It ain't the movies.....close, they may have a (limited) use, but zero is critical.....longer range a waste of space....

Where to keep your certificate
Deker replied to lorelei0922's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Lots of companies will sell you a cover/wallet for your FAC/SGC..the firerms departments used to send them out in a plastic cover. I have copies of my FAC/SGC and carry these in the slips..only times I take out the original is when essential...new FAC are interesting..when you photocopy them the word forgery appears!! -
This debate has caused a lot of interest here and some answers are to be found in FAQ, .222 is a first class round but is on the way out, if the question is which of the 2 you list the answer is without doubt .223!! Time to duck..

Looking for advice on 5 shot semi auto shotgun
Deker replied to vannoch's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I'm curious about this..you need a seriously good reason to get a FAC shotgun, both from a financial and FAC point of view....perhaps another thread coming on....!! You can load any semi (live) so it cannot be very often you need more than 3 VERY quickly, but obviously you may sometimes!!! -
Lest anyone be confused, I was joking about Brasso....the Tumblers are excellent..turn on and have a pint (joking again,... if you are reloading). Know nothing about the sonic cleaners!!

We are wondering into areas nothing to do with shooting..problem with Open Forums is anybody can ask any question, and anyone can respond in any way they want Time to move on I think!!

http://www.accuratereloading.com/223sb.html Its about the .223 but still interesting!!!

Some of the JSR own brand worth looking at too, build quality is not the best in the world but optics are remarkably good for the money. No recoil of a .22LR so lots of people use budget scopes and mounts on them...not usually a problem, but there is some real tat about so just be a little careful!!

The Fox seldom if ever leaves anything he kills, he is sometimes disturbed and not able to retrieve all his kills..simple as!! This is all too often interpreted as... he just kills for fun!!

question regarding new permission
Deker replied to jamiethehunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
After 10 years you should have an easy time getting an OPEN ticket, do that asap, saves a lot of ongoing grief!!! -
No change in the twist rate that I have seen....!!

Looking for advice on 5 shot semi auto shotgun
Deker replied to vannoch's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You have got to have a serious reson to buy anything more than a 3 shot Shotgun..they cost more to buy on the whole..are worth about half the resale of a sub 3 shot and you need a FAC!!! But they do have their uses!! -
Kev I'd give the .22 a miss and go for a .17hmr ....... its quicker, flatter, less prone to ricochet Thanks spanj thats been helpful Seems spanj knows all your land inside out..he forgot to mention .17hmr makes a lot of noise whatever moderator you put on it and the ammo is 3 to 4 times the price of .22LR, power of 17g HMR around 245ft lb and .22LR 40g sub around around 100ft lb..tailor you gun to your land and quarry!! I run .22LR, .17HMR, .22WMR in rimfire because I have a use for them ALL!!! EDIT..as a matter of interest if I HAD to dump one..the HMR would be the fir

Can't remember the last time I saw SSG or LG, if you find any let me know where...Cheers!!! SG not so bad but still not on every shelf!!

Brasso, rubber gloves and a lot of time! Good fun this reloading malarky isn't it!!
-
Despite the relatively recent arrival of the .17HMR, the .22LR is still the mainstay of rabbit shooting, however the land is the key, and some land may well favour the HMR/WMR/or even a centrefire!! Fox wonders into another area altogether, and whilst the .22LR..other rimfires and centrefires debate rages on for fox, it is once again down to the situation/land..and dare I say your firearms region!!

i just ordered the lithium ion battery pack from north east field sports to replace my lead acid packs will let you know how i get on,im sick of carrying the heavy 20ahr pack on the hill All shooting and all land/circumstances are different, I am perhaps fortunate that I don't have to cart around 20 ah worth or batteries, if i run short I just change to another 7.2 or 9ah...but around £300 for 20ah Lithium!!!

I don't quite understand this one, Sound Moderators are sweeping the country and demand is strong...many rifle barrels need shortening or the balance screws up, hence why Tikka, etc are now all arriving in the country with SHORTER Threaded barrels, far from devaluing the gun I would suggest it will enhance the price! IMHO. Thread protectors are easy to come by, many dealers will simply give you one...BUT, so what anyway if you have a moderator fitted!!

Cheers for that...he is only a few miles from me...I'll give him a call Monday!!

Not got one and never had a rangefinder but I am considering!!! This thing seems quite popular and is relatively innexpensive, I do not want to spend a load of money, so only looking at the low end of the market and happy with anything that works!! Any views on the above rangefinder or any other "cheap" ones, good or bad views..ones to buy, ones to avoid!!! Cheers!!

The build quality isn't THAT BAD, but the likes of the HW100 or Rapid7 feel more solid! The Prairie is better made!

I have a .22 Falcon FN19RS running a 26ft lbs. It has a barrel as flexible as a bass guitar string, but is well tuned and still delivers 32 full power shots at 26ft lbs. Build quality is not the best in the world, the loading probe is a little fussy about pellets (but it loves AAField and Bisley Magnums), but it is light and easy...and for some reason it is VERY accurate!!! I suggest several rifles are better engineered but I have had it from new (2000) and have no desire or need to trade it in!!

The latest models are coming in screw cut from Tikka and around 19 or 191/2" inches!! Ask GMK for confirmation!!!
-
I have 2 standard 7.2ah batteries for my Debens and a 9ah. Nothing to stop you carrying around as much ah as you can carry! It's not quite as simple as a 14 giving twice the lamping time of a 7, but in principle the answer is yes it will!!

Do I need a Passport to get over the Bridge these days now you have your own government??? ...and I went to see my top reloading man today...the chap where Tom got all his stuff...all I would say is BALLS... (seems a much better bet than extruded) You need to Pay at the gate :D And beware of angry Owain Glyndwr separatists throwing icicles from the stantions of the bridge Completely lost with the second bit................................... reloading....powder...balls or extruded!!! See..I'm nearly an expert now!!!
