I'm no fan of either, although I am member of the BASC, but I have to admit their attitude over the last couple of years is cause for concern to me. They seem to be losing track of the Grass roots and what they are meant to be doing, my perception is heading along the lines of the NRA, bunch of old farts more concerned about their own jobs and power.

When the media ran the story of two youngsters being chewed by a fox in their bedroom a couple of months back the phone went mad with work,(many of which I refused as people were being silly), bit quieter now, but still lots about!

I'm struggling with the term fasionable, nothing to do with fashion, its just common sense and practicality! If you reload there is little between the two, but .223 has more power! There is more choice/availability of new guns in .223 and more choice/availability of factory ammo in .223. It is .222Rem and .223Rem, and Remington hardly chamber any guns in .222 anymore. .223 is the new .222, life moves on, and unlike fashion it is unlikely that .222 will come round again in a few years as .223 edges it in most departments. .223 is also a military 5.56 equivalent of course, but

its not the case of being ripped off mate. i understand what your saying to do a job on rabbits all the 22lr rifles are about the same. but the annie and sako cost more because they are builter built. like anything you pay for the name also. ther emore refinded they have better triggers from the box. yes you can get a brooks kit buyt the annie one adjusts fully. the bolt is alot smoother also. im not knocking the cz they are superb rifles and well put togeather. they are very accurate. i use to have the style with 16 inch barrel. i sold it as i went on to different rifles. i havent

The rifle don't look that bad John It looks fine, but that too has some weight in it with that barrel, used one, was very accurate but too heavy for me! The TRG is far more of a military looking tool, and heavy as well!! Fine if you like heavier guns, and all plenty accurate enough, just too heavy for me!

Similar... but I simply use washing up liquid after each use, obviously rinse well and leave to dry...to much of a pain usually so I tend to forget the mop generally and just use a kitchen roll on the jag through the barrel...

Getting a FAC airgun has obvious attractions after a 12ft lb gun, but there are pitfalls. You need a FAC for starters, cabinets, and of course they need some charging. The used market is limited, so they don't sell that well, even though new they cost more...they also cost more than a .22lr of course!! They are excellent tools at what they are excellent at, and if you just want a bit more than 12ft lb, with little chance of a .22lr then consider one. Most people seem to run them between 25-30ft lb...(mine is about 26ft lb...but I also have .22lr, .17HMR, .22WMR, and a selection o

A metre target at 500 yards should be straightforward for anyone with the right gun and ammo, if they can't do that then I would have to suggest they either need to practice a lot or shooting just isn't for them! A metre at 1000 yards is a lot harder, but again, anyone with the tools should do that without trouble......but that is still a LOT different to accurately dropping rabbits or deer at long distance!!

Yes mattywhit, but you are on a range, shooting plastic bags full of water at a fixed known range, fine and very good, I would like to try that as well! But please NO LIVE THINGS if you miss, you miss. If you nick the corner so what, but if you carve a chunk out of a fox/rabbit/deer and it runs, you have crossed the line, lets not confuse live quarry with shooting rifles for enjoyment. AndyF. You are right of course in the difference between range and the real world....and this long range fox shooting was only range work in a valley. But we all know some people are better shots than

I must have missed something ...but fox has orange eyes to me, although I have had a couple over the last two years with BLUE eyes, very unusual and new to me...my lad is colour blind and sees things I find strange, who knows what who else sees, but as long as it is consistant does it really matter? Depends on the age of the fox in your lamp. Generally the older the fox the more orange they will appear. Can vary from pale green/watery blue through to orange. Sorry mate but after over 20 years and 1000's seen and shot I must only have ever seen youngsters they ALL look green/white t

I'm struggling with this, if it is so much better and cheaper why have we not heard of it and where is it. I had a HOG on my HMR..... BRIEFLY.... it was an air rifle mod that my RFD assured me would work...well it was quieter for a few shots (about 6 or and then all the acoustic padding got destroyed!!! The SAK offers an unrivaled package of price and sound reduction and durability and an excellent warranty. There are others quieter but only fractionally and they all cost more.......and the Whisper at £125 is heavier and noisier and a complete waste of money! Please tell me
-
The SAK is worth a go on a HMR......NOTHING is great on the HMR, this is about as good as any and one of the cheapest...certainly not worth spending the silly money of some mods for the HMR!!

Brooks has an extra spring and tube, similar money...whatever, this is about the cheapest trigger job it is possible to get and the difference is well worth it!

And Toyota Brakes don't work..... Lets have a look at the situation...................... The Original Wildcat had a problem. This was resolved several years ago! The Wildcat is completely stripable and every part is available as a spare! The Wildcat is probably the best value for money centrefire mod out there. There are other mods that may have the edge on sound reduction, and in some cases are arguably better built, but do not strip for cleaning and all cost more. The ASE range of Mods are all good on sound reduction but some screw up the balance big time and of cour

Clint I hate to be the one to break this to you mate but £2 each or 3 for £5 means you are being seen off Perfectly normal treacle, called a bulk buy discount! Not sold any for a while, but when I was £2 each would have been a pretty good price. We used to get £3.50 a brace cleaned and skinned! Never did discount mate. After I'd skinned and gutted them I wanted the full whack. Don't do it anymore, would rather hedge them than bother my arse to gut and skin for a couple of quid. £1 each cleaned, to my Game Dealer, anything up to £3 each to other sources!

...so you mean with all HMR ammo (the 17g Ballistic tip being a hollow point with a polycarbonate insert)!!

It's one of those moments when the FAC hits the door mat!

What age to start a youngster
Deker replied to BellySlater's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Who can say, I kept my lad away from the tools, but he let go the air rifle about 7 or 8 and his first 12g at age 10. It was his idea and he had wanted to get involved long before I let him. He is now 22, has a co-terminus and is better with a shotgun than me.....and he likes to let me know !! -
Good going I'm pretty sure I have not been past 6 in a night personally, 5 a few times, including a job only about 10 days ago in a domestic suburban back garden when I took out Mum, Dad and all 3 cubs, arrived 21.15 and gone by 22.30. If only all the jobs went that well!

They had an expolosion in the factory and it halted production. Kranks had a shipment recently so ask your dealer they are in stock now. i read that when i done a search, also a guy said they burned rather dirty. did you find this when you used them mate ? col. All powders/bullets have their own characteristics, some are dirtier than others. I notice a little more muck in the moderator with PRVI than some ammo, but mine are all Predator 8's, which get a clean each outing, as does the rifle, so it just isn't an issue. Define dirty?????????, I have known better and
