  1. I'm sure you have read it but not relations, RFD, Police etc and they must have known you for a minimum of 2 years. It's always good if you can get a FAC/SGC holder to be a refereee, not much arguement they are acceptable and good standing!!
  2. Thats about the size of it, but as already said if this is your first FAC application you will need to put a strong case for them to give you 3 x .22lr on first grant!
  3. I think that this whole issue could turn into a lawers breakfast in a big hurry if it ever came to court and the defandant decided to put up a big fight. The first big, big, issue you will face is one of interpretation. I mean, your FAC tells you what ammo you can acquire by quantity and calibre. However, "calibre" is not defined in the Act, as far as I'm aware. What does it refer to in a legal sense? Is it ammunition which has bullet of a certain diameter; or designed to be used in a firearm with a certain bore diameter - and if so is that land or groove diameter? Also, what about stuff w
  4. What has this got to do with you buying the wrong ammo which is not listed on your FAC! I'm bored with you..... Go and waste someone else's time..but feel free to answer this and my previous post first
  5. Clutching at straws, ignoring the facts, ignoring the post and throwing in red herrings again hey, so whats new? If you have something then say then say it clear and loud and SHOW the evidence! Which part of you can only legally buy what it says on your FAC do you have a problem understanding? Neither I nor the law gives a toss who writes what, and calls it whatever they want, that has no bearing on what is printed on your FAC! Have a nice day!
  6. Why-oh-why-oh-why do you have to go on the defensive 100% of the time, did the big boys kick eight shades of $h!te out of you in school or what? I have shot .308 in a 7.62mm Mil rifle with no issues at all. YOU are playing the odds! My mate shoots 100's of Mil ammo in his Howa .308 with no issues at all. that shouldn't cause a problem as the .308 should deal with 7.62 Both rounds are exactly the same from what I can see, You read the wrong book just stated in Imperial and metric terminology. I am hazarding a wild guess that because NATO covers most of Europe, and most of Europe uses
  7. It is illegal to buy ammo not listed on your FAC! Just which part of that do you find a problem to understand, wether or not your dealer of region want to ignore the fact it is Illegal is down to them, it doesn't make it legal!! How about .300 or .303, thats nearly the same as well, try that!! .308 and 7.62x51 factory ammo are most certainly NOT the same, so can you get 7.62x39 on this FAC as well seeing as the head is the same and the calibre is the same and it says 7.62 on the ammo which is the same as .308?? After all they are all .308, and as it isn't written on your FAC I'm sure
  8. Guys PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I've been around a bit longer than many of you and perhaps I'm just a bit harder to convince...... It's in the papers now, it must be true, ... even though it happened 6 months ago Nobody ever heard of propoganda, we filled the media with it in the Falklands and just about every conflict you can name, it's all part of warfare!! There remains a funny smell about this, perhaps it is just the way the Army PR department has dealt with it!! It may well be true, but anyone who knows anything about shooting will still
  9. The main point is that people are saying that this is a horrendously dangerous practice but aren't offering any actual evidence as to why. The main thrust seems to be that it's because 5.56 is a far higher pressure round than .223 but when you actually compare specs from the same source and which are derived from the same testing method you see that they are actually the same. So what is it that makes firing 5.56 in a .223 rifle dangerous? Yes, there are slight differnces in the chamber specs but they are really slight. Rifles don't run so close to the point of blowing up that a slight dif
  10. They are different, it doesn't necessarily mean that the difference is going to cause any damage. They have different throats and rifling leeds - big deal. Like I've asked, where are all the blown up guns? Correct, they are different and may cause a problem, if you want to take the chance then you can Not of its self, no. However, we know the history of these things and know damn well that they are basically interchangable. There is very little difference, they both shove a .223/4 bullet down a .223/4 barrel and have pretty much the same powder capacity. Correct, they are different and
  11. Wrong..if it ONLY says .223 on your FAC it is ILLEGAL to sell 5.56. And if they were available, why are they not now, and why does that make them the same in UK law??? I'm afraid it is you that is wrong Decker MY fac says Accuracy International 7.62 x 51 . It also states that for the ammo and guess what when i do buy factory ammo i have no problem buying .308 ammo 5.56 is still avalable but since the two wars on the go not in the quantity it was. If your dealer wants to break the law and you want to put .308 down a 7.62 do I care! Fortunately I had the bra
  12. Guys...I'm sorry, but it just doesn't do it for me, think about it....a world record shot, then a harder world record shot, then another to shoot the machine gun???? I'm good, I know many better than me, and I know what 1200 yard shooting is about, but this is 2707 yards. Ideal conditions or not, he should have done the lottery as well that week! Of course I'm impressed with the work all our lads are doing and I am not for one minute having a go at our forces...but I remain skeptical...something just doesn't smell right, SORRY!
