You guys are both cleverer than me when it comes to reloading, although I have a certain level of knowledge of ballistics. Nevertheless "many" Tikka and Sako owners with 1-10 .243 have issues with 100g ammo. Lighter and they go in the same hole How's that work then??

Perhaps you could enlighten us to what having the balls to be different is meant to imply. After Safety, there is only one thing that is important in shooting and that is getting the most appropriate calibre for your requirements, what the f**k has balls got to do with anything? The likes of .223/.243/.308...Common as muck are useful/appropriate/successful/popular because they are easy to come by, versatile relatively inexpensive etc, etc, EVERYTHING else becomes a little more specialized and therefore a little less versatile! That isn't a criticism of any calibre, it is simply a s

I WISH YOU HAD STARTED ANOTHER THREAD.................. SERIOUSLY is important here, and in simple terms for field work the answer is NO, If you fired loads in quick succession down the range and fried your barrel them perhaps yes! And make sure you clean barrel and moderator thoroughly, and regularly!

i hope it is as a 22 cf is more then powerful enough for a roe deer with he right bullet. There was talk of the .22 CF for Roe (and it was actually included) until the final reading of the 2007 Deer Act Amendment(England & Wales). I struggle to see it being included any time soon, where did you hear of this Talk Ric?

Nope, .240! Beat me to it, but as we all know they are as rare as Rocking Horse S**t so .243 is the beastie...but the law says .240!!

That may be a bit of an issue for someone apparently in West Wales, but no getting away from the fact the prices look pretty good!!

Probably a bit big for £10 or even £20 deals, and a bit small for spuds...

You can get a Style for £400 and a synthetic quad for £550, probably less in both cases if you push your luck. Anyway, look at it like this, when did you ever hear of anyone with a CZ saying they were going to chuck it in and upgrade to a Quad!? The choice is obviously yours but one thing I you can be sure of is the quad will be no more accurate than the CZ! ATB!!

Stick with AA Field at 22ft lb, Magnums are excellent but heavy, from about 30ft lb the Magnums really come into their own...but the AA are still good there as well in my Falcon. A lot depends on what your barrel likes as well!!

I assume you are looking at scope mounted......Look to a Deben Mini or Max PRO versions!

What sub round in a .22 CZ 452
Deker replied to whippeter69's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Mine is a Sub Sonic field tool and I find Magtech 40g HP perfectly adequate. I have nearly 3 boxes of Eley Subs left if someone wants to make me a sensible offer, they are no more accurate in my Silhouette than the Magtech and they have less stopping power! You need to find what works in your barrel!!! -
Perhaps you should just clarify that. Whilst .243 MAY be physically capable of taking down a wild boar it is not legally capable of taking down a wild boar, given it does not fall in the min calibre status laid down by the home office. Although I know where your coming from... There is no minimum LEGAL calibre for Boar, the Home Office Guide is a GUIDE!!! ATB!!

Never Never shoot adult Foxes with a .22 LR, its not up to the job FULL STOP. Reason for using .22 on Fox cub is they are called into close range (25 yds) head shot and they are gone...... This causes no distress to the other cubs as there is no loud crack from the rifle, as to all the other comments regarding posting before and after pictures, this was to show the different types of fox control used to dispose of foxes cubs have no fear and will happily pose for a picture and wairt around for you to get the gun sorted ready to shoot, this wont happen with an educated adult fox. i only p

Have I missed something...where have all the scopes gone?

Sunshades can often be VERY useful when lamping as they can stop a lot of lamp reflected glare from the moderator. Not always required though. They are also very useful at daybreak and dusk when the sun is very low and bright, and always seems to be in your face!! ALL my sunshades live on all my scopes!!

Worst gun safety ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deker replied to LordGamebore's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
So when did you get an invite to the Young Conservative Farmers Ball then?? Great fun aren't they!! Gosh yah!!! Oh Jolly Hockeysticks. More champers Rodders old chap?- Ric PS Deker old chap I didn't see you at Henley last year. Old Cholmondeley Farquar-Fanshawe fell off the bridge and got stuck head down in the mud. Took us ten minutes to get him out. Brain dead of course but nobody could tell the difference. Royal Ascot, Henley and Wimbledon...never miss them!! -
If it works why not!!

You have to accept that neither are brilliant. I rate the JSR and have this very scope, glass is good, not much else is, and the allen key turrets do my head. 10m minimum, good! The Nikko is 15m minimum, not so good for air rifle but turrets are better, I think the build generally will have the edge on the JSR but the glass isn't quite as good. So there you go...6 of one and half a dozen of another

There are a number of options of quality (expensive) furniture cabinets, there are also portable/car options available. Everything has a market but I suspect this will be very limited!

Looks like you are doing a bit of digging, and as always when you do that a lot turns up. CZ bolts are no issue generally on .22lr or HMR, for some reason the WMR can be, don't dwell on it, it isn't a problem. If you change the trigger on a new rifle and it goes wrong, (which is very rare) then just put the old trigger back before you take it for repair!! Triggers CAN be a pain, but fortunately the fix is about £10/£12 there is NOTHING that cheap in shooting that makes such a difference to a rifle. Used, is a sensible option on a .22lr, check what warranty is offered and away

No one on here can answer that one for you, it depends solely on the clauses in the contract agreed between the land management company and the church. I'd "assume" that it would be in the scope of the contract as pest control would very much come under "land management" and that's what they're been paid to do... manage the land. I would further assume if the land management company have you given you permission then the terms of the contract allows them to appoint people to assist in the land management (ie pest controllers), you should be able to check this with the tenant or land management

Thanks guys, I've learnt a bit here! I'm still waiting to hear back about the job, I did the site survey last Saturday which was primarily to do with a fox but the mink issue was also raised by the client. The site is a domestic garden but the entire border at the bottom of the garden is the River Loddon. This is a tidy area down a private road, gardens are really not descriptive, all the property in the area are really estates!! Cheers
