Rimfire barrels tend to need less cleaning than centrefires, but to maintain accuracy and barrel life it is a job that should not be neglected! A rimfire and barrel could last you for life if you look after it! Rimfire powders tend to be filthy compared to centrefire and the build up of debris/unburnt powder in the moderator can cause a lot of problems if not kept clean! Bore Snakes were only ever introduced as quick clean out in the field (originally for shotguns if I remember correctly) until you get home and do the job properly!

Lots of great Motown tracks (so my Dad told me)..what is really frightening is that many are over 40 years old and some nearly 50 years old! Of course I can't remember any of them!!!

Check Google News: International Condemnation. If ye multi lingual, hit ARCHIVES too. It's for real Cheers DS...I still struggle to believe this, perhaps I just don't want to let myself believe humanity has stooped to such a low level!

I received an email on this several weeks ago and dismissed it as a sick wind up....IF this is true it is appalling. What doesn't add up to me is what happened to all the animal rights people when this was happening, what happened to the RSPCA or equivalent, what happened to all the soft hearted women and children walking by this outrage, what happened to the authorities in the area and the owners of the exhibition...did they all miss this or consider it acceptable!!! Perhaps it is true, perhaps it did happen, and certainly if it did it is an absolute disgrace! Anyone remember hear

He has the Heavy Barrel Laminated, looks good and works well, (would have to suggest more of a range gun), it's too heavy by a mile for me, I'm just a big girlie really, want someting light and easy to cart around the fields!

This is just what I was looking for on this thread.....I had never even thought of this one, thanks for bringing it to the table but there is nobody around my way that carries this stuff..cheers though!!!

Appreciate the input and help but I rather think after due deliberation it will be one of the old favourites, .243 or .308. I quite favour the .308 but my FLO doesn't like the .308 for Fox (overkill he says) so odds are I will end up falling in line with most of the UK again and getting another .243. One more question.. What do you think of this package (.243) http://www.peterlawman.co.uk/howa.php I see the weak link as the scope/mounts, I did have one of these EXACT scopes, (it's on my lads Gamo Air rifle now) and whilst it offers good value for money I would prefer someth

There is no magic answer here, as not only are the barrels and loading systems different but so are we. Hope you find one that works well for you

air arms pellets are made by jsb. they just have the air arms name on the tin thats all its like some other places that have stuff made by the same firm. but there brand is on it. i wouldnt use biz mags in standard 12ftlb 22cal air rifle but i use them in a 12ftlb 177 air rifle to 3o yards and then use lighter air arms ones in the 22 to 30 yards and in the 177 to 40 yard in fac air arms are good to 28ftlb to 30 ftlb as long as the skirts are not damaged and biz mags 30ftlb and over. but i stick to 30ftlb in fac anyway and never go over it. wastes to much air and for not any gain re

Never too young and seldom too old! Enjoy the sport, we need more like you!

Looks a good one! You been painting your gun again or is it just the way the light hits it?? What have you got on the end of it Remmy and are you happy with it? Cheers

I was told exacty the same thing Deker when I phoned Air Arms to complain about damaged skirts on their pellets. They said the pressure of the air would reshape the damaged skirts.I was even told to try them out if I didn't believe them. So off I went to shoot some targets,I put 5 good pellets through the barrel and the accuracy was spot on. Then I selected 5 pellets with damaged skirts and the difference was unmistakable,i hit everything except the bull. You were just exhausted after the first five

Jamie had it spot on in the first reply. Trouble is different barrels do like different pellets. There are lots of excellent pellets out there but some are terrible in some barrels and brilliant in others. AA Field and Bisley Magnum are rated up to 30ft lb, but my opinion is that Bisley magnum are too heavy in a 12ft lb gun unless you are shooting very close range. The AA field do suffer from bent skirts because the alloy is soft, this is taken up virtually instantly down the barrel and will generally have no effect on the flight. Accupels, FTT, and a few others are worth a t

Unless you have it on a FAC the answer is 110% NO! Reading between the line you are sitting on a 5 year jail term!

Well....I better start saving then, don't deny I would like a 85.

I think I'll have to write to a Garda Comissioner after May, as centrefire moderators will be on a restricted list then. That doesn't mean they're impossible to get but I do expect some amount of hassle. I think myself I have good and genuine reasons for getting on though so I'll give it a try BEFORE I get my rifle threaded. I'll have to get more information from Irish sources myself before I go about applying though. Health and Safety (EARS), is a good arguement for a moderator and is the main reason they are granted "quite" easily in England now! 5 and certainly 10 years

NEITHER These things are simply an exercise in what can be done, if that's what you want then great, but I can't help thinking after a couple of shots you will tire of them and wonder whatever possessed you to buy one!!
-
http://www.jacksonrifles.com/sak22lr.htm As I think a few have already said, there is no requirement to have a moderator on your rimfire proofed. Simply buy an unproofed model (NO FAC required for this) and advise your firearms department you now have one fitted (as long as you have an existing slot for a moderator) Job done!

Thanks guys..I'm pretty sure the 270 is out, cracking round in many respects but I want something a little easier on the shoulder My knowledge of the 260 is virtually nil, I'll have to do some digging! The 6.5x55 and the 25.06 are worthy of a closer look, what's the ammo choice and availability like?
-
You will have a problem doing any better than a SAK for £30 on a HMR. You may just improve it by 1 or 2db at best but it will seriously cost you!
-
I have decided to indulge myself with a new rifle or two...now..... I have a pretty fair knowledge of guns, calibres and ammo but have I missed something??? It must be a field gun but I expect I will throw some down the range at Bisley with it! calibre........ It must be ALL DEER legal, I don't want it to knock me over, ammo must be a sensible price and readily available! Moderator.......as good as sensible and with minimum or no effect on gun balance! Gun...... OK..suggest a make and model please (my preference is for light guns, I'm not a fan of heavy stuff as I end up carrying

Gmk.co.uk are the importers, they will tell you if they have any in stock themselves and also who they last shipped one to in your area!
-
I suspect that unfortunately the police simply don't know what they are doing!
-
An IDEAL length depends on what you want to do with it, but I would not suggest you go any less than 16" on a 17HMR. Two useful and constructive responses above already!

Everything ive ever hit with a centrefire has either been dead there and then or died after the initial adrenalin has worn off .Call me a liar if you want mate but fact is fact .If you are still advocating the .22 to total strangers then i must question your own ethics because having been there and done most things with the rimmy i know what is and what is not exceptable . Come on Foxdropper, chill out, I have a lot of time for your comments and I am NOT advocating the .22 LR for Foxes, I am suggesting it has its place and it is innapropropriate to make a blanket statement saying
