Little or no difference on a Fox at 150 yards. .223 has a major advantage over bullet choice and availability. The .222 is slowly on the way out and ammo is getting steadily harder to find, more expensive and less choice. Not really a problem if you reload, if you don't then perhaps consider a .223. Charlie won't know what hit him either way!!

how many shotguns, firearms can you posses?
Deker replied to marsh's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The simple answer is as many as you can justify!!! On FAC, you will find the limit when they refuse! On SGC, NO specific number, but questions usually start getting asked when you get up to about 20, primarily storage/safety and "is he dealing"??? -
what do you do to you rifle when you clean it then? get rid of the powder fouling and then remove the copper? so that the patch stops coming out green? Ta RIFLES Hoppes Copper Solvent..every outing....it comes out black and then shades of grey through to clear as it cleans, never had enough copper in the barrel for it to come out green!! Napier Gun Cleaner, Legia, Express Gun Oil, all have their uses for other cleaning work...and there are specific powder solvents, although I find this lot perfectly capable. There are lots of other makes/names of cleaners and I suspect the

NOPE...has to be officially done and certified!

Every firm has hickups/problems from time to time, but I have been dealing with them for many years and never have, neither have several other people I know who have put a lot of money their way as well!!

ALL of the Above...but each to their own.......consider also the Predator 8 Compact, 590g, 155g less than full length ...(these weights are accurate; weighed, and in both cases heavier than manufactures figures..no surprise there!! ) and does the same job as the full lengh version up to .243 and hopefully .308 as I have now ordered one for that!!

As said the principle is highly illegal today, however there are dispensations for old/antiques, not sure of the detail so check with the police but I think it has to either be at least 100years old or pre 1900, not sure why I think that just something at the back of my mind. If it is an original and old...not a copy, it is worth substantially more than you paid, but don't think about a world cruise!!

It can be a pain and a chore cleaning the guns but look after them and they will look after you. Don't quite understand a 3 month cleaning routine, as others have said clean the rifle every outing. Copper can be very stubborn if left to build up! Shotguns are somewhat different, and the residue left from many shotgun cartridges are VERY corrosive, they will make a serious mess of your lovely smooth barrels and block in no time if left, powder is also often a real pain to clean from many semi autos...but cleaning is vital!

Even though size still matters it is really about topography.....not sure about north of the border, but 200 acres around this part of the world would normally be fine!!
-
In principle I tend to agree with you, and more and more regions are insisting on DSC before granting the deer condition, even though it has no basis in law! Apparently the likes of the FC are looking for it too before handing out contracts! Nothing stands still, we all know that, and times change, but there was never any of this malarky back in the "good old days", and I can't say I remember a whole load of grief back then!!

Chap...we seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet, but this seems to suggest a bit more than 10-25ft sec reduction http://www.guntrader.co.uk/phpBB3/main.php ...but it is of course .223!!!

What exactly have you bought..many options come with adaptors!!

These days the majority of regions insist on a DSC or a Deer Mentor BEFORE they grant a deer condition!!...not all, and not always, I have all my paperwork without any of this, BUT times chance!!! MrA Allready has Deer condition, but FC demand DSC, and will not let us even negotiate leases without DSC2. Not sure if the same condition is true south of the border. Needs Must. I'm afraid Interesting, and I don't know the answer, I don't have any FC land but I do have some National Trust, and no problem with them!! Hey Ho!!!

We are drifting a little..so what's new...but in the field I go out of my way to avoid free standing 100 yard (or more) shots with ANY tool...to the point I will often refuse. I will do anything I can to find a gate, fence, tree, shed (bipod of course) or anything possible to get some extra support! I would never suggest I could achieve a group like that in the field....f*** me...I wish!!!

The owner has bunny problems at this stables.......as I arrived and drove down the lane I saw a Roe Doe drinking from a trough on the stables, still there as I kitted and gunned up ...anyway, visited, surveyed and walked previously...first shoot today...15.30-19.00 ......only found out today that about 20 acres of woodland (the distantly owned neighbours land) was also included. Roe Buck and Doe at 25 yards and pheasants who didn't give a toss about me ... ALL off the menu.. Hit the Rabbit and Magpie...s***, stop thinking what could be...anyway I told the landowner to tell all the neig

All the best...I hope it happens for you...for some historical reason I have my Deer ticket without any of this Malarky, I'm also a deer Mentor, but I suspect I would find the course useful anyway!!

There isn't a best, each piece of land generates different results for different reasons!! A UV filter "MAY" be good ..if you can find one for your unit and the lamp is bright enough to start with to penetrate it!! Most say RED!! I say forget them all... and buy a unit with a dimmer switch and work it!!!

Simple fact is I don't know...BUT measured from where the barrel comes out of the block it is 19inches exactly..so a little bit more than that!! This is the length now being supplied from Tikka with the latest screw cut versions. With regards performance I have nothing to compare it with..it's a hunting tool and works, although it didn't have any problem getting me V Bulls at Bisley on 500 yards with cheap PRVI ammo...and it wasn't just me...my boy did the same trick with it. I spoke with GMK before I got it though and asked about performance, they admitted that depending what ammo y

Guys ......this goes back to another era...£20.50 ain't a bad price at all today!!!

First off, the only reason I posted this was because it was a bit good for me, they don't often work out this well...I would normally be happy to put 3 shots in a thumbnail at 100yards Hornady, Remington, Winchester, all 17g, group very similar, but Hornady seem to be about 1/2 inch lower at 100yards. Federal for some reason did not happen too well for me, not sure why! In the right conditions I would not be happy with a 1.5 inch group with the HMR at 100. CCI, I have only used the 20g HP...good for a laugh but...the HMR seems very much a 17g tool. Crosswinds are not good for th

Bolted some new glass on top of the HMR a few days back......100 yard zero session with Hornady 17g. This doesn't happen for me every day unfortunately, so take a look...closely...that is 4 shots in the hole!!!! Click picture to zoom in, I have conveniently numbered the holes for you!!
