  1. I have to agree with most replies so far, trying to float most 700 "Plastic" stocks is simply a waste of time. Mine is fine as supplied on my .308 700SPS Stainless and gets me 1" even with PRVI, but if I wanted better I would most certainly have to throw it away and consider another stock.
  2. Try reading my post again, it was an either or, so you need to put yourself up for the Olympics. Your previous post shows considerable innexperience. And what did the nice policeman say when you told him you wanted a 16ft lb Air rifle so you could shoot bunnies every week at Plus yards?
  3. Just step into my office a minute, we need to have a chat....... Most people have their .22lr zeroed at 50-60 yards, it isn't a matter of what is POSSIBLE, it is a matter of consistent clean kills. If you suggest you are taking rabbits at yards plus regularly with 16ft lb, then you are either lying or you need to consider the Olympics. My .22 FAC Air runs at 26ft lb, in the early days I zeroed it to 50 yards, it would consistently put 10p size groups in a target at that distance but the arc was not sensible, it soon became evident that 40 yards was a much better field distance. A
  4. Heres a few, for bunny bashing you don't need a 2 ton lump, Silhouette is their best seller I understand! http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/80-rimfire-rifles-cz/
  5. Help me understand this, it's a HMR, so anything that works out to 150 yards will be fine. What is all this BULL I keep hearing about needing quality glass for night work, you simply need a half decent lamping kit! what can i say you must know better than every body else...all i can say to you is when i started shooting nearly 40 years ago now...and yes i have not managed to gain any experience apart from one thing i found...i found that with a 100 quid scope i could see loads during the day...when it came to going out when the big light in the sky went down i found even with
  6. Hi, Go for the HW60J by far the better of the two !! I have the hw60j for sometime now and over 6500 rounds and NO problems to date. is the best rim i have used, and i used alot for rimfire's. No problems getting parts BUT YOU WILL NOT NEED ANY !! Good luck in what you go for ... I'm curious about that statement, as with others saying this is better or that is better. On just what basis is any gun better than another, your Anschutz, HW, Sako will NOT be any more accurate in the field than a CZ, and I don't see it lasting any longer, there are loads of old BRNO about
  7. Put the shot in the right place and it is fine to eat still with a .223. If you are the vermin control business at distance this can happen, a couple of years back now and about 180 yards I seem to recall, .223 Ballistic tip V Bunny!
  8. What does difference in quality equate to in the field? Many people keep their CZ a lifetime!
  9. Brand new, factory sealed, surplus to requirement and unused... ( ) .22WMR ammo...Total of 500 rounds, £100 all in, what a deal. PM if interested. Cheers
  10. It's Marketing Bullshit! Thousands of people have cut down their 452 and are VERY happy, how many have you ever heard of who cut their 452 and have ruined it? I remain unconvinced of this barrel choke situation on the 452, I have personally had several cut and I would not have any issue having my next cut! Let me be clear here, the 452 is NOT a top target tool, it is a Field tool and works exceptionally well in this capacity, I have only ever found cutting improves the usability and I have never seen any loss of accuracy..or I would not keep doing it!
  11. My region sends out an accompanying letter with the FAC/SGC which in simplicity says, CHECK IT, and if anything is wrong or doesn't make sense send it back, or it is YOUR fault! Good cop out, and they cock up all the time, they kindly issued me an AUTOMATIC shotgun!
  12. The stupidity of this legislation is that you can use the occupiers firearm, even a big calibre centrefire, but NOT your own .22lr! I had this crazy situation with my lad when he got his FAC, he had been out with me and others many a time, and had lots of experience with serious tools, but his conditions did not allow him to use his own .22lr on any of my land that was not cleared, (My FAC is Open). After explaining and debating this daft situation with his region we received written consent that he could! Job done!
  13. I think the BPCA may have other ideas, especially as the BPCA now incorporates the RSPH in their qualification.
  14. You may be correct, but, please advise where you can buy a PROOFED mod off ticket. To get proof a mod has been fitted to a FAC tool, it therefore technically becomes a FAC tool and can only be sold on ticket. That is my understanding. Please tell me where that is wrong. Cheers Mods can be supplied proofed from brand new, proofed at the factory and then sold unused and new. I got mine on e-bay (wildcat P8 £50 with the insert brand new) Came from a wholesale dealer who was not an RFD. My local RFD put it on my ticket for me. So they are available. ATB Ok, you m
  15. That isn't really the issue or debate, they are Proofed by putting them on a FAC tool and firing them, that then turns the Mod into a FAC tool! Even if they are sample batch tested that would still make them FAC. So, the question is, can you buy a proofed mod off ticket, as far as I'm aware the answer is no!

  18. You can go and buy a moderator if it is not proofed. Once proofed it is a FAC tool and you need an appropriately worded FAC to buy it. The moment you screw your NON FAC moderator onto your FAC rifle it becomes FAC in its own right, and you must have the slot/advise your region you have a moderator (no proof mark is required here, it's still FAC)!
  19. I always take the simple route, if it has .223 stamped on the gun then use .223, if it has 5.56 stamped on the gun use 5.56. That seems pretty easy to me. I have yet to see ANY gun with 5.56 or .223 stamped on it.
  20. ALL Tikka .223 are standard 1-12 in the UK again now. They were up to about 5 years ago, then they all changed to 1-8 for a couple of years and then went back to 1-12. If yours is NEW, and from new stock it will be 1-12, if it is new, but has been on the shelf for a few years (not that uncommon) it may be 1-8. Tikka .223 is only available special order in 1-8 now I understand!
  21. It should be listed seperately, a Mod on a Firearm is a Firearm in it's own right and gets it's own entry. You can swap a 1 for 1 Moderator, for a rifle, on a free variation. If it were listed as part of a rifle you are stuck, but I do understand the odd FAC tool may well have a FIXED moderator, so may just be listed in the way you mention!
  22. Every barrel and type of ammunition is different, so you would need to TRY! My 40g .22lr subs zeroed at 60 yards, drop around 4" by 100yards!
  23. Seems I am back to this a bit late, but if you have to shim your scope or run out of adjustment play at .22lr distances you seriously need to throw away the scope and start again! You are spot on chickenman. Set the scope turrets to their centre position and use thin plastic shims to get close. Some scopes just don't have enough adjustment in their turrets and you can never be too sure how things will line up. A scope adjusted so that its "springs" are near centre works better. The Nikon Monarch series are pretty good scopes but you run out of clicks really quickly if it is not setup p
