Looking for rimmie, Magtech any good?
Deker replied to The Duncan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
As there have only been three of us reply, one being yourself then you must be referring to either Jonno or me. No wondering on our part, the OP asked "Are Magtech semi-auto's any good? or should I get an older 'quality' rifle?" and the rifles are not any good, plain and simple. The OP has no interest if YOU have plenty of guns or not. John Ha ha, it had to be you didn't it, fair comment, somehow I missed this bit..... or should I get an older 'quality' rifle?... that does somewhat change the complexion of the question/my responses! -
Looking for rimmie, Magtech any good?
Deker replied to The Duncan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think some of you guys are wondering a bit, I have plenty of guns including a .22lr which does all I want accuracy wise, the Magtech 7022 is a trip into the semi world for me and will be a field and fun tool. At £140 BRAND NEW, just how much are you likely to lose, and very worth while using it with the supplied open sights, it's also threaded, so, if you must, just screw on a SAK. Cheap as chips, and they are reliable according to one club I know who uses them! Trigger is s***, I have played with them, and there is little or nothing you can do with it, but it works! Semis are not des -
Some just see it as shooting and vermin control, they just leave them were they drop...Its a waste to me. Only had 1 with mixy from the full lot. thought it might of hit them harder. Ha Ha, some do, and visit their sites more often and keep them under control, I don't have anywhere I can take that many in a night because the land is managed properly! :D :whistling: ATB! Where is the Smiley with the Tin Hat this is a dairy farm on a massive sporting estate thats heavily keepered, they don't have time for rabbiting most of the time and the access

The magazine should fit, not sure what tinkering he did but the WMR and HMR mags are identical for the 452, so they should be easy to find!

Looking for rimmie, Magtech any good?
Deker replied to The Duncan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well...yes and no.... I don't have a semi but my FAC is up for renewal and I am taking the opportunity to add a couple of slots. I have looked at the Magtech over a long period and keep going back to it, the trigger is absolute s***, but the gun is accurate, seems to like most ammo, comes threaded and is cheap as chips as they say... worth a go, I think so! -
Boresnakes and barrel wear - a technical hypothesis

What is possibly more important than any damage a Bore Snake can cause if not used appropriately, it doesn't clean your barrel efficiently! -

Whatever, get a Dimmer, and for HMR use I would suggest the Deben Max Pro, it will provide a complete package at a cheaper price than the Lightforce and provide shooting light out to around 400 yards, far more than you will ever need on the HMR...of yes, and its more reliable than the Lightforce . The lightforce 170 has a better light for sure, but that is because it has a bigger reflector and a more powerful lamp, but do you need it, remember that means it also eats batteries quicker! ATB!

You will have to go a long way to beat a Predator 8 COMPACT to cover all your criteria! I make no suggestion it is the BEST moderator, whatever that may mean, but it offers a good package of moderation, size, weight, price and is Fully stripable! It does for me and I have one on all my centrefires, .223, .243,. 308

Flippen 'ek I have been preaching the cleaning route forever, and so many have knocked the idea, it works, it keeps the rifle true and sweet and it DOESN'T wear out the barrel if you do it properly, brush, solvents and patches, and keep the crown clean too! Accurate from the first shot if you do it right!

Re-pair Parker-Hale cleaning rods ????
Deker replied to wambamboo's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Some take the sleeving off anyway. Not by favourite plan as most of the plastic coated rods are steel. Devey rods tend to be painted. Rods are sometimes brass coated, or wood of course, etc! Heat shrink sounds a fair idea just the same! -
Is this still available, what reticle and where are you? Cheers Edit Tube size?

This is about the best I have done at 100 yards, but I would certainly expect within 1" anytime! Edit Yeh, it's 4 shots, I seem to remember I bottled out of the 5th when I saw the group!

It happens as Martin said, sometimes they just don't care, probably many different reasons why, one of course is that they can get very used to normal traffic headlights!

Help out an old boy please, what have I missed, how do I get automatic notification of replies to topics? Thanks

Ok, I'm after one of these, preferably the 30mm tube, 50mm Objective, Target Turrets, Sidewheel Parallax. MUST be MilDot. What have you got close in spec and what money do you want. Cheers Deker

There are NO hard and fast rules, but think on, wildlife are like us, on the whole, if they can avoid going out in the cold and wet they do! They don't have hot baths, washing machines and tumble dryers when they get home! Watch the football and have a can. I should be in Hereford after the Boar tonight, but a local weather farecast has put things back to Monday (I hope)!

Any individual can say what they like, and the law of averages suggest some work and some people are happy. The law of averages is NOT a way to base a buying decision on something as important as a Shotgun. Hatsan have the worst reliability and safety record of ANY shotgun currently available! Don't believe a word word I say, look at the history here, or any website you care to look at and compare Hatsan problems with ANY other shotgun! The Barrel let go on the one I bought for my lad with me standing next to it, there are those that suggest I have an axe to grind with Hatsan,
