DS There are a number of Hornet bullets that may well "disintigrate" on contact but there are several that will not, the Hornet is available I believe between about 400-750ft lb with a considerable variation in performance and terminal ballistic effect! The .22 Magnum, is correctly known as the .22WMR (Winchester Magnum Rifle) and it too, is available with some bullets that will "disintigrate" on contact but there are also some that will not. The .22WMR will hardly ever "ping" or bounce any more than any other round. The .22LR (Long Rifle) in just about all it's forms, is the famo

Shot Gun CERTIFICATE! Muntjac .22Rimfire is NOT approved for ANY Deer As a first grant you are also unlikely to get it certified for Fox! What Centrefire calibre were you considering? Any military background will help BUT will NOT get you a FAC in it's own right..you will have to put a case.... The above is NOT a case. What 7.62 rifles are you using and is the ammo still FN or are you using RG now? What weight of bullet do you use in the 5.56? dint realise that i was being marked on my spelling and yea i know that i cant use .22rimfire for deer, hence the question about th

So are Beretta..strange you should not mention them when you are using their logo!

I've not come across or heard about any specific problems, perhaps others have and may respond. Unless the action is VERY heavy or you use particularly light or some low recoil cartridges, cycling "smaller" cartridges (length) should be easier! That's about the extent of my knowledge of these, so hopefully someone else can tell you more!

Looks good, I'm sure it will reap rewards. BUT, don't leave your gun (or ANY gun) leaning on a tree/fence etc like that, it will only lead to disaster!

Hi Remmy It's going very well thanks, never knock them over in huge quantities but always steady...and we still have to the end of the month down here for ALL the Does!!! The English may well pay for the Scots National Health, Pensions, and Parliament buildings but at least we are allowed to shoot a bit longer than you Scots! Mind you, with that Remmy and Scope of yours I suspect you could shoot from Scotland across the border into England and extend your seasons a bit!

Mark The more you go on about this reloading game the better it sounds, but I struggle with my interest levels about it, and time. For us sad people who have no idea about reloading, reasonable Hornet cost potentially 50p or more per pop around this way. Factory stuff can be bought (if you know where to go) from about..... .22LR 2.5p HMR 18p WMR 14p Hornet 33p .223 14p FMJ 18p HP 22-250 40p .243 35p .308 27p 7.62 20p I'm not suggesting that all this stuff is match quality but it does for many of us, hence not a massive interest in reloading around some

It is an interesting arguement by Martin about buying a gun he is not that happy about so he can buy/make all sorts of modifications on it. It's an argeument I have heard many times for many things, not simply guns, but I have never quite understood it, I always buy someting I like that does the job, don't see any logic in buying something and saying it will be ok after I have spent a load more money on it and made X Y Z modifications. Having said that the R 700 is a cracking gun anyway, and available in a lot of variations. I understand some may be available with a magazine now, or a m

I have all sorts of reservations about ANY movement of a scope. There are meant to be mounts that clip on and off and "keep" their zero but I would not trust ANYTHING, especially if you are shooting at any distance! In my book, if you breath heavily on the scope check the zero!

Not got one and never used one BUT, seen, felt, touched and played with them, this range has done a lot for Webley, arguably saved/revived the name and brought them back to the forefront (who owns who now?...AGS ring any bells). Don't know this specific one but most, if not all their range is Turkish, nothing necessarily bad about that, and in principle their guns do seem to offer "reasonable" quality at "affordable" prices. For the starter or occassional shooter who wants a new gun without spending a fortune a good buy. If you are happy with a "used" gun, spend the same money on a b

I'm a bit confused now DS?? Should WMR above be HMR???? The .22LR in most of its forms has a distinct chance of "pingers", the .22WMR is very rarely effected by this!

Mr Beretta owns Benelli as well! My money is on the 391 as the better gun BUT the Benelli is much underated. It also uses a different load/eject system and stays internally cleaner than the Beretta. I love my 391, its my second semi from Beretta, but cleaning after a decent session can take an hour, and if I have neglected it just a bit, that can go up to 2 hours. The over and under is 10-20 minutes tops! The Benelli will not present the same cleaning problems as the Beretta, and Benelli are also one of the few to offer a true left handed semi! Something to think about!

I suspect the lack of response is down to the relatively few (and dwindling) number of people who use the Hornet. I suspect the .22WMR and then the .223Rem will do just about everything you want. Of course the Hornet sits quite well between the 2 and is a cracking round but does it justify itself.
-
Well, with that sort of budget, just go and ask your dealer what's the most expensive semi he has, buy that and send me the change! If that doesn't work, buy a Beretta 391 (excellent) ...and still send me the change!

Does look like it could be a bit awkward!

What shotguns do you have mate and what do you use them for? clays maybe!! or wildfowling or big game. If you do get your airgun uprated to FAC I recomend dum dum pellets and drop them wabbits at 300yds Not again ..is it ????

Yeah HMR, do you think he would change the scope for me at a cost? Or is it soiled goods now? Whats the best scope for about 200 - 250? luketurner Don' be too hasty! I have no idea if your dealer will "change/exchange" you scope, from what I have seen of these BSA jobs, they are better than many would expect! A more expensive scope choice would be down to you, target, hunting, both, close, far, all weather, day only, night as well, reticle choice, ammo choice range of target, etc, etc, it goes on and on, try what you have, get used to what you do, and then make your own

The 4x40 Webley is a fairly basic scope but in principle is adequate for most things you could do with a 12ft lb XL. a 3-9 X 56, Like for like, would pretty obviously be better! Don't know about the mounts but it could be a problem! Pellets and range and FAC????, personally I do not suggest pushing springers almost anything above 12ft lb! Lots to try and check up to 12ft lb.

As long as you are a good boy, never get in trouble and don't have a dodgy medical history about the only point of joining any of these organisations is the Insurance!
-
Hi James I'm a bit lost now, what round in what form are you refering to?
-
HMR I assume or is it a Mach 2! The BSA would not be my first choice although from what I have seen of them they are not that bad! Suck it and see as they say, if you want to upgrade later there are loads to choose from, but don't be too hasty!

In principle I totally agree, we all have different abilities but I have taken, and don't have any problem droping a fox at 70yards with a .22LR HP sub. A couple of points....first off Mr Plod has given me .22LR for Fox, many will struggle to get this! Second, I am a very good shot, please don't take this the wrong way, but I have been doing this nearly 35 years, I have medals (not that important ones) and ..well I know what I can do (But I still get it wrong sometimes). Third, at this distance a 100ft lb sub, will still be delivering 70-80ft lb and a decent lead, 40g, (big) HP wil
