  1. There should be more ammo options as its been on the market longer. If the hmr had been on the market as long as the wmr it would probably have the same or more im guessing The calibre lends it self to more versatility of ammo than a HMR!
  2. Odd really, CCI actually makes a wider variety of WMR ammo than HMR ammo!
  3. Why do you keep and love your WMR then if ......there's noting a WMR can do that a HMR cant do and vice a versa.... and the HMR is a clear winner and a lot easier to shoot? Whatever, at least your judgement and views are based on your experiences with them, when some appear to know more than regular shooters of the calibres because they read something!
  4. You have to remember that neither Deker or Charlie like the HMR. That's fine we all have our preferences. BS I personally prefer it over .22. The .22 has it's place and it's stood the test of time, but it's far more prone to ricochet and personally I'd take the extra power of the HMR and the shock over the silence and poor expansion of .22 any day unless shooting close to houses at night. You would be better to stop reading and try shooting, do you ever intend to get a FAC or simply continue to BS the world with what you heard or read somewhere! BTW Deker there are plenty of peopl
  5. Up to 100 yards true. However, open it up to 150 or 200 yards and HMR is a clear winner. That said, it's horses for courses and clearly for Canada, the extra bullet weight has some clout from your experience. Now if you really want a Rimfire performer and aren't worried about the carcass or are prepared to headshoot, then WSM looks like the way to go. Unfortunately in the UK you can't buy it yet. In the real world nobody in their right minds buys a HMR or a WMR if they intend to shoot all their quarry at 150-200 yards.
  6. I'm not following you, so why does anyone use a .22lr when a HMR or a WMR is better, and why use a HMR or WMR when a Hornet is better than either...because they are different, figures on paper don't make for better calibres, they make for different ones, with differently suited applications, on your basis nothing would exist except a cannon, because it has better figures on paper than any rifle!
  7. Get their money up front if you do! You may well find lots jump on the bandwagon and tell you what a good idea it is, but they tend to evaporate after your pallet of carts turn up which they need to buy 1000 of to save a couple of ££.
  8. Have you got/had any other rifles? Prone is good, as much support as possible, (ie firm base), as still a day as possible, get comfortable, best not to use too High a scope magnification usually, and stop if you get tired, even if the job isn't done.
  9. Ok, forums are about discussion/debate, but I have to question your ".17 HMR is a far better round than the .22 WMR". The HMR has its uses and the WMR has its uses, they are different. From my point of view I have never seen my WMR as a rabbit tool, the HMR seems to suit that better for me, but the WMR has its uses, and whereas my last WMR really rated the 40g CCI my latest loves the 30g Hornady V-Max. Arc and accuracy with the 30g WMR V-Max are VERY close to that of the HMR 17g V-Max but they are devastating upon arrival. Smack a HMR V-Max into a Canada and you need to take a bit of
  10. Plastic (Silhouette) stock is a different fitting to the wooden (American etc) stock, so my best guess is, if you have a wooden stock HMR a Wooden WMR Boyds would fit, but only my best guess. I can see the difference in my plastic and wooden stocks and it is simply a few different parts form Edgar Bros to make them fit from what I can see, but a few £££ as well I'll bet!

The problem is simple...dear Tax payer, would you care to pay increased taxes to cover the cost of Flood defences for events that happen every 100 years and effect 10,000 of the population... answer **** off! Then when the rains and floods come everyone complains! I am not defending anyone here, but there is only so much money and at the end of the day it is ours!
  12. This question has cropped up more than once, I have had contact with these over the years and frankly remain bemused. They are not an accurate target tool and whilst they may be adequate for some field work I would not want to walk around with one...and you commonly pay a premium for trying to look like Rambo. So, performance wise, they lack in many areas, for the grin factor and using up lots of ammo, why not. Each to their own, but I still don't get them, no practical use to me! ATB!
  13. What rifle? My CZ American WMR and Silhouette HMR (BOTH 452) are fundamentally the same but fitting kit/parts to hold the metalwork to the stock are different, I think they could be made to fit each other with a few more parts from Edgar Bros, but they are certainly not immediately interchangeable. So I guess the answer to your question depends on make and model!
  14. Would like to see them put that in writing and submit it to court, wouldn't stand a chance. They are flexing muscles they don't have, hoping to intimidate shooters into complying.
  15. Reticle, field of view, magnification, eye relief, tube size, Objective size, light gathering, dialling in, etc etc all make up a scope, there are lots with fairly specific uses in mind but most can be used for a multitude of uses on a variety of guns. In simple terms, its personal, if it works for you then that's all that matters!
  16. Who are "they"? And by what basis will they only let you have a Deer calibre with a DSC1? +1
  17. Not quite correct but the .22 cartridges below it are mostly obscure ie percussion caps, shorts etc, although subs are commonly used and whilst .22LR in name, do sit below regular (supersonic) .22LR in performance. It is correct to say .22LR and .22 WMR are the two commonly used .22 rimfire rounds, and that .22 WMR and .22 Magnum (abbreviated) are the same round. I guess that's why he said basically.
  18. The condition Any Other Lawful Quarry does not have exclusions in my experience, that is why it is Any Other Lawful Quarry. If they want to give you exclusions or specific quarry, they list them, they don't give you AOLQ and a load of exclusions!.
  19. The only time the inside just falls out is the day you buy it. Depends how bad it is, sometimes a bit of pressure can remove it (be careful), other times a soak pays dividends, people will suggest various solvents/oils, but you may find some hot soapy (washing up liquid) water does the job.
  20. The Howa is a good gun, so is the Remington, CZ, Tikka, Sako, Etc, etc. My .308 happens to be a Remington 700SPS Stainless and works, straight out of the box, all I have done is chop about 3" (75mm) off the barrel.
  21. ...and it can pass to dogs as well, one site I have has had two cases of fox mange in their farm dogs, that gets expensive!
  22. Breaking in new rifles (barrels) is never going to do any harm and potentially can only do good, so always worth it, I even break in my .22lr! Lots of information on forums/web about methods. ATB!
