Its a crying shame. I get my greenhouse and shed broke into regularly here and my dad gets loads of veg pinched too (ive never noticed if mine goes) but that doesnt compare to getting your hens pinched. Hope you find them and snap their knuckles. Thieving low lifes.

Ha! Thats got me thinking, maybe someone on here has paid him as they know im gonna win! I bought more seeds last night and a plastic greenhouse from homebase for my house. That way he wont go near them!

AAAHHHHH!!!!!! Went down to my greenhouse on my lotty today and my dad has taken all the seeds i planted in trays, thats kohl rabi, indian corn, german cabbages AND MY MARROWS and has chucked them all even tho they were marked up! Im as sick as f*ck now. Gonna have to go to the shop tonight to buy more,the senile bas**rd.

Just a couple of pics. First one is some broad beans getting put in. Im not mad keen on broad beans so i just stick them in on the end where the soil isnt great. Second pic is left hand side of my "lotty". Its on a good slope but its south facing so its great for growing. 10 metres wide x 30 metres long.

As of today ive got 3 rows of spuds in, 4 rows of broad beans and a new row of asparagus. Plus some onions in, some onions in trays int greenhouse coming on, along with some turnips and sweetcorn.

Well im looking forward to it! Love the royal family, and will be celebrating in the pub. Its getting a bit of coverage ratkiller, but i guess it might ironically be bigger news on that side of the pond than this.

DD, im probably not the person to ask as im an asparagus newbie myself. I do know that they require a good well manured trench to sit them in though. I dug my trench ,put a good dose of manure and compost in, mixed it up, left it a bit then planted my crowns and covered with compost and soil.

Excellent craigyboy! Desertdog, im ok doing it any way, if thats the way people fancy doing it then thats fine. i havent done a comp before and just presumed it would be both length and weight as that way you can roughly see its length on a photo. For a prize i can donate a signed copy of my " Jampacked " book if thats ok. Its got a good marrow chutney recipe in too!

Worms and slugs i would think? Slugs can be collected up now, ive been collecting loads lately and dumping them down the woods. Are you leaving your spuds in the ground too long?

Ye, think we will finish our comp end of september, start of october. Anyone got a points plan for the winning marrow? Need to get a total from length, girth and weight to find our champion.
