  1. Each to their own, I use the .22lr at 200 on the range quite often, and in controlled environments I can get some half decent results, but if its a bit windy its a complete waste of time, groups can easily open up to 30cms or more. In addition retained energy of any .22lr has dropped dramatically at 200 yards making accuracy vital for pest work. I would never take the .22lr if I knew my quarry was 150-200 yards away, personally, that would be on/above the top limits of HMR of WMR for me.
  2. The Pheasant are cocky already, strutting around in a field yesterday, who tells them the season is over??????
  3. Only ever bought 1 box of stingers, fast for sure, but all over the place for me! Velocitors worked pretty well for me, still use them in my pistol!
  4. That looks like a particularly pleasant time. Years since I've had a woodcock, not many round my way, (either that or I've not looked in the right places)! Last one I had was in Marlborough and before that Devon!
  5. New one on me, but it does seem pretty good!
  6. You got me, so there is, obviously not paying proper attention!
  7. It's the start of the new year and the start of Bisley season. If anyone is interested in trying some target work at Bisley, or may be considering joining a Club, drop me a PM. We have incredibly good guest and member deals at the moment and tend to shoot between 100-600 yards with occasional 1000 yard and McQueen's shoot, Club guns available!
  8. I'd forgotten about them, I have a 500 brick in the armoury for my rifle club, and more in my cabinet, to be fair they were/are good, mine must be 20 years old, and as you can tell, don't come out often! Still not quite as good as my best subs, but good just the same!
  9. Enlarging on another thread.................. Have you ever found a .22LR High Velocity round that is more accurate than your best Sub sonic round, and obviously, if so, which? Cheers
  10. Welcome, but not an area you will get much help with here, Bow hunting is a bit tricky in the UK, and even if you did Whitetails are pretty scarce here! Maybe some of our International members can help!
  11. Should we start another, much of it was great!!!!!
  12. Help me out, is this new or have I simply missed it before?? Cheers. Permission to trap crayfish, eels, elvers, salmon and sea trout - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) This bit!!!!! You must not transport or take live crayfish away from the location you caught them. There are 2 exceptions to this: if you have a licence, for example, to keep live crayfish for commercial processing on your premises in England if you have a permit to keep live specimens for research or conservation in England and Wales
  13. Don't you just love it when a plan comes together!
  14. ???? Perhaps the subs are bad, or your barrels simply don't like them!!!! I've had several subs that look like a shotgun pattern, but at the same time, so do many of the HV, PERSONALLY, I have never found a HV .22LR to shoot as tight as a sub! (this could be the start of a whole new topic, Do you have a HV .22lr with better groups than your favourite Sub???) I am getting 100yard groups as tight in my HMR as the OP is at 25 yards with a HV .22LR (and nearly as tight with the WMR at 100 yards). Hence why, for me, if I need the extra clout of a HV .22LR over a sub I will always re
  15. High velocity.22lr ammo Remington yellow jacket 33g HP, and CCI Velocitors worked ok for me historically. My rimfires have been dedicated sub sonic for many years. If I want the extra grunt its my HMR or WMR, both of which are more accurate than .22lr HV for me!
  16. Always a busy time during lambing, I don't deny, I find it fascinating and rewarding, scanning the sheep field at night and removing that fox amongst them! Always a fulfilling and satisfying moment!
  17. Its a fascinating world, and you cannot really describe the feeling of the seasons work, you have to be there....................... (just the same, there are some days I wonder why) ...................and beaters days are always eagerly anticipated!
  18. And that's the bottom line, the animal is certainly a decent size, but perspective helps it gain a few pounds!
  19. A month has gone by so it looks like there isn't going to be a second post....
  20. Go to episode 9 of the podcast.....???????????????????? Not a clue, some basic instruction how that works or a link would be appreciated!!!
  21. Tried that on Saturday, slept through all the snooker on Sat eve and woke up at 00.30 on the settee with a headache!
  22. Great offer, if only I was closer! To be serious for a moment, I've never got on with those Rentokil traps, actually must be 10 years or more since I had any (they are the electric ones I'm thinking), do they even still make them? Some useful stuff there!
  23. the beater hasn't been on the site since 2014, perhaps a new thread would have been better, but you are rapidly running out of season anyway!
