  1. The coloured filters do reduce the light but they are not a dimmer!! Hold on...I didn't say it "isn't that good", beam is fine, value for money is good, build quality is not that great! There are brighter units and there are better built units but they all cost a chunk more! For most people for most applications the Deben Tracer Mini and Max offer plenty!
  2. So something like 26-30p a shot. Not bad about £1.50 less than a premium factory round in .223 e.g Remington 50 gr Acuutips. On that basis then once youve loaded 3-400 rounds it would have offset the equipment and start up costs. Sounds good to me. Did I miss something here, are you paying in the order of £1.80p EACH for these??? Also, on the other hand remember you can buy CHEAP Factory Barnaul in .223 Rem from the likes of Peter Lawman for £13.95p per 100
  3. I do not and never have reloaded, and don't know anything about it, although I hear a lot of good things about reloading. Apart from cost..just how long does it take to load a round???
  4. This is a whole hornets nest!!! The calibres are what they are due to official idiots AND the desire to kill quickly. Put simply, the authorities want the deer to die quickly (quite rightly) even when you shoot it up the arse..so overpowerd calibres are directed. Bullet placement is, and always will be the key, I have known a red to run over a mile with a .308 hole through him!! An accurately placed shot from MUCH smaller calibres will "instantly" kill even a Red Stag! Discuss
  5. The Deben Tracer Max is DEFINATELY NOT the best lamp you can get but it does offer a good beam and good value for money in my book. The version with the dimmer will give you longer battery life, longer lamp life and scare the quarry less at times, personally I would suggest the dimmer every time! Check around on the web for the best price, you will probably be able to do a "bit" better than that!
  6. Morgan...Morgan...Morgan...that is a pressure valve!!! It is NOT the bottle pressure...look on the BOTTLE for numbers!!!!
  7. Look for some more numbers...they don't come in 400bar for Breathing Air, if it says 400 that is some sort of test pressure it has been exposed to..it is not a filling pressure!!!!
  8. dont no mate a can get it fill just take it 2 the gun shop amd its only a ten 2 fill Morgan...how about slowing down a bit and trying English, us old folk can't understand!! Also ...your bottle is NOT 400Bar, it will be 232 or 300, take another careful look. Cheers
  9. Mark01856 jamie g has been very helpful to you! The only thing I would add is get rid of any pictures of you shooting game birds with your air rifle, if you apply for a FAC and your FEO sees any of those your chances of getting your certificate will diminish!!
  10. Never stop shooting foxes..... dogs, vixen, pups! In principle you will never stop them, simply get a bit of relief for a while until the family "next door" realise there is space and food available, then it starts all over again!

    Lamping batteries

John Our friends at Deben do 2 standard chargers, 6v/12v 500ma and 6v/12v 800ma. Both of these have the red power and green charging lamps, is this like yours? Either will charge your 18AH battery but the 800ma would be recomended, would still be a trickle charge and all being equal will still take in the order of 22 hours to fully charge a completely flat 18AH I struggle to belief that most makes of sealed lead acid rechargeable batteries are that much different, but Yuasa are rated amongst the best (and most expensive). One season from your battery does seem very little, do
  14. You may find this one useful too! http://czowners.ipbfree.com/index.php? Trigger always take a bit of time to bed in, try mine and see what you think, if that doesn't work for you then certainly try a Brooks, http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/trigger_kits.html However, there are those that suggest stealing the spring from your Biro..
  15. Help me out on this, I understood all Brocock owners became elligible for a fac on much easier terms than a conventional fac but simply for the Brocock. Do you therefore hold a FAC with any conditions attached for the Brocock or is it unconditional. I understand the Original rifles were meant to get to 12ft lb, but maybe did 9ft lb or 10ft lb if you were very lucky! Even if you could get there I would suggest Bisley Magnum at 21.4g is still a bit too heavy! I don't know it these cartridges and seals will take much more anyway! 9ft lb is still plenty to knock down a rabbit, but jus
  16. This is all somewhat beyond belief.
  17. The Logan is the worst lamp you can buy , but lets put it all into perspective. It is better than nothing, and if you are after CLOSE quarry with a 12ft lb air rifle it is a cheap option, so lets be realistic ! As for rabbits going out in the rain..they hate it, just like us, most animals will keep their heads own in the cold, the wet the wind etc. Unfortunately for them though they don't have fridges, freezers and supermarkets so they are forced to go out and forage/eat after a day or two of bad weather! So you will often find the bunny out in the wet...but not me if I can avoid i
  18. I had in the back of my mind these are 1-9 but I could well be wrong (maybe thinking about the .223). Check out http://www.edgar-brothers.co.uk/ORIGINAL_SITE/ but I don't think you will find the twist rate.... Or drop an email to admin@edgar-brothers.demon.co.uk They are usually quite good and will hopefully come straight back to you with the twist!
  19. I don't deny I am curious!!! Best I can get is £1.00 each. What do you have to do with them, paunched, cleaned, skinned, jointed?????? Do they only take one or two occasionally, or will they take loads?
  20. Where do you get £2 per head in Berkshire???
  21. Well..it started off as a sort of care in the community project :whistling: , taking Mr L out on a few bits of my land. Looks like I've done a good job , I usually put him on point to give him a chance, but it's getting to the stage where he is cleaning everything up ! Last night I did indeed take him out to an area well known for the fox, and its turned out to be a filthy night weather wise, but you have seen the results! Mr L has invested in a few new toys recently and the RWS in .243 looks and feels great (seems to shoot ok too !!) Got to admit I know very little about
  22. Help me out here as I know nothing about birds of prey...WHY do you gut them?, owls/birds of prey don't have anyone in the wild to gut them, they deal with everything!!!! 20-25 on a good night, last night 4!!!
  23. Just back from a trip to a landowner with a fox problem, sadly no sign of charlie tonight but a handful (5) bunnies. The second was a brilliant shot at around 60 yards which sent brain matter, skull fragments, fur etc into orbit, as the 55g HP found its mark.....BUT, very strange and the first time ever for me (in several thousand bunnies) this one ran 20 feet and then dropped dead. 95% of its whole head etc was GONE, sometimes get a few twitches with this sort of damage but never had one run away before!!!
  24. Can be useful Dawn & Dusk and if night shooting under a Full (or nearly full) moon, without a lamp. If you have a decent lamp or red filter on the lamp I can see little or no need for illuminated. Personal choice though, as with so many things scope wise!
  25. EXCELLENT..... can we see some then????!!! Antis, time wasters and armchair ***** are also well known for leaving their profile blank and agreeing/suggesting others may be!!!
