  1. Scopes and reticles get very personal. This is a very "OK" scope, nothing special, and usually they work, the mag is too high for me, I use 6x out to 200 yards commonly, sometimes further. It's not a scope I would consider on a HMR but we are all different.
  2. I'm not necessarily following that one. Rifles clubs have their own laws, especially Home Office Approved clubs, there is a whole different raft of legislation that applies to them, potentially making the use and transport of FAC tools legal for even NON FAC holders!
  3. I don't get it, never have, someone tell me what I have missed!? Who wants to sit in a metal frame all day shooting? What use is it in the field or in competition (where you wouldn't be able to use it anyway)! Just don't see the point, what do you use it for?? :hmm: Cheers
  4. I agree with your explanation Matt, unfortunately it is not written in any case law on the subject as there has been no test case. The original estate condition as you mention above does specifically state that they have to be a servant of the landowner or the landowner and under their direct supervision. The guidance on the interpretation is that S.27 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act is used as the definition of "servant" which includes anyone with shooting rights over that piece of ground. However, that is only guidance and for instance my force will not use that definition no
  5. Sidelock Any help and info is useful, but the Hatsan used to specifically say on the Box, and instructions DON'T use 65mm carts. The cart length issue is also easy to see in action. Loads are always under scrutiny for semis, and light/low recoil loads can cause issues for many semis, the Hatsan just has this and other problems as well. There are of course other issues with the Hatsan by way of design, quality control, materials, etc!
  6. Can't help thinking that is likely to end in tears!
  7. A sub sonic .22lr has the power to stop a fox at 100 + yards no problem. The simple fact is to keep this humane you need to know the rifle/ammo/ballistics very well and be able to deliver the shot precisely to do that. 100 is not normally a distance to consider for fox, if you need that range, or further, then you need to consider a different tool. :hmm: Foxdropper, I think you misread or I didn't make it clear enough, the .22lr sub has the power to stop a fox at 100 yards easily but few can do it, that was the point I was making, and also making it clear that if you wa
  8. http://www.workwearl.../Sako+Moderator http://www.jacksonri...com/sak22lr.htm :victory:  Is that the best you can come up with Ken,an advert of a second hand 'SAK' called a Sako by the person that is selling it because he doesn't know what he has................ Now we have found another reason you only have 4 bunnies in the picture...... When did you last go to Specsavers
  9. Nobody is suggesting you should use a centrefire on rabbits, read back a few posts to pick up the thread!

  11. Not on a day like today it wont.. next to useless calibre in my opinion it completely lacks versatility and just became something 'trendy' to have, most people i know either dumped them or never bothered in the first place :hmm: :hmm: Just what versatility are you after, it does what it says VERY well, if your mates don't need what it does then they bought the wrong gun, I struggle to see anything trendy about it, it is a functional tool!

What kind off money would second hand or new cz be ?? cheers Ollie Chap, I could shoot a bunny with a .308 (as could many
  13. So...an A bolt, a Simmons 3.5-10x50 WTC, is that a Sako Mod and a Deben Max, and just 4 bunnies, well everything else seems ok so perhaps cleaning the rifle will improve the bag!!   ATB! It is a 'Sak' mod,Sako don't make mods. They were the only pics I could find as I don't normally take pics of bunnies.Plus those in glass houses and all that 'Ken'.....lol :hmm: Steady on, Sako do/did make mods, this is one on the end of my WMR, and if that is a SAK I'll eat that fox!  ATB!
  14. been there done that twice a cz452 american 8 years ago and an arni 1517 thumbhole the other year sold both and went back to the 22lr exotic calibres come and go the good ones stay the course Not sure I'd call a HMR an exotic calibre? And a .22lr and a HMR are very different animals in my book! ATB!

  16. Maybe things changed and I missed it but............ I believe you will find in England and Wales it MUST be AAA. In Scotland it is AAA or Larger! Ignoring the Humane dispatch element here!
  17. The 511 is very possibly the BEST out of the box Semi you can buy, even though it looks like it was designed after the Christmas Party at the RNIB!
  18. jamie Pleased with the debate and your input, it would be good if someone else could join in and put a case for these as well, but others seem a little quiet, this is genuinely a learning curve for me and I'm really trying to get as much as I can on these little centrefires...AND COST! Just how much is the ammo, factory and reloads? HMR 245ft lb and 2550ft sec good for longer bunnies that the .22lr can't handle and close(ish) fox. (I'm happy to take fox out to about 100 yards with the HMR) WMR 320ft lb 1850 ft sec hits fox and geese like a train (30g Ballistic tips abou

  20. Funny one this, and it crops up lots. I had one of the very early Anschutz in the UK back in the 70's, for target work, f**k me it was a breath of fresh air over the old Martini everyone used at the time, and didn't everyone love it. BUT BUT BUT>>>>>>>>The reality is for field work there is next to NOTHING in all of them, they all shoot more than accurately enough and they are all more than reliable enough, just what more do you want? Ok some get excited about wood, some are happy to pay an extra £100-£150 for a rifle because the trigger is good (£15 pays fo
  21. Start with a CZ, because it does everything you will want for field work. If you don't like it, then what don't you like that something else does better? Buy that then, whatever it is let us all know, and why!
  22. Life has changed a lot here since the 2007 Deer Act Amendment, but in principle you MUST use AAA. This could get very deep and very complicated, and lets not go the Humane Dispatch route too far, but there are times a shotgun is the tool of choice, there are a lot more times when the appropriate rifle is better suited.
  23. Cheers for this, and I make the point again I ask out of curiosity, I'm not having a go at the 17, just trying to understand. You are certainly limited on .243 ammo choice at 4000 ft sec, but it can be done, I have used it, excellent and of course frangible! Much 17 doesn't make it that fast anyway as attested in previous posts here. How much for 17 ammo? MORE than .243 commonly if you can find it I understand. Help me out with this reloading question as well from a couple of posts back, which someone hasn't responded to, is this me going mad or is someone GENUINELY suggesting t
