  1. Its certainly not the thing to do but i think the legalities have been forgotten along the way due to confusion and peoples opinion. I was just wondering out of curiosity. Game is clearly stated as illegal for sundays and christmas day, which is well known, but wildfowl in England, is never CLEARLY stated in black and white.
  2. I have always thought that it was permitted as its not classed as "Game" under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, but now looking at some BASC codes of practise it clearly says "The taking of Wildfowl is prohibited on Sundays and Christmas Day in England, Wales and Scotland" To clear it up, is it illegal to shoot wildfowl on christmas day in England? Edit to say this is what the W&CA 1981 says about it: (Part 1 Schedule 2 is all legal wildfowl quarry) (1)Subject to the provisions of this section, a person shall not be guilty of an offence under section 1 by reason of the ki
  3. Well, i am sad to see it go, but i have had a brilliant first season. (Photos to follow) A very good friend of mine has been taking me out, i've got to know the marsh and had some very very interesting flights. Sunday the 20th th tide was rubbish for us. It a 5.0 at 0021 so we werent expecting much. We got sat down in our favourite spot expecting the place to be packed with fowlers but it was just dog walkers. We set the decoys and waited. Not a single duck! Now we have seen some incredible numbers of duck this year, only coming away empty handed on 2 occasions, so to not see a duck or h
  4. Well after a days pheasant shooting yesterday, of which i drew the duff peg and saw 3 birds all day... my good fowling friend and i decided we'd have a go at the duck where we are more happy! An early alarm had me up to realise i have conjunctivitus and both my eyes were stuck shut. Half 5 came and i was loading the van up and heading out to collect my mate from his place at quarter to 6. Well it was a 4.9 at 8.30am so we knew the duck would be following it in to feed. We couldnt have been more wrong, and right at the same time! After a 10 minute walk we were in our favourite spot, aft
  5. Had numerous problems with them. That was a while ago and that was due to a container not turning up apparently! Maybe its the same comntainer that doesnt turn up? Seems like a common excuse to use! Steer well clear and spend your money elsewhere is all i can say. When my stuff eventually turned up after 2 months it wasnt what i ordered and it was broken anyway! Couldnt be bothered with chasing them up in the end and to get a refund as they took long enough to get me a product, i darent think how long it would take to get money back!
  6. Friday was my first proper experience! I have always had a soft spot for duck. This time last year i was roost shooting the pigeons, on the way back to the car i could hear the ducks and noticed they were dropping in on a splash in the corner of the field. Now where i shoot pigeons i have to use non-toxic shot, so i was all geared up to go. I walked over to the splash and downed a mallard. As i walked out to get her the water came up, over my boots and filled them. My legs were soaked, i was freezing, but i had a duck for the table. Now, how it happened i dont know, but before i knew it, i
  7. How did you get on yesterday? Some challenging stands but overall a good day i thought. Disappointed with my shooting personally, but i guess you always come awayu thinking you can do better...
  8. Which college are you with mate? I'll come over and make myself known...
  9. Is anyone shooting in this? Im heading off up to Derby on Tuesday with the college for the college qualifying round.
  10. it was good,. Not a hope in hell that he shot it though, watching it he couldnt hit a barn door. Especially with his head off the stock like that but thats besides the point. I'd love to get out there, blinds built in to the river bed seems like quite a good idea if you can guarentee flight lines...
  11. I have a new pond that the duck do feed off of, but the second they move off or the first shot is fired of the night, they move on to other feeding grounds that I cannot shoot. So im just looking for a good call so that i can call them in every now and again in between the times that i shoot it. Have been feeding it and have limited myself to a brace every 3 weeks to begin with so every now and again i want to sit and call and observe what is going on. Any recommendations for a call?
  12. I have the weekend i have been waiting for for ages! Im out tonight flighting a pond that i have set up myself and have started seeing some good duck coming in, then tomorrow myself and 3 friends leave for the south east for a full day of sport. Ferretting all morning, a walk up with the guns over lunch and with a bit of luck some pigeons out of the hedgerows. Break for a bit of early dinner before heading to the ponds for a flight for the evening. Back to the house for a decent dinner before we get out and do some lamping. Then, depending on what we see, drop the dogs off and get out and cl
  13. managed 3 pigeons with 1 shot whilst roost shooting this evening!

  14. Looks like i will have to mount it and sell then! It doesnt have too much of a hold on me as it was only a dispatch. My permission that this was on, has a decent amount of Roe on it, but due to the land being a flood plain and being able to see from one side clearly across all 500+ acres has meant that it hasnt been shot, and the local FAO wont even consider it certified for a rimmy as it is all split up by main roads. A real shame to be honest. Joe.
  15. I recently had to dispatch the largest Roe buck in the 20+ that are on my permission. He'd been hit by a car a while back and is a shame as he looked to have been a sizeable buck in his day. Antlers measure 28.2cm and 19cm at the widest point. Symetrical 6 pointer. Im not up on deer heads but he certainly looks the part.
