For what reason would you take the Theoben Dekker?. The Theoben wins on .....balance, feel, durability, shots per charge, reliability, FAC ability, etc, and anything you want advice on, or doing to it, simply a phone call or trip to Somersham...oh yes...and if you are passionate about these things it is also British (but lets not talk too much about the origin of the barrels !!! ) Accuracy wise they are on a par. The HW is just wrong for me somehow, it seems to lack something, and German overengineered, not unreliable, but for all its weight it is simply not as durable or versa

John Cooper at Falcon always suggested around 185bar but many push that up to around 200!

Chaps..get real..Hawke scopes are made to different levels by several different manufacturers, and some are Excellent for the money and some..well not as good, also remember budget price mass produced items do have problems from time to time! Hawke seems to be branded bad here, that is not true or representative, certainly SOME are not great! Many of the current range of Simmons are terrible, but the WTC was an excellent value for money range, and I know MANY people who have experienced problems with Nikko Sterling and others mentioned here!! Just be careful about generalisations!!

This thread sounds very familier...anyway, probably the HW100 at the moment but I'd take the Theoben every time!!

The Fox seldom if ever leaves anything he kills, he is sometimes disturbed and not able to retrieve all his kills..simple as!! This is all too often interpreted as... he just kills for fun!! Although i am well and truly pissed off with the post still lingering around i find it hard to believe that some people just cant come to terms with a fox killing just for the sake of it. We all know that if all the birds killed were left where the died that the fox would return for a feed but this does not explain why the Badger, stoat, weasel and birds of prey dont act in the same way when faced

Agree with you totally.Read thread on Airgun BBS and think you got a c**p response. Common sense is needed in choice of calibre and FEO area advice as well as BBS. Unfortunately the answer to all this FOX/VERMIN malarky is, there is no answer...as far as I am aware this has never been challenged in the courts! Do I care..my .2LR is specifically conditioned for fox, not a lot to argue about there!! BUT, I do understand the frustration/confusion of many, many others!!!

Chill out and...........lots of different fox situations..... Phrases you use above show limited experience get the job done properly so a .223 is getting the job done properly at 20 yards in the hay barn next to the farm house and stables in the middle of the night??? Generalisations with no open end always cause problems. in my experience there are lots of times when a .22LR with a 40g HP sub is the tool of choice, preference and ability!! There are other times when a .243 and indeed, perhaps even bigger is the tool of choice!!
-
YES it is!! Consider!!!! a number of regions are more than happy to issue Ground Game and Vermin on you .22LR, but absolutely refuse to issue FOX...explain that one!! The arguement from most regions is that fox is a category on its own......... .......................BUT.....................................????????????????????????????????????

The WTC, and especially the 3.5-10x50 is an excellent scope for the money. god knows why it has been discontinued, got one in about 2000..excellent ...it was £210 for about 8 years and sold very well, shop around and I think you will find them for about £130 now..a bargain!!! Well built and good optics!!

Sub sonic .22LR 40g lends itself to 50-60 yards...High velocity 60-100yards, but HP tends to be less accurate than subs and you will be hard pressed to get a respectable group at 100 yards with any high velocity .22lr, but plenty of power there to stop bunny. Rabbit---Fox..the debate will rage on, the police regions show no consistancy, and I am simply content thet my .22LR specifically lists FOX on my FAC so no debate whichever way you want to look at it!!

I'd go alone with much of this..GMK are a shower, I had massive grief getting both my T3 Lite and T3 Hunter, they are not cheap but not outrageously priced either. I have considered Remington all along and my latest is a 700SPS Stainless, too early to make a proper comparison but for a dedicated Tikka owner I have now bought a Remington.... now don't get me wrong, I am not going off Tikka, but there are others out there worth looking at!!

Fultons tend to charge list on everything and often add a bit on top, BUT what on earth ammo cost £49. for 20???

