  2. I was laughing at my son today. At dinnertime he said he wanted more meat then proudly proclaimed he liked meat and wasnt an amphibian! Im still laughing now. Anyone elses kids said something daft?
  3. Thats a long time to keep a gos on a bow. My p/r gos was put into the smaller of my aviaries in order for it to not build up any speed and covered the mesh so it was totally enclosed. I would have a punt and say it would damage itself more on a bow than freelofted in a small enclosed aviary.
  4. just back from chasing hens that had escaped!!

  6. Cheers malt . Its just got all my favourite recipes in for chutney, and tells how to make jam etc for the beginner. Plus it has a section on how to pickle things like cabbage, eggs etc. Its aimed at people like me who arent professionals but like to give that sort of thing a go. At £5 posted im not making anything, its just a cheap, easy book for when you need a quick and easy reference.
  7. Question for the "pro" gardeners. Ive just had some cracking asparagus crowns delivered from a garden centre (made the mistake of buying pre-packed from a supermarket last year ). Anyway, theyve come and are real healthy but (my error) arent really meant to be planted until april. Should i leave them wrapped up for a month or plant them in pots in the greenhouse?? Cheers trappa

  15. Ive never ever caught an unusual coloured mole. I trap feckin loads too so you would think the law of averages would give me a good chance. I must catch between 50 and 150 every week and have every winter for years but still nothing.
  16. As plenty on here are aware Im quite passionate about food preservation and make my own jams, jellies and chutneys etc. Anyway, Ive put together a book with my favourite recipes on in order to share. Its aimed at the beginner looking to make a start at making their own jams, jellies, chutneys etc so if your an old hand it probably wont be for you. The vast majority of recipes are dedicated to produce from the garden, allotment or from foraging for brambles, sloes etc. There is a section too on pickling - a very basic "how-to"" for things like eggs, cabbage and the like. Ive wrote it out i
