I think I have about 20+ of the one and only box I ever got involved with left, I'm not that impressed, not using them and not rushing out to get any more. I rather think this has been debated historically, perhaps worth a look back through the archives. Before you ask, mine came from the Beretta Gallery in London (GMK), was the only place that had them a few months back!

Markings on CZ .22 American.
Deker replied to wanderinstar's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Put Simply the Americans like things to be American, and this makes them think it is, it's the same with Beretta and no doubt many more, take a look how many Berettas say Beretta USA on them..but made in Italy! -
I use the stuff in 55g SP .223 90g SP .243 150g SP .308 I am fortunate they all perform perfectly well enough in all my rifles for field work, some are not so lucky, a pal with a Rem 700 .308 gets 3-4 inches where as EXACTLY the same batch and box groups 1" in my Rem 700 .308 SPS without a lot of trouble. There is better ammo out there for sure (at a price) but it's still down to what your barrel can deal with, all my rifles like this stuff and I'm happy enough with it! Seems more than a bit short on supply for the last few months though, with delivery dates forever slipping

Would that be a .22LR? In England, Scotland and Wales you have to advise your authority within 7 days of any sale (legal requirement). If you want another rifle you will also need to apply for a variation. No RFD will sell you another firearm anyway without a free slot of your FAC. The situation in N. Ireland/Ireland is a bit different I think! If you are unsure of anything contact your Firearms Dept!

I have to disagree. From a legal point of view it is very specific. If they prosecute you they have to show that you have acquired something for which you do not have an FAC. If you have an FAC which says ".22Rim-Fire" the court will ask only two questions; "Is this a .22?" and; "is this a rimfire?". If you are possessing a .22WMR on a .22RF authority then how could you possibly be convicted of unlawful possession as it's a .22 cal and is a rim-fire? In fact, if it's an offence to possess a .22WMR on a .22RF authority, then surely so would it be to possess a .22LR, or a .22 Short, or a .2

Problem is you will find it does not. Many RFD will be unhappy with .22Rimfire and may well refuse you WMR, others may be ok. It is bad wording and bad form as you have to justify the usage of each gun, there is a lot of difference between a .22lr and a .22WMR! It's just unclear and handled differently by different regions and different RFD. It should not be!

I struggle with this sort of post.....both calibres are excellent but tend to have different uses. A .22lr with subs is approx 100ft lb, a .22WMR with 40g is approx 320ft lb! Noise and costs are also issues...how on earth is anyone meant to answer the question? What do you want to do with it?? I have BOTH..and a HMR, and I have uses for all of them, situations and circumstances.
-
Any calibre can ricochet, and my 17g HMR ammo certainly has!

.22Rimfire is a very unspecific listing and leads to posts like this. Mine, and everyone else I know specifically lists...lr...WMR...NOT Rimfire! This is bad form on the part of the police, but I have gathered through the pages of this site that some people do have a listing of rimfire. Should not happen in my view and is yet another example of the way different regions deal with firearms.

I think John was trying to before the chukkle bro's woke up. The question was answered before you woke up! Not only haven't you got anthing to add to the thread, the rubbish you come out with is innacurate anyway! Have a nice day!

I rather think so!....... I WISH YOU HAD STARTED ANOTHER THREAD.................. SERIOUSLY is important here, and in simple terms for field work the answer is NO, If you fired loads in quick succession down the range and fried your barrel them perhaps yes!

Hey, I believe you will find that it is Dicker who is regurgitating the issue. This thread has come to it's end, with nothing but Berkering. Tally ho. John I take it that means you will be leaving the thread then

Gosh it's the Berkshire trio I guess it's all in the name John I guess that means no TopDown, he appears to have a very big mouth and very small balls! Still waiting for a response to this as well.. To be honest I'm amazed that anyone on n open forum would admit to reloading and supplying ammunition to a friend. Isn't that illegal? John Making suggestions as to legality needs legal backing...ACT and section would be appreciated! Deker I struggle with you John, there are times you appear almost human, but just because you read it in a book or on the web doe

To be honest Dicker, either you're just plain stupid or can not read. I will again, ask the question. To be honest I'm amazed that anyone on n open forum would admit to reloading and supplying ammunition to a friend. Isn't that illegal? Now when you and your small army make it so crap that people can not ask a question on a public forum, this forum will be left to you, Ill-logical and who ever your third member of the clan of Berks is but until that point in time, I and everyone else can and will ask questions. There is an old saying "There is no such thing as a stupid question,

Suppose you are right, if i don't have it back i can always see what i can pick the rifles up at to help to nock down a local dealer at least. George I was in the same position 3 years ago for the Game Fair, I was really hoping my variatioin would turn up, but it took an eternity.....the Game fair is always worth a look and deals can be done pending the arrival of your FAC. In addition, the Fair does give you an idea how hard you can push on the price anyway!!

Emotive terms and written as fact. ......Bigger calibre is Better..... for you, so great, but not for all. Legality aside a .22lr is perfectly capable of stopping a Red, everyone needs to find their balance and as I have already said, and many have suggested, there are a lot of views and everyone has the best, but they are different. There will never be an answer everyone agrees on when calibre and Red are debated.
-
In the end i decided to that i will feel i have more peace of mind with a larger caliber so i don't get nervous about being under gunned on the hill. George My point entirely, if that is what works for you it is the best for the job!!
-
Well, that will make a change...is .243 any good for Reds?? Glad we have that sorted, and everyone here is an expert and everyone has the perfect calibre. And yes, .243 is a great Red calibre, but if you don't get on with it and have another calibre that works for you, then that is a great Red calibre as well!

What sub round in a .22 CZ 452
Deker replied to whippeter69's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
No need for bullets with that lump, hit em over the head, ....... Good rifle but I could never live with the weight! -
Okay, for what it's worth I'll try to be constructive in my reply (yes I was going to be sarcastic). When I started out reloading, I did as most still do and that was to read books and try to work out what the best bullet would be for my rifle. IIRC it was a Ruger M77 in .223. I still have my range book here. My first attempt was with 21 grains of H322 and a 55 grain V-max. I had no idea about twist rates or powders, I was just reading and honestly thinking what I was reading was right. I couldn't even come close to the groups others claimed to achieve. So I tried other 55 grain bullets ag