You have to screw the base to the ring before mounting on the gun, this has to be lined up by eye, unless someone has a technical way of doing it. There is no locating on the joint and it can be easy for many to get this connection twisted, if you do then scope can be damaged or zeroing become difficult/impossible as the scope is not straight..in short a f*****g useless design for any mount, let alone one costing £100. BUT .......mine have stayed true, and I haven't had any problems, I just consider it a flawed design and vastly overpriced!! I have Sportsmatch on my other Tikka, they c

When did John go?????????

I run Optilock and Sportsmatch. Hated the Optilock, overpriced and an inherent design fault, so looked for an alternative on my second Tikka. Sportsmatch worked great and only about £22-£24 I seem to recall...the big BUT is, you will not fit a 56mm objective scope on then, you will need an additional adaptor, check out http://www.sportsmatch-uk.com/ There are others out there!!

Simple answer is NO, if a RFD knows the moderator is to be fitted on a FAC gun!! You MUST get a variation on your FAC. BUT, you can buy moderators for air rifles without a FAC, and some of these are suitable for rimfires, but if you put this mod on your FAC gun you are breaking the law....just get the variation, not difficult these days!!

Got my new T3 Hunter with the shorter threaded barrel a few months back, been pretty happy all round, it all fell in to place and balanced much better than my T3 Lite. Not tried that much ammo in it, and it depends on what you really want to do with it to, PRVI 90g SP and 100g SP is perfectly adequate for me, and Sako is fine. I need to try a few more for cost and performance. We all want accuracy, and terminal effect is important, so it will probably be a bit of trial and error!! Get your reloading gear sorted No time for that, trying to sort out the new .308, and th

Just like us, the bunny (and many other animals) are not well keen on bad weather! Bunny will often go a couple of days without grub, and are always less active and spend more time down their burrows in the winter, so, seen less and eat less anyway! They suppliment the lean times by living off their fat deposits, but sooner or later they will come up for food. Light wise, just use a dimmer switch on the lamp, you will not need much light with a white snow covering, and tracks are also easy to see in fresh snow, always a help!

Suck on your hand!! Blow/whistle! Just make squeeking noises with your mouth!! Practice, fox is naturaly curious and will react to lots of types of squeeking, I used my hands/mouth for years until only a year of 2 back when I was so cold/shivering/wet/windswept I simply couldn't make any reasonable noise, and a fox in sight...decided it was time to buy a call.... http://www.foxcalluk.co.uk/ Not the best in the world but does for me most of the time...just £10 when I got it!!!

I don't quite understand this one, Sound Moderators are sweeping the country and demand is strong...many rifle barrels need shortening or the balance screws up, hence why Tikka, etc are now all arriving in the country with SHORTER Threaded barrels, far from devaluing the gun I would suggest it will enhance the price! IMHO. Thread protectors are easy to come by, many dealers will simply give you one...BUT, so what anyway if you have a moderator fitted!! To answer this.... I have know doubt that " Sound Moderators are sweeping the country " but I would not buy a standard ri

I wana ask you lot a question

First off what do you want it for??? Second... ..the CZ is a better rifle for most things than a 10/22.... But you can have more fun with a 10/22 if you can keep it working!! -
Not sure your argument works mate. I don't doubt that the .222 will do the job, but when you say 'nothing can compete' - what are you meaning? 222 works, but there are far better calibres. If you want to talk lack of powder to get the job done, try a Hornet with 13grains of lil' gun, works to 200 yards as well. 223 has more velocity than 222 and is therefore flatter and slightly harder hitting, and terms of accuracy, well, hrmph! Get the right rifle and the right load and 223 will compete with anything you like. One thing to add, if you are buying supposed .223 Ammo from the M.O.D. t

Sorry to those that have already seen this...172 in total I see to remember...92 I think in this picture, interestingly, and I have not thought about it before, but it was ONLY SQUIRRELS I shot on this site...nothing else at all. Yep, that's me....
