Suppose you are right, if i don't have it back i can always see what i can pick the rifles up at to help to nock down a local dealer at least. George I was in the same position 3 years ago for the Game Fair, I was really hoping my variatioin would turn up, but it took an eternity.....the Game fair is always worth a look and deals can be done pending the arrival of your FAC. In addition, the Fair does give you an idea how hard you can push on the price anyway!!

Gosh it's the Berkshire trio I guess it's all in the name John I guess that means no TopDown, he appears to have a very big mouth and very small balls! Still waiting for a response to this as well.. To be honest I'm amazed that anyone on n open forum would admit to reloading and supplying ammunition to a friend. Isn't that illegal? John Making suggestions as to legality needs legal backing...ACT and section would be appreciated! Deker I struggle with you John, there are times you appear almost human, but just because you read it in a book or on the web doe

ATB! Thanks im just hoping i will get it back in time for the game fair George I think you will be very lucky if you do, so just assume you will not, and IF it turns up it will be a bonus.

Emotive terms and written as fact. ......Bigger calibre is Better..... for you, so great, but not for all. Legality aside a .22lr is perfectly capable of stopping a Red, everyone needs to find their balance and as I have already said, and many have suggested, there are a lot of views and everyone has the best, but they are different. There will never be an answer everyone agrees on when calibre and Red are debated.
-
In the end i decided to that i will feel i have more peace of mind with a larger caliber so i don't get nervous about being under gunned on the hill. George My point entirely, if that is what works for you it is the best for the job!!
-
Well, that will make a change...is .243 any good for Reds?? Glad we have that sorted, and everyone here is an expert and everyone has the perfect calibre. And yes, .243 is a great Red calibre, but if you don't get on with it and have another calibre that works for you, then that is a great Red calibre as well!

What sub round in a .22 CZ 452
Deker replied to whippeter69's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
No need for bullets with that lump, hit em over the head, ....... Good rifle but I could never live with the weight! -
Okay, for what it's worth I'll try to be constructive in my reply (yes I was going to be sarcastic). When I started out reloading, I did as most still do and that was to read books and try to work out what the best bullet would be for my rifle. IIRC it was a Ruger M77 in .223. I still have my range book here. My first attempt was with 21 grains of H322 and a 55 grain V-max. I had no idea about twist rates or powders, I was just reading and honestly thinking what I was reading was right. I couldn't even come close to the groups others claimed to achieve. So I tried other 55 grain bullets ag

You guys are both cleverer than me when it comes to reloading, although I have a certain level of knowledge of ballistics. Nevertheless "many" Tikka and Sako owners with 1-10 .243 have issues with 100g ammo. Lighter and they go in the same hole How's that work then??

Perhaps you could enlighten us to what having the balls to be different is meant to imply. After Safety, there is only one thing that is important in shooting and that is getting the most appropriate calibre for your requirements, what the f**k has balls got to do with anything? The likes of .223/.243/.308...Common as muck are useful/appropriate/successful/popular because they are easy to come by, versatile relatively inexpensive etc, etc, EVERYTHING else becomes a little more specialized and therefore a little less versatile! That isn't a criticism of any calibre, it is simply a s

I WISH YOU HAD STARTED ANOTHER THREAD.................. SERIOUSLY is important here, and in simple terms for field work the answer is NO, If you fired loads in quick succession down the range and fried your barrel them perhaps yes! And make sure you clean barrel and moderator thoroughly, and regularly!

i hope it is as a 22 cf is more then powerful enough for a roe deer with he right bullet. There was talk of the .22 CF for Roe (and it was actually included) until the final reading of the 2007 Deer Act Amendment(England & Wales). I struggle to see it being included any time soon, where did you hear of this Talk Ric?

Nope, .240! Beat me to it, but as we all know they are as rare as Rocking Horse S**t so .243 is the beastie...but the law says .240!!
-
That may be a bit of an issue for someone apparently in West Wales, but no getting away from the fact the prices look pretty good!!
-
Probably a bit big for £10 or even £20 deals, and a bit small for spuds...
-
You can get a Style for £400 and a synthetic quad for £550, probably less in both cases if you push your luck. Anyway, look at it like this, when did you ever hear of anyone with a CZ saying they were going to chuck it in and upgrade to a Quad!? The choice is obviously yours but one thing I you can be sure of is the quad will be no more accurate than the CZ! ATB!!

Stick with AA Field at 22ft lb, Magnums are excellent but heavy, from about 30ft lb the Magnums really come into their own...but the AA are still good there as well in my Falcon. A lot depends on what your barrel likes as well!!

I assume you are looking at scope mounted......Look to a Deben Mini or Max PRO versions!

What sub round in a .22 CZ 452
Deker replied to whippeter69's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Mine is a Sub Sonic field tool and I find Magtech 40g HP perfectly adequate. I have nearly 3 boxes of Eley Subs left if someone wants to make me a sensible offer, they are no more accurate in my Silhouette than the Magtech and they have less stopping power! You need to find what works in your barrel!!! -
Perhaps you should just clarify that. Whilst .243 MAY be physically capable of taking down a wild boar it is not legally capable of taking down a wild boar, given it does not fall in the min calibre status laid down by the home office. Although I know where your coming from... There is no minimum LEGAL calibre for Boar, the Home Office Guide is a GUIDE!!! ATB!!

Never Never shoot adult Foxes with a .22 LR, its not up to the job FULL STOP. Reason for using .22 on Fox cub is they are called into close range (25 yds) head shot and they are gone...... This causes no distress to the other cubs as there is no loud crack from the rifle, as to all the other comments regarding posting before and after pictures, this was to show the different types of fox control used to dispose of foxes cubs have no fear and will happily pose for a picture and wairt around for you to get the gun sorted ready to shoot, this wont happen with an educated adult fox. i only p

Have I missed something...where have all the scopes gone?
