between the 3 of us, very hard birds but a challenge and great fun nevertheless! Like I say the land is the business, spooked a fox just after
  5. the tr robb kit involes the standard gun, just replaces hammer spring valve guide and seals. just have to remember to reg service gun or you get lots of wear!!! mine runs at 34 ft lbs and i get about 35-40 full power shots it is a carbine though but on a hunting trip this is more than enough!!!! you do need to upgrade the silencer i got a lovley adapter and run the hw 100 silencer and the gun sounds quieter than a sub 12ft lbs model. just the hammer spring is noisy. hope this helps john That is seriously impressive and obviously a very special tuning job as it is dramatically
  6. How do you feel about filling in some of your personal profile which is about as blank as its possible to be?
  7. It doesn't work like that!!! There are are no chokes for hunting or clays (except perhaps Skeet where you would tend to use a short barrel and very open choke), the idea is to use the most appropriate for the individual situation and that would be down to the shooters preference!!! Best advice I can give is get looking round the web, there is lots of info around about chokes sizes and uses. Also go to your local gun dealer and get a copy of the Eley Shooters Diary, this will give you loads of info on choke, patterns/spread, distance, cartridge uses etc etc! (you may be able to find this i
  8. Flippin ek!!!! A lot of questions and all impossible to answer without a LOT more definition. Spread will depend on the choke, distance, cartridge, wind, etc but most will be bigger than a football by only about 15 yards of travel (but that in turn is subject to your interpretation of spread). Tail is also subject to a lot more definition, again cartridge, distance choke etc etc all come into play but pattern and tail can generally be defined as a bomb shaped cigar, dimensions can vary a lot! Shooting from towers and lead, no answer, how high is the tower, what angle is the clay flying,
  9. That is some going, I take my hat off to you Remmy!
  10. For hunting between 20-30ft lb I would suggest Air Arms Field, for 30-40ft lb Bisley Magnum, you are right in the middle..tight call!
  11. Chris I'm fascinated, I know a handful of people running air rifles over 40ft lb but I don't actually know of anyone running anything at 80ft lb....help me out here, what is it used for and why?? Cheers Deker
  12. Nooo, tricky rabbits that have been messed with by amateurs before the land owners realise they need to get a pro in and sort their problems out for them at great expense, and where my rimmys are too likely to cause damage or harm by ricochet. It will be just yet another tool of my trade to enable me to offer customers a holistic approach to an age old problem. As all the above and air rifle pellets are a lot cheaper than .17hmr or 22 I done a job the other day shot 56 rabbits with my 22 if I had my rifle then would have cost me a lot less You are a little mistaken, the h
  13. Don't quite understand some of this...yep..it does make and interesting twang but...they are very accurate and I am a little surprised you think it more likely the gun is losing it's zero and not your scope!! The barrel is incredibly flexible but despite this my gun has never lost it's zero! Mine has been running FAC for years (26ft lb), it sounds a lot better, virtually no twang and without a moderator it has a roar! Mine is zeroed at 40 yards and I can always put a full magazine into a 1p. On top of which I thought you were shouting about how accurate yours was...what are you expectin
  14. Yep! Cost will be £50 for your FAC plus a cabinet, if you return the gun to AA to do the work it is likely to be a fair bit over £100 as FAC carriage is expensive to start with. If you want to do the work yourself you can save money and just get a kit from someone like Terry Robb...when you have your FAC!!
  15. If you have the time and patience it isn't going to do any harm. There are those that say shooting in a barrel is a waste of time, but this needs qualifying! The likes of a .22LR firing sub sonic lead may require hundreds of rounds to break it in properly, but on the other hand if this is all you ever use it for it could be argued there is no need to break it in at all! Serious fast centrefires will break in, or break a barrel quickly, a good bit of cleaning and copper removal would be useful. I suspect those that care, want accuracy and can't afford a new barrel every few rounds
  16. Springers..PCP .....I wish you the best with this Chris, as someone else said this is going to be a mammoth and probably thankless task! I have no idea how you are going to lay it out but surely there needs to be some element of review contained otherwise you will end up with things like "I have a Chinese ***** and it only cost £15 brand new and its brilliant" ATB..you are braver man than me taking this one on!
  17. I've done 2 recently...first the salt method and second the meths method. Difficult to say on just one try of each method, but I'd say the meths just has the edge although there is really nothing in it. Last question...someone suggested finishing the tail by sticking it in a used shotgun cartridge....sound a good idea to me but any suggestions as to what glue would be best?? Needs to stick to plastic, metal, fur and skin??? Thanks Deker

    Red Kites

Seems that is was only a few years ago they were "rare" and about the only chance you had to see them was in Wales. I'm pleased to say I see lots of them in Berkshire now and also an increasing number of the Buzzard!
  19. Sorry chap but I am a little surprised you have even asked the question. This procedure is clearly written in the notes on the end of your FAC!
  20. I am struggling to believe there are only a couple of us in Berkshire! I'm just trying to work out if most of the permissions in Berkshire are small (10-20-30-40-50 acres) or if it's just me who has loads below 100 acres and only a few above!
  21. Deben do lamping kit fixing for under the barrel.
  22. I'd say it was pretty simple..you are not showing as a donator against the user "flinty".
  23. DS The Hornet is a fine round and has many uses, but less and less manufacturers are chambering it and the ammo is getting harder and harder to find and is not cheap! With regard to sub sonics bouncing around..well yes they can..and so can the high velocity in .22LR, this problem exists FAR less in the .22WMR.
  24. I have 24 pieces of land to shoot on and have EVERYTHING to shoot at (Well ...not too many Reds or CWD but enough of everything else)! I have had reason to be in Oxfordshire much of this week trying to earn a crust and I can't believe how much land there is and how BIG many of the Farms etc are! Anyway, there are only 2 or 3 very big estates in Berkshire and I don't have any of them, actually there are only a handful of my estates over 100 acres. So the question is... for Berkshire shooters only ...How much land have you got and what is the size of the biggest? Be honest!!!! A
