Both the magazines in question are far from perfect but this response criticises itself and is very nieve..... The bloke behind the counter of your gun shop IS a salesman, he will sell and promote what he carries and has in stock. This is NOT an unbiased honest opinion, it is about making money! And just in case you hadn't already noticed many people are very reluctant to say they bought a pup (human nature) they didn't make a mistake, their gun etc is brilliant..."but now I have a bit more money I can afford to upgrade" It's called the real world, we all make mistakes, we all learn

Gingernutz & Ratman2...nice little club...do you guys actually know anything about Mr Crossman, I've got an old pump up pistol, used to be the business but the seals have gone and I need replacements. Can't remember the model, been put away for a few years because it's unusable. I'll dig it out, in the meantime if you could let this little girlie into your club we could talk there!

Never had one, don't know anyone who has one, all I know about them is that they offer a fair choice and are cheap. So over to the owners, they do seem to offer value for money but.........

BB Are you a new member of the BASC? Fair do's for asking the question but their activities with regard Air Rifles/youngsters/schools etc are well publicised in their own magazine (as well as others) which you should automatically receive on a regular basis! Obviously if you have only recently joined you would not necessarily know this!

Mr_Logic "MAY" have a Sako 75, 22-250 for sale, under a year old, excellent condition, genuine reason for sale....and can I have commission please? PS... not bad for Kidlington either, just 4 months, I know several who have waited longer!

Great work! I'm having a mare of it Fox wise at the moment, already got 7 this year (6 in January) BUT went out Tuesday night and MISSED 3 out of 3 with my .223 between about -150yards. Mad as hell, went out Wednesday, waited as long as possible for the mist to clear, and checked the zero, spot on! Out last night to get me some Charlie and didn't see a single one! I got over it though!

Its all been said. You will not go wrong with either! The HW is better built without doubt, but is typically German OVERengineered in my opinion which definately gives it a weight problem, but it will probably last forever. The 410 is a great gun and you will seldom hear anything bad about it. This is really going to simply come down to which one you are most comfortable with!

The Hawke range of scopes is very wide and offers something for virtually everyone. Overall value for money of them all is pretty good BUT there is a variation of quality. The Hawke Varmint2 is a very good scope for the money and definately worth considering. Also don't forget the Nikko's, some of them are very good VFM as well! Check out http://www.opticswarehouse.com/acatalog/index.html

First off it is absolutely correct that both are from the SAME stable and lets be frank, both carry a lot of the "same" stuff! Much has been said and much is correct, we live in a commercial world, but I have to admit reviews of everything in living memory only achieving a 9 out of 10 at the absolute worst do not inspire a great deal of confidence. What many of you forget is that you now have a lot of experience, it is obvious from many posts on THL that many do not, and would find both of these magazines useful. Life changes, our knowledge changes and our expectations change , but

Unscrupulous people with excess money are buying land and property just to make obscene profits, leaving people who actually need the land and property, but have not got the money, with no hope. Ratman2 It's called democracy, it means you can spout off s**t like this and I can say..let the peasants eat dirt! Yeh!! fair comment, I'm just pissed off with all the property developers who are buying up all the small houses in rural areas and turning them into mansions, then sell them off to people who have the dosh, depriving our children of any hope of staying local. Rant over

But your screw is unlikely to give you consistancy of shot if you crank it ALL the way up and you are still not going to get anywhere close to 80ft lb..there is only so much you can do before valving etc needs looking at!

Hello decker like you i use a falcon but was interested in what you have to say about the huntsman, could you tell me a little about them as im finding it hard to get any info on them, the mk1s more so. regards MC Hi Not sure what to say about the Huntsman really, single shot rear bolt pcp and a bit fiddly to get the pellet in I seem to recall. Must have been about 12 - 14 years ago I got it, and I sold it in 2000. Mine was made up to FAC after about a year and I was running it about 28-30ft lb. I seem to remember it was quite reliable although I had to make one o

Daystate quote it as 80ft lb!!!! I believe there are at least 2 and I think 3 stages of power adjustment. This is achieved through valving and hammer spring changes (simple explaination), Via Daystate or presumably by yourself if you had the technical ability. Within each power "band" a certain amount of user flexibility is possible.

Shooting at night has required special permission for as long as I can remember but shooting "out of season" has historically been relatively simple, just follow the guideline rules! Now this is all down to licences which are likely to be much harder to get. Frankly it p****s me off because once again it is simply more red tape I have to spend forever dealing with, when all the p******s just wonder around the land shooting, I am busy filling in paperwork and dealing with government idiots!
-
The MK1 was meant to be up to 40ft lb and as already said the first few were VERY easy to tweek! The law soon jumped on them and things got a "bit" harder. (early MK1's are in demand and can attract good money...I wonder why??) The MK2 Rapid can easily make 50ft lb. Fill the bottles from a dive cylinder or direct from your dealer or dive centre.

First thing to say is I've never used one of these but I have a lot of experience on the old Huntsman and I've been looking after a mates MK3 for about a year now. I just dont see ANY point in the Air Ranger. It was designed as a FAC tool, not a 12ft lb gun, just so happens you get quite a lot of shots at 12. So what??? Costs a fortune and value for money there are better at 12ft lb IMHO. As a FAC tool...who wants it....power up to ft lb and a direct line to your dive shop for non stop charges! Again price is daft and so is the price and availability of most pellets for this t

Only Calibre, power and "expanding" legally defined for larger deer...no minimum bullet weight.. Suggestions by several organisations of 100g but nothing in law that I am aware of. Put me right someone if I have missed something. Thanks Deker

I don't know if you are misunderstanding something or it is simply badly worded but I am Secretary of a Home Office Approved Club at Bisley. You do NOT need a sponsor to come to the club, and you can come as a guest visitor without any FAC as long as you complete a Section 21 (which I keep). The majority of our guests do however come with a member! If subsequently you wish to become a member you will need to be proposed by a member (which will be simple and easy because if the club was not happy with you as a guest you will already have been told you are no longer welcome), complete t

???????? If you are a FULL member of a Home Office approved club you can use, and have access to FAC rated tools, without actually holding a FAC. I have never heard of a Target club hiring rifles to a member for Game shooting, it is most unlikely Target club rifles/ammo will be conditioned for "Game". I struggle to see a situation, where, as a non FAC holder, you could "hire" a gun and then shoot game on land without it being some sort of organised Game Hunting Holiday or just possible you hired a gun from the owner of the land. The answer is therefore possibly half yes and probabl

OK, we all know the Game Licences were blown away last year, but introduced at the same time were:- 1 Licence to take deer at night! 2 Licence to take deer out of season! So where do we get them from, how much do they charge us for the privilege, anyone got any yet?? Thanks Deker
