  1. SILVER SAK Sound Moderator for sale, 1/2inch UNF thread, NOT proofed, so available to anyone through the post...brand new, unmarked and never had a shot through it. It's a long story.....!!! £30 delivered anywhere in UK Mainland.
  2. I can't deny, for what is still very early days, I have shot some half decent groups with Mr L's guns and his own loads. Just can't be doing with it myself at the moment, but like they say, Never say Never..........one question...........what colour Anorak do I need to join the club??
  3. .......but this one comes with mounts and a top of the range Weaver Scope ...I was forgetting..you have the odd spare scope and set of mounts
  4. Well done mr L, good to hear you are coming back to the hornet club very very underated round What rifle are you getting, if you need any info on reloading this cal, give a shout Keith Very possibly a dodgy CZ 527 I was playing with earlier today
  5. News to me black rabbits are immune to Mixxy so don't feel guilty, if that was the case there would be millions of them. As far as I am aware EVERY domesticated rabbit is susceptible, there are recognised cures at the vet, if you can get in early enough and your pockets are deep enough, but the survival rate even with expert care is VERY low!! Lots of European Rabbits flea free in Berkshire as well!!
  6. JP will cross you off his Christmas list if he found out you were advertising his phone number on a public forum!!!
  7. Can you confirm if that actually works when you try please, I'll add it to my list!! Cheers!!
  8. All makes perfect sense Deker, however, it seems that after evey clean the zero needs resetting, its costing me £4 after every clean. i know that it's common that after cleaning the groups will open up for between 4-10 rounds, but after putting 10 rounds through it after the clean the zero is different. If half the people who have answered the above poll only clean the bore after the groups open up, it does seem that its a personal prefference. Also got told today that the hmr will fire better when dirty, after 40rounds??? I'm thinking that every 100 rounds, the bore will get a go
  9. You'd have thought for £800 they may have made the scope and mounts the same colour!!!
  10. Vermin!!!??? Fox!!!!!????? Rimfire!!!!!!???? The Law!!!!!???? Think we have been here before...search THL for lots of debate on this subject!!
  11. Chap...I am getting confused..apparently you have the land, you have the permission..so not trying to be funny, what is going to get refused and why do you think that might happen??
  12. That's it basically....a rimfire firing pin hits the edge of the cartridge case where the primer is carried and a centrefire pin hits the percussion cap primer in the centre of the cartridge, powders and power are a lot different in each as well as calibres. Rimfires tend to stop at .22 and 40g (there is at least one at 60g though) and around 350ft lb.....centrefires do have some small calibres, but powers is dramatically higher, minimum is usually around 450ft lb up to around 15,000ft lb.......just to give you an idea and a generalisation!
  13. Don't think I have seen a picture of it either, and according to the CZ website it does not exist...good to see they keep their site so up to date!!!!!! I'll try and get a picture or two taken and posted, but you will still have to look hard to see the differences, probably take me a couple of days!! I suspect, if you can get one for £300 now it's a pretty good deal...AND I forgot...I also got a spare magazine thrown in with my deal, so pretty happy all round, especially as I put 4 shots in the same hole at 100 yards on Saturday...see if I can get a picture taken of that as well!!
  14. This can certainly do no harm, but club target work has little or nothing to do with walking around the countryside shooting vermin!! If you have the land and the reason then you do not need any club target shooting background!!

    gun lamps

Everyone has an opinion, a view and a use, but I struggle to understand how Logan stay in business with their lamp...it really is appalling. Uttings do a very good deal on a Tracer Mini and Max PRO kit (both with everything you need) and a dimmer switch. Always get a bit more than you think you want, that way you will not be disappointed and get a bit of future proofing as well!!
  16. I am curious to know how you all clean your BORE SNAKES??? Do you wash these out regularly and if so how??? Cheers!!
  17. sniper1 Terminal speed, weight, composition and what they actually hit makes a lot of difference to expansion of bullets. I have seen lots of different end results with exactly the same ammo from the same gun.....but....if THE BULLET WENT IN JUST BEHIND THE FRONT LEG AND CAME OUT THE OPPOSITE SHOULDER. IN MY EYES A PERFECT SHOT Foxey should have dropped whatever the 22-250 bullet was made off...some adrenalin rush if that ran off!! PS. CAPS LOCK key is usually on the left of the keyboard, all you have to do is touch it once and you can talk like the rest of us
  18. I think you will get a vast number of different responses. Bear in mind everyone has their own view, everyone uses the gun differently and cleans it differently. The HMR is a tiny bore and needs top quality rods/tools and chemicals and the greatest of care must be excercised to clean it comprehensively and sympathetically. And don't forget the Moderator as well!! For good consistant shooting it is vital to keep the bore/rifling/crown (and all the other bits) clear of all fouling....that means cleaning!! CAREFULLY, thoroughly and regularly!!!
  19. ALL my scopes are now Mildot, but it's down to personal choice, can't get on with the Duplex any more and the Boone & Crocket is really just a small Chritmas tree..too small for me...but there are Loads of reticles, even Leupold has masses! So it really is personal choice, many (MOST) will promote the reticle they use!! ATB!!!
  20. Actually it is a bit confusing with regard Hare, but I see it as... If you have permission to shoot on a farm/estate/etc/etc with clearly defined boundaries you can shoot them ALL year...the closed season does not apply. There is only a closed season on moorland or unenclosed land an only then in some circumstances. No shooting Game FOR SPORT on Sundays, includes birds and Deer (...there are exceptions for Vermin control, Humane despatch, etc). It is suggested this was to give the peasants a chance to practice their Archery skills on Sundays (on targets) and more recently (100-15
  21. Hare season is : 1 August - 29 February http://www.willogame.co.uk/game_seasons.htm It isn't that simple......Hares cannot be sold from Mar 1 to July 31. If the land you shoot hares on is classed as moorland or unenclosed land and your permission on that land is through the landowner or occupier then a close season and other restrictions may legally apply on that land. ...and you are not meant to shoot them on Sundays, and a few other days of the year as well!!!
  22. Check out...Best Fox Calibre poll in the FAQ section.... .223 just edges it at the moment. Taken in isolation, as a calibre there is no doubt the 22-250 is a first class fox tool, but there is a wider picture which many also have to consider...... compared with .223 ammo is more expensive, less choice, gun is noisier, will not last as long. So if you are ok with that, then no question a 22-250 is a very capable fox tool. I run all the common stuff, .223, .243, .308 and personally, with the ammo choice available for that lot I have no need of a 22-250!! I could be tempted t
  23. aaronpigeonplucker If only life was that easy...at the very best you will only get an idea from all the responses, everyone shoots differently, has a different gun, barrel, moderator, loading system, power system, scope, etc, etc ...... oh yes........and everybody has a different impression of how far 25 yards is a well!!! My old Daystate used to LOVE Acupells but my Falcon HATED them...so, is the pellet excellent or useless???? The Superdomes are very good, and for very short range you will be hard pressed to better Bisley Magnum, but my Falcon now runs almost exclusively on AA F
  24. Cleaning is a difficult issue, and, as seen here there are a lot of different views on it! I would tend to agree with Woz, cleaning is very important to accuracy and overall life of the tools themslves. I think the issue is more HOW you clean rather than cleaning too often, this is a delicate, frustrating and time consuming job when done sympathetically and correctly. Copper deposits are a nightmare if left to build up and will cause considerable grief to a barrel and accuracy, powder residue is not so bad in the rimfires but filthy just the same (powder residue in the shotgun is a
