Had mine about 2 years, it hasn't seen that much use but in the right environment I think they are great. Needs care on setup and obviously location, anchorage as always has to be spot on and the snare is showing signs of wear (but available as a spare, or make your own) .

Car mechanics, tiling, furniture assembly, plumbing, pest control, gardening...the list goes on and on, lots of people dabble to a level and know when to stop and get help, many people are very capable of DIY in all manner of areas. But to be fair there are very few RICH pest controllers, this is not an industry known for high pricing. How much does your plumber cost? http://www.pimlicoplumbers.com/services/plumbing

New Aluminium Phosphide Exam; Will Anyone Bother?
Deker replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
earth-thrower So you and a few others don't like it, it doesn't work for you, is expensive and has no place, I have no business using it, I don't know what I am talking about and should withdraw it as an option! I am more than fed up banging my head against a brick wall here. Which part have you failed to understand? You appear to have a completely closed mind and refuse to acknowledge any of my comments or accept anything but traditional mole catching methods, if you want to continue with traditional methods where have I ever told you not too, kindly do not suggest you -
Seconded No time limit exists in law. As above!

Protection / Lubrication / Cleaner / Oil
Deker replied to Ideation's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Loads of cleaners/oils on the market, everyone will have their favourite/preferred options, Legia is useful for a quick once over, but I have a cupboard full of the usual, and many I have tried and not been a fan of! -
Certainly worth a try, and probably the best option, but note the word GUIDE!! No it is not, but if the police have reason they can decide pretty much whatever they like, it is a complete pain in the arse for most, but they are simply arse covering themselves, mentoring for centrefires has been quite common for many years, but is wondering into the realms of rimfire as well, I did my first mentoring for a HMR owner circa 5 years ago, and he already had a 80ft lb Daystate on FAC and a long standing SGC! Either ask the question yourself of the Firearms Dept or talk to your shooti

 Anyone involved in the pest control side will wear gloves in anything remotely approaching a risk situation, cuts or not. If they have any sense they will also carry hand sanitiser/wipes for use afterwards as well! I don't personally know of anyone who has contacted the disease but it is a very real threat and to be taken seriously. Barrattine used to offer free credit card size medical carry cards, not sure if they still do!

You can put poison and traps wherever you like, plenty of species specific tamper proof bait boxes available and boxes to insert traps in. Get to a decent Country store, even DIY/Hardware/Tack store, or take a look on the web!

New Aluminium Phosphide Exam; Will Anyone Bother?
Deker replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
May I once again refer you to my first post on this matter, (#20) and may I one again ask which part of that you find confusing, I am not and never have entered into any debate as to which is best, both have a place, I simply refuse to write off Gas treatments out of hand as you appear to. The point you seem to be repeatedly missing is that I retain an open mind and survey each job, then move forward in the most appropriate way, you are suggesting there is no other way! You are wrong. I have NEVER said gas is better than other methods, read my first/other posts again. It is simply -
How on earth would you define best? The fact is there isn't one, there is only the best for you! The difference in accuracy, reliability, repeatability between them all isn't worth the debate. Money wise there can be substantial differences. CZ offer a wide selection of rifles, at reasonable prices (within the market place) nobody will ever NEED more than a CZ can deliver for field use, some simply want something else! So, in short, get what you want!

New Aluminium Phosphide Exam; Will Anyone Bother?
Deker replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Do you do this for fun, are you suggesting you charge less than the cost of a flask of Phostoxin or Talunex per site visit? I run a business, not a charity. I don't give a hoot if you agree or not, I am simply amazed at the narrow minded view here, this is another option, it works and it is cost effective on the right site. I look at each job and access the best overall way forward, I do not write off any possible treatment out of hand, if that means using Phostoxin so be it. If you don't want to use it then don't, have I ever told you to? I'm not sure what your agenda is here but -

You are of course very welcome to your opinion and your experiences, as I said, it is another tool and can be effective in cost and usage over more traditional methods. Whilst it remains available it will continue to be an option if best suited for any site I find. Legislation is making that harder to justify, and so is the weather at the moment! Even the need to use a whole flask on a manicured garden lawn is a cheaper option than a second site visit, and using that much will work! You and anyone else can use what you like, that doesn't mean it hasn't got a place. -

But on the right site, in the right conditions it is a one time, go home and forget it treatment and as such it can be cost effective! ...and I'm sure with a little more thought they could have made one applicator to deal with both, (but that's business I guess) I only use Phostoxin, it does what I want when I need it. Genuinely, no disrespect , but youve just revealed all i need to know..........(and i apologise for my last post !) I rest my case.............. Hold on ...........you dont happen to be an MD ,of a commercial pest control co, are you ? ( Im sorry mate -

Hold on ...........you dont happen to be an MD ,of a commercial pest control co, are you ? ( Im sorry mate ,im just being an arse now ! ) lol Where is this going? I am more than bored, no I'm not the MD, I'm the owner, and whilst I can do almost everything very well there are areas I have staff better than me! -
New Aluminium Phosphide Exam; Will Anyone Bother?
Deker replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
No disrespect to you, but anyone who glibly writes off the gas as useless and not cost effective against traditional methods has a lot to learn and a big gap in their pest control knowledge! I rest my case! -

 A lot of people with all experience levels (or none) read these pages! I am not well up on the traps, I am better with the gas than I am with the traps, I have a very good mole trap man and mole trapping is without doubt an area I am personally weak in. I did the course about 2.5 years ago, whilst everyone was paranoid about the Ali in the run up to the Olympics, I have had little cause to use the stuff either before or since . But on the right site, in the right conditions it is a one time, go home and forget it treatment and as such it can be cost effective! ...an -
I'm dubious about these DIY fixes. You never know how its going to affect the mod itself as well. Stick to proven methods is my advise. It is a well known and effective method of cleaning diamond rings etc., etc, never tried it on a moderator!

 One of those jobs you either do fairly regularly or you will struggle with, obviously depends what type and how much ammo you use as well.

New Aluminium Phosphide Exam; Will Anyone Bother?
Deker replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
By ' doing it right ' whats your approach ? emptying half a flask of phostoxin, per mole.Or maybe a full flask ! If i tell a farmer,i can do his moles with either gas or traps,no prizes for guessing, what methods going to work out better ,price wise ,for him....... Oh dear, which part of my post did you find confusing? -
Actually, it goes through my mind the 3.5-10-50 WTC is back in production in the Philippines. Let me be clear here, I do not know if this is the original spec or the copy Chinese WTC, and now they simply make it in Philippines. This has cropped up before, but I can supply NEW Philippines WTC 3.5-10x50 for around £150-155. Only problem is I need a minimum of 10 orders to get this deal from the supplier! Talk amongst yourselves!

New Aluminium Phosphide Exam; Will Anyone Bother?
Deker replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
It can be cost effective and efficient if you do it right, but it isn't a replacement for more traditional methods (which are commonly not cost effective or efficient if you don't know what you are doing either!) Control/transport/storage/use of Phostoxin/Talunex can also be a big issue. It is just another tool in the pest control box, which I don't expect is getting much use at the moment with most of the country flooded! -
I can't remember the WTC 3.5-10x50 ever being £250, perhaps I just missed it, they were £200-£210 for years from what I recall. Very good scope just the same! Anyway, I have a 5-15 Legend on my .22lr Semi, I'm happy enough with that. A couple of years back I invested in a 6-24x50 Elite Mil dot and was not impressed at all, perhaps I got a bad one but the optics were nothing impressive and I was around 3feet (about 1m) short on elevation for my .243 at 600 yards. It went back for a refund!

Yes, but why not just call your region and ask/tell them anyway!