  13. Cheers Snap Shot, I've made a note of that, give me a year or two and I may even understand it, but I wouldn't bet on it!! ATB!! BUT, it does seem you can over stabilize a bullet and it's not the best idea!
  14. So what your saying is that no _other_ source of information is legitimate unless either YOU or YOUR mate is spouting it I wonder why ballistics programs, libraries or even this forum exist, why don't you just write "The Dekers guide to shooting and everything else" The forward could read "Fu*k everything you know or have been told or have read, because it's all wrong, coz me and my mate MrLogic know everything there is to know about everything, coz we is clever like that init" You have a greatly increased sense of self worth. Your full of $h!t you hill dwelling t@. John Wh
  15. I don't think anyone is having a go at the Parker Hale, it is a mod that many have grown up with and set a standard...."an old friend". The SAK seems to have moved in, and no doubt something else will follow, but there is still only so much you can do! The only thing for certain is that some of the £100++++++++ mods are a waste of money if sound reduction is your objective!!
  16. This is news to me, where did you get this information please?? This is excellent if the snipers actions saved life or injury to our allies, but something in me is skeptical. For sure this beats the Canadian, which was astounding, but then to do it straight away again! Perhaps I'm just being cynical!

hi deker mate they do issue to pest control companies mate another thing with licences they are very specific even down to the numder of birds you can shoot as well as that the licence is only valid for a short time atb gary Hi gary, ...... and of course they are site specific I think you misunderstood what I said, yes, they do still issue to Pest Control firms, but they are moving away from it and prefer individual site owners to apply. In one case of a very large national company I am closely involved with, they now refuse to take applications from their Pest Contro
  18. So, Why does it say .223 on the rifle and not .223/5.56??? You do what you like, I am happier to accept this.... http://www.thegunzone.com/556v223.html Extract... SAAMI points out that chambers for military rifles have a different throat configuration than chambers for sporting firearms which, together with the full metal jacket of the military projectile, may account for the higher pressures which result when military ammunition is fired in a sporting chamber. SAAMI recommends that a firearm be fired only with the cartridge for which it is specifically chambered by the manufa
  19. As I said before, the same reason my .308 is stamped '.308' and not 7.62mm because it's a civilian rifle. Not sure why some P-H sporting rifles are stamped 7.62 tho John Oh dear...John, for someone who has his head burried in a book (Computer Programme) most of his life I would have though you could come up with something better than that!! So it's Ok to use .308 in a 7.62 on that basis is it???
  20. Wrong..if it ONLY says .223 on your FAC it is ILLEGAL to sell 5.56. And if they were available, why are they not now, and why does that make them the same in UK law???

There is no Swindon in Wales, and location clearly states Swindon, and milo appears remarkably quiet!! Natural England do not like issuing licenses to end users any more, they will in the right circumstances but they prefer the landowner where the problem is occurring to apply for the license, not the Pest Control firm! In some cases they insist!
  24. It doesn't say it is Open. It will say something along the lines of...... land on which the holder has authority to shoot With NO mention of ......Land approved by the Chief Officer of police I can't remember the detail, someone will get theres out and quote it for you exactly I'm sure!!
