  1. ....and then the work started....that's a funny looking Roe on the right, guess he woke up and identified as a Hare that day!!!
  2. £3 a rabbit is unheard of round here!!! As for Hare, Berkshire is virtually devoid, there are some close to borders with other counties but for some reason Berkshire just doesn't have any Hare to speak of, and hasn't for as long as I can remember! If I ever see one I get all excited!
  3. I believe I am correct in saying that for some years CCI has made virtually all the HMR ammo and just branded it as required. In the early days there were several other manufacturers, but they have faded away and left CCI to do the job for them. One exception, (and there may possibly be more) is Winchester, they make their own but have historically suffered from the same issues as the rest. In simple terms, take nothing for granted with any HMR ammo and be vigilant!
  4. Perhaps you need to tell the Government how to solve the problems, as they obviously have no idea at the moment!
  5. Ha Ha...they are all at the schools/factories/offices/etc I have to deal with. Have regular shoots/culls at a number of sites, (a lot of them schools) as well as netting and spike work. Been at 3 schools last week on the Pigeon as it was half term!! It will never stop, so the work/money rolls on!!!
  6. Gassing is a nightmare these days, and expensive! But without doubt effective in my experience!!!!! Controls on the stuff are daft to the point it is very difficult to use. Then there is the details of specific location, weather/damp conditions, potential public access and of course the PPE and licence you need. For all but the hardened few, and very limited locations, try other methods!
  7. Looking at some other post he has made I think you are right!
  8. It is the age we live in. People just get their cameras out at accidents these days rather than helping!
  9. Which they always are, when did you last hear of an industry pay award that Joe public didn't end up paying for! This is all part of the Inflation spiral which the Government is trying to stop by holding down pay rises!!! Inflation takes on a life of its own and is a nightmare to stop! Someone always suffers!
  10. It was allegedly developed for a Semi auto, I have no idea what they have done with it or what makes it suitable for a semi, except it doesn't split apparently!
  11. Problem with that is if we didn't use cheap foreign labour then inflation would have been higher and people even less able to cope!! Don't take this wrong, I am NOT in favour of wholesale foreign labour, we need to sort out or borders, and sort out our economy!!!!
  12. Anyone got or used this, I've never seen it, but been around a while now, and allegedly solves all the historical HMR ammo issues??????????????????? Buy A17 for USD 81.99 | CCI (cci-ammunition.com)
  13. Can I just open this out a bit. Apparently HMR ammo manufacture has improved (to the extent semi auto HMR rifles have been reintroduced in some parts of the world) Is anyone using new ammo that is split free at the moment, if so, how vigilant are you at checking it, and what brand/type is it please? Cheers
  14. Just a thought, the timer is set right on the camera!?!? My (cheap) trail cameras are useless time wise, have to reset them a lot!!
  15. Isn't it always the way!!! Just what I get from all the domestics ..... "well, it was regular as clockwork until you arrived!!!"
  16. Don't start on the cats, it is a forbidden subject and will get the thread locked!! But, the pair living next to me bring home at least 1 bird a day between them...just saying!!!
  17. Has Skegness been mentioned in this thread, I see its all kicking off there as well?!
  18. That's good then, some are a wider range! Odds are pretty strong though you will get better results with a rimfire mod on there rather than the CF one!
  19. The split cases have been going on from day one. Apparently, something has been done to improve things over the last few years, no idea what!
  20. I want to avoid damage and having to re Gelcoat at all costs!!!
  21. I've got down to 1200 wet and dry, but I'm trying not to do any damage to the Gelcoat. Its bound to need a bit of cutting after the lettering has gone, as no doubt the lettering will still show with gelcoat fading, but I really don't want to Repair the gelcoat with anything!
  22. Oh dear, that is an unfortune mix to say the least!!!!
  23. To be honest its worth a try, but hole size really needs to be as close to the specific calibre as possible (for best results), and baffles on centrefire Mods are built/balanced to work with higher velocity projectiles. So, although the likes of a centrefire mod should be of some help, you may actually find you get better results with a HMR/.22LR specific Mod! I would completely discount anything close to an AIR Rifle mod on a .22LR either Sub or HV.
  24. A moderator will always reduce the propellant crack, the better the mod is suited to the appropriate ammo, the better it will improve the moderation of the propellant crack, but regardless, with HV there will be a limit on the moderation of the propellant crack. In either case it will have no effect on the Sonic crack! You will be better moving from an Air Rifle type mod to a LR Mod regardless, if you want to use HV ammo, the SAK does this fine (there are others), and I use it for .22LR Subs and WMR, no problems with either, except its life may be slightly reduced with HV. The nature o
