  1. If you have the time and patience it isn't going to do any harm. There are those that say shooting in a barrel is a waste of time, but this needs qualifying! The likes of a .22LR firing sub sonic lead may require hundreds of rounds to break it in properly, but on the other hand if this is all you ever use it for it could be argued there is no need to break it in at all! Serious fast centrefires will break in, or break a barrel quickly, a good bit of cleaning and copper removal would be useful. I suspect those that care, want accuracy and can't afford a new barrel every few rounds
  2. Springers..PCP .....I wish you the best with this Chris, as someone else said this is going to be a mammoth and probably thankless task! I have no idea how you are going to lay it out but surely there needs to be some element of review contained otherwise you will end up with things like "I have a Chinese ***** and it only cost £15 brand new and its brilliant" ATB..you are braver man than me taking this one on!
  3. I've done 2 recently...first the salt method and second the meths method. Difficult to say on just one try of each method, but I'd say the meths just has the edge although there is really nothing in it. Last question...someone suggested finishing the tail by sticking it in a used shotgun cartridge....sound a good idea to me but any suggestions as to what glue would be best?? Needs to stick to plastic, metal, fur and skin??? Thanks Deker

    Red Kites

Seems that is was only a few years ago they were "rare" and about the only chance you had to see them was in Wales. I'm pleased to say I see lots of them in Berkshire now and also an increasing number of the Buzzard!
  5. Sorry chap but I am a little surprised you have even asked the question. This procedure is clearly written in the notes on the end of your FAC!
  6. I am struggling to believe there are only a couple of us in Berkshire! I'm just trying to work out if most of the permissions in Berkshire are small (10-20-30-40-50 acres) or if it's just me who has loads below 100 acres and only a few above!
  7. Deben do lamping kit fixing for under the barrel.
  8. I'd say it was pretty simple..you are not showing as a donator against the user "flinty".
  9. DS The Hornet is a fine round and has many uses, but less and less manufacturers are chambering it and the ammo is getting harder and harder to find and is not cheap! With regard to sub sonics bouncing around..well yes they can..and so can the high velocity in .22LR, this problem exists FAR less in the .22WMR.
  10. I have 24 pieces of land to shoot on and have EVERYTHING to shoot at (Well ...not too many Reds or CWD but enough of everything else)! I have had reason to be in Oxfordshire much of this week trying to earn a crust and I can't believe how much land there is and how BIG many of the Farms etc are! Anyway, there are only 2 or 3 very big estates in Berkshire and I don't have any of them, actually there are only a handful of my estates over 100 acres. So the question is... for Berkshire shooters only ...How much land have you got and what is the size of the biggest? Be honest!!!! A
  11. Hi arcpest, Whats the grouping like on your Tikka at 100 mts? I've got a Tikka T3 Lite s/s 1-8 and so far i can't get it to group at 100 mts looks more like i've used a shotgun!! I'm going to try some 75 grain ammo to see if i get on any better (69 brain Sierra's aren't doing it). smiffy My T3 is identical to yours! There is a general suggestion that the tighter the twist the heavier ammo, well........ don't ask me why, and don't ask Tikka (because I already have and they don't know either!) but the 1-8 twist works great with 55g and 62g so try some lighter ones not heavie
  12. I run the 4-16x56 SWAT on my FAC Air Rifle. Bought it at the Game Fair about 3 years ago! Optics are clear and the Mil dot reticle is clear but fine at the same time. Sidewheel Parallax and 4" Sunshade. Build quality is not obviously the best in the world, but I like it and I've had no problems with it. AGS is Airgun Sport (Branded scope) who have now rebranded completely as Webley! Not seen the 8-32x56!
  13. From an Airgun point of view I would suggest practice, as has been indicated. General airgun ranges will be 30-40 yards maximum so you should soon get used to things, but as you are already aware range is important. You will have to check distances as you zero so that will help, but again, light conditions, topography, woodlands or open fields all add to the confusion. Laser rangerfinders can be useful (and expensive) but if you use your gun regularly you will soon get used to distances. The fun and games and can really start when you talk about centrefires at 200, 300, 400, 500+ yards
  14. I'm not looking for any congratulations, I'm simply trying to make the point that I'm not a spotty 15 year old asking if it's ok to shoot deer (or pheasants) with my air rifle. My first consideration is always safety and I am very well aware of the effects and potential effects of a great many cartridges...but no ...before you ask, (unlike most 15 year olds) I don't know it all and never will!
  15. It was mentioned in an earlier posting here but can we all open our minds a bit and stop jumping to conclusions! I'm not sure where you are going...and I do not have a first choice gun for fox. I use the most appropriate gun and ammo for every situation to the best of my ability. When I'm shooting in a Hay Loft next to a stable full of 40+ horses and 30 yards from the owners house at night I am most likely to use a .22LR with 40g HP subs and a moderator (I do not use caps or shorts or longs or shotshells or high velocity HERE).. they aren't going bouncing anywhere, at last count ther
  16. The FN19 is a cracking tool, the build quality is not the greatest but they are easy and fun to shoot. On top of that, and despite the fact the barrel is about as flexible as a Bass guitar string, they are very accurate! Check out.. http://falconowners.myfastforum.org http://www.falcon-airguns.co.uk Never shot this rifle Deker but what exaxtly do you mean about the barrel. The barrel is very thin and is incredibly flexible..REALLY.. ask any owner!!! BUT it's accuracy is legedary...and I don't understand why
  17. Does anyone have ANY Nissan from LATE 2007 or early 2008 with Nissans OWN DVD Sat Nav fitted.....I need some help please!?!?

  19. Here we go again! Why don't you listen to the advice given instead of making smart arse comments? NO ONE on here is going to give you permission, you just have to go out and get it the same as everybody else. dude y dont u stop playing mod n keep out my posts Don't you think as a newbie who can't spell and wants something it would be a good idea to show some humility and respect, your posts reflect the fact you are 15 and the attitude you are displaying is not going to help you get any permission. You have had some sensible advice, act on it.
  20. Bite your lip, chill out and accept some constructive criticism... I'm assuming it is 12ft lb...First off congratulations, you did very well as the powerpells are not very accurate, the accupells are better accuracy wise, but my Falcon doesn't like either. They also rattle around in the magazine. Second, like it or not you were lucky, a 12 ft lb FN19 is not a 70 yard tool, you will end up injuring far more than you kill, stick to around 30, and 40 yds max!
  21. The slug should only be dangerous at the wrong end of the barrel. ANY shotgun slug will take down a Wild Boar at 20 yards. They are generally rated up to about 60yards maximum, fare amount of power at that distance although tailing off very quickly, but you would be lucky to hit a barn door at this sort of distance. Slugs are used in Europe for Boar but I have only been out the once after Boar and it was the UK! .308 was the favoured tool NOT slugs. Range goes up, accuracy is far better and stopping power is better.....I have a bit of an issue with a Boar at 20 yards, you will need
  22. rusty Whilst I totally agree that's the way it should be, it isn't..even if she did move in after him the law gives him no protection..a noise offence is a noise offence yesterday, today and tomorrow!
  23. Many thanks...God knows why it never occured to me to check Chambers!! And the crosman site looks useful..
  24. This sort of situation is always difficult!! You potentially face a number of problems and the main one is trying to stay on reasonable terms with your neighbour ....... Surely if there's strange noises in the house or garden then its OK for the dogs to bark?? Am I wrong? No... it is not ok for them to bark if this can be judged a nuisance. Will it be investigated Or will I just get a letter threatening an ASBO? It should be investigated...if it was you complaining you would expect it to be investigated. It is most unlikely you will receive a letter threatening anything!! Is it
