I'm a bit confused now DS?? Should WMR above be HMR???? The .22LR in most of its forms has a distinct chance of "pingers", the .22WMR is very rarely effected by this!
-
Mr Beretta owns Benelli as well! My money is on the 391 as the better gun BUT the Benelli is much underated. It also uses a different load/eject system and stays internally cleaner than the Beretta. I love my 391, its my second semi from Beretta, but cleaning after a decent session can take an hour, and if I have neglected it just a bit, that can go up to 2 hours. The over and under is 10-20 minutes tops! The Benelli will not present the same cleaning problems as the Beretta, and Benelli are also one of the few to offer a true left handed semi! Something to think about!

I suspect the lack of response is down to the relatively few (and dwindling) number of people who use the Hornet. I suspect the .22WMR and then the .223Rem will do just about everything you want. Of course the Hornet sits quite well between the 2 and is a cracking round but does it justify itself.

Well, with that sort of budget, just go and ask your dealer what's the most expensive semi he has, buy that and send me the change! If that doesn't work, buy a Beretta 391 (excellent) ...and still send me the change!

Does look like it could be a bit awkward!

What shotguns do you have mate and what do you use them for? clays maybe!! or wildfowling or big game. If you do get your airgun uprated to FAC I recomend dum dum pellets and drop them wabbits at 300yds Not again ..is it ????

Yeah HMR, do you think he would change the scope for me at a cost? Or is it soiled goods now? Whats the best scope for about 200 - 250? luketurner Don' be too hasty! I have no idea if your dealer will "change/exchange" you scope, from what I have seen of these BSA jobs, they are better than many would expect! A more expensive scope choice would be down to you, target, hunting, both, close, far, all weather, day only, night as well, reticle choice, ammo choice range of target, etc, etc, it goes on and on, try what you have, get used to what you do, and then make your own

The 4x40 Webley is a fairly basic scope but in principle is adequate for most things you could do with a 12ft lb XL. a 3-9 X 56, Like for like, would pretty obviously be better! Don't know about the mounts but it could be a problem! Pellets and range and FAC????, personally I do not suggest pushing springers almost anything above 12ft lb! Lots to try and check up to 12ft lb.

As long as you are a good boy, never get in trouble and don't have a dodgy medical history about the only point of joining any of these organisations is the Insurance!
-
Hi James I'm a bit lost now, what round in what form are you refering to?
-
HMR I assume or is it a Mach 2! The BSA would not be my first choice although from what I have seen of them they are not that bad! Suck it and see as they say, if you want to upgrade later there are loads to choose from, but don't be too hasty!

In principle I totally agree, we all have different abilities but I have taken, and don't have any problem droping a fox at 70yards with a .22LR HP sub. A couple of points....first off Mr Plod has given me .22LR for Fox, many will struggle to get this! Second, I am a very good shot, please don't take this the wrong way, but I have been doing this nearly 35 years, I have medals (not that important ones) and ..well I know what I can do (But I still get it wrong sometimes). Third, at this distance a 100ft lb sub, will still be delivering 70-80ft lb and a decent lead, 40g, (big) HP wil

Pretty spot on I'd say...there is no law about lamping foxes as far as I'm aware but I simply do not use the shotgun after dark. It "tends" to get very still as the sun sets and a shotgun noise can travel up to 5 miles (really) so, simply out of courtesy to the neighbours I make a point of not using it after sunset. The shotgun, in most of its forms, is capable of stopping a fox easily but as John says I would not push my luck much more than 40-50 yards. I favour BB if I am specifically going out after the fox, although 3 or 4 could do the job! Fact is, I use the rifle on the fox, can

I don't understand what you mean, don't the army, police and just about everyone else use nv on their rifles ?? a better quality but a dedicated scope. Around £5k a time, not available to the sporting community!! Also there are many people who use gen 1 scopes on live round rifles by adding an extra illuminator. Shooting up to 60 yards if you are lucky during a full moon! I think he was joking mate, although to get a decent set up you do have to spend plenty ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££. Worke

Some interesting comments here, many of which I totally concur with. If this stalker struggles with Fallow and .243 he should consider another occupation, put bluntly, it's Pratt's like him that not only give us all a bad name but lead to even more ridiculous legislation being introduced!!! I totally agree that not every shot goes right but ANY .22CF put in the right place will EASILY stop ANY deer!!! Everyone seems to forget that one of the prime and original reasons for the .22Hornet (550-750ft lb) was DEER! Yes, we MUST be fair and reasonable to our quarry, nobody wants an injured

Alright mate how you shooting them?? air rifle or shotgun?? if ya using a shotgun and you can take someone with ya with a lofting pole and poke the dreys and stand back and wait then i would say its better to go while its raining coz the rats will be in their dreys! 15 or 20p cartridge straight into the drey is a lot quicker and easeir than draging around a drey pole, (which also cost silly money as well) and you can do it all by yourself!

Anything will do as long as it takes pics, I would be very grateful! I'm just off to Swindon, not back till late tonight, so if you happen to find it quickly and I don't get back to you I'm not ignoring you!

What is Normal clay, DTL, Skeet, Sunday bash down the Farm, Full Bisley type sporting, etc??? Hunt around, there are some slow burns and low recoil 28 about, ask someone like justcartridges.com. What is this gordon recoil system?
-
Yep they will tend to have less recoil than a 28g, however you still have to check whether the cartridge is High or Low velocity, this will also effect the kick. (also felt, plastic, etc wad) 24g for what sort of clay discipline, fine for Skeet but most will tend to use a heavier cartridge for most other disciplines?
-
You will need to try some and see what you and the gun favour, always a strage one this as someone will say xxx is great and someone else will say xxx is rubbish! You say you are using a light load at the moment so I assume your Benelli (am I assuming to much) is NOT a S/A. These can be very fussy with light loads!

They were approved under the new Act which came in last year until the Final Reading, then some dipstick decided to ask the RSPCA who responded by saying "they had no evidence to suggest it was humane", why the f**k didn't they look at Scotland...so Roe got removed at the last minute! What happened to "Inocent until proven guilty"? What they should've said was "We have no evidence to suggest that it is not humane.". Then it wouldn't have been an issue. Who invited that bunch along to the meeting anyway? Totally agree, and exactly; what the f**k does the RSPCA know about it
-
Right everyone, I have now received a good number of PM's. I think I have responded to everyone, I notice my in box filled up a bit quick so I have cleared it now, if you didn't get through to me you can try again now! Deker

Do you like going out in the rain, the wind, the cold, the snow etc etc...neither does the wildlife, wherever possible in adverse weather conditions they will keep their heads down! Inevitably they will have to come out sometime, but as a general rule if you don't like the weather neither do they! Oh...and don't forget the pain in the butt job of drying/cleaning the gun after rain!
