  1. Chap..I think you need to slow down a little, sounds like you are going a bit too fast...180 acres, a .243 and all the bits, High Seats etc, etc, etc, how many deer do you have to shoot before your business dies with them???
  2. What happens to the shots after this, does it shoot straight again...not sure what to say from what you have stated.....this sounds very strange!
  3. I don't think some of you guys get out enough...17HMR is not better, and .22LR is not better on bunnies. Some land favours one or the other, some neighbours want it quiet, some are closer and some further away....it isn't a matter of which is best, if you are a professional or have lots of different land I can recommend BOTH....they are different and have different good and bad points. If however, I had to dump every single rifle I have (including all the centrefires) and only keep just one ..it would be the .22LR!!
  4. £8.90 for 50 is hot, I'm paying £100 for 500 and thats not bad my way!!
  5. Blimey..times have changed, it was only August/September 2008 when I got my Eric Bkooks trigger delivered from the US for just over £8. As already mentioned the kits are different to Rimfire Magic!
  6. Sound advice/suggestion I'd say..the .308 may be getting long in the tooth but it still has a LOT going for it!!
  7. Going on my tikka t3 223/243 Now there is a coincidence..I have a T3 Lite in .223 and a T3 Hunter in .243, the Deben Max Pro works for me on both of these! I have the metal mounts permanently on all my scopes, I also run a Mini Pro........I use these for mounts... HM5207 Weaver 1" HIGH Two Piece £ 6.50 AVAILABLE from Deben...price is for a PAIR... Deben charge £7.50 EACH for their metal scope mounts for the Tracer....so even if you only want one it is still cheaper. They are the same thing!!! Saves a fortune!!! But don't tell anyone I told you!!!! PS ..as othe
  8. There will be lots of answers here... Never been able to get on with the bore foam, especially in the small calibres, either sprays out the end of the barrel and pebbledashes the whole room or blows up on me at the breech end...so I stick with the solvents these days...Hoppes Benchrest 9 Copper Solvent is as good as any, seems to shift most things, then a bit of oil...but like I say the list will go on and everyone will have favourites. I doubt there is much difference between all the solvents and oils!
  9. Depends on your definition of better. The bigger lightforce are a little brighter, but cost more, eat batteries quicker, are more expensive and in my experience have daft reliability problems!! The Max Pro is a good all round package of lamp, scope mount, charger, cigar lighter adapter, battery, carry pouch, dimmer switch and if you get one from Uttings at the moment just £99 for the LOT and a free red filter.....I'm very happy with mine as it does everything I want and I recon it's a good package...doesn't necessarily mean it's the best!! PS This needs to be in the FAQ section, c
  10. Totally agree, not looking for grief or debate, we all have our own ways of doing things, but the Bore Snake was originally "invented" to give the shotgun a quick once over when you had finished with it in the field as the Nitro powders in many cartridges was so corrosive. It has been developed and marketed now as a clean all solution..it isn't!!! ...and be very careful to pull straight out of the barrel and not always over the side of the crown!!
  11. So is that like college and for gamekeepers or is it another version of a DSC???
  12. get an escort mate all the ones i have seen are cheep, reliable, cycle everything 28 gram and heavyer, a good all round working gun on a budget I think some of us have other views... Mine blew the barrel up from brand new after about 40 cartridges, the replacement barrel didn't fit, and the next replacement wouldn't cycle...other than that they are Cheap CRAP!!! Gun returned and FULL refund recieved! Never again! Get a better make of used gun!!
  13. I think I have missed something here..what is a DMQ and what are you doing it in?? Run with me...I'm an old boy now and these new fangled initials lose me!!
  14. Because the law is an ass mate That's why I responded as below...... .223 is a very capable Roe calibre wherever you are but if you are in Scotland it has the bonus of being legal My .223 is conditioned for Roe in Scotland, obviously not England...the Roe themselves are just as dead whatever nationality they may be..... The Law is an ***!! It's a long story but Roe were originally included in the Deer Act Amendment in 2007 for the .22 centrefire calibres. A question was then asked and the RSPCA consulted...can you adam and eve it, what the f*** do they know about shooting R
  15. Totaly agree with you, ive had a triple for 2 years now and havent seen a 223 do anything that i cant I would tend to agree and I don't think there is generally much arguement here about that. Problem with the .222 is simply that few chamber it now, ammo is getting harder to find, less choice and more expensive. .223 goes from strength to strength with lots of easy to find AND in some case very cheap ammo! If you reload then .222 is relatively future proofed and fine..if you intend to keep a .222 then perhaps an idea to consider reloading if you don't. I would find it di
  16. Flippin 'ek..that doesn't sound encouraging. Have you still got it or has it gone?? the .204 was designed with 32 in mind I understand but a 4" group with 40g is certainly not good!! It has gone to Highland Outdoors. I am promised that this will shoot the 40 grain stuff or it will be replaced by one that does. So long as they test the replacement and send me the card with it, can't say fairer than that. Gunshop was talking about further testing, which of course would be financed by me at £1.50 a shot. Sod that one I figured I could have played around with the lighter bullets a
  17. same as west mercia combination of more than 9 guns shotguns/rifles & silencers an you must fit alarm hope this helps Andrew, are they counting a silencer as a firearm in that equation, that would put me well over already........Martin. This Just goes to show the different regions opinions....I currently have 8 FAC tools and 3 shotguns sitting in the cabinets...ALL the rifles have moderators....so arguably 16 + the shotguns!!!! No Alarm specified round here!!
  18. .223 is a very capable Roe calibre wherever you are but if you are in Scotland it has the bonus of being legal!
  19. I'd go with that, but my FEO will also help in these matters...so he has said historically, but never tested him!! Worth a hypothetical chat with your firearms department from a public phone box perhaps!! A delicate matter whatever, but if everything is legitimate nothing to be concerned about!
  20. Flippin 'ek..that doesn't sound encouraging. Have you still got it or has it gone?? the .204 was designed with 32 in mind I understand but a 4" group with 40g is certainly not good!!
  21. I have the T3 Lite Stainless .223 and HAVE scratched the butt, they are harder to repair than wood!, I also have the T3 Hunter in .243! I love the Hunter and I love the synthetic..BUT I find the Tikka T3 Lite a pain, the balance is terrible with even a fairly small moderator on the end. My Lite is away at the moment for a barrel chop. The Hunter is great! I do like synthetic though and I have just got a Rem700SPS Stainless in .308...the balance is brilliant compared to the T3 Lite, if this barrel chop on the Lite does not do the trick it is going!
  22. Sounds the normalish sort of response you get these days...but it will vary from region to region, and very often even between different FEO in the SAME region!!
  23. So will a 22-250, 243, 260, 270, etc, etc, and don't forget the .204, suggested by some as THE Fox calibre..but yet to prove itself long term!! Probably best to keep nearer to the original question or this could run away anywhere!
  24. Good professional work.......so I struggle with certain comments levelled here.
