  1. Odds are it will have been a female sparrowhawk.
  2. Anyone on here used a rechargable hand warmer like HotRox or something similar?? I think rechargeable will be the way forward but id rather buy if id had feedback first. The HotRox feedback seems hit and miss when i google it
  3. Days like today i wish i couldnt trap. At a real bleak spot and the snow kept falling, the wind was like foooking ice and i was as sick as foooook. Im sat in front of stove now trying to warm through. Only billed three hours as well!!! Had to drive back home cos i got muddled and had brought a shitload of the wrong traps, thinking it was another farm, then i got called back again cos i had put the daughters car key on my keyring taking the lad to rugby last night and forgot and she needed to be at the hairdressers for her appointment. Ah well, back at it tomorrow
  4. I think its just a matter of time before you get him, your doing everything right. I think Id be adding some snares too as mentioned by someone else, setting them late on and taking them up again through the day so dogs arent an issue. Keep us posted.
  5. nice one rake aboot, like to here stories of people saving money on bills. My roof already has the solar panels on so no room for thermal. I dont think my garden is big enough for ground source so it would be air or nothing. Ill probably not bother, Im not exactly flush at the moment and it would take a few years to rake back the outlay.
  6. Is it any good the air source heating? i went through the motions of trying to drop my monthly bills right down. Got solar panels installed to drop the leccy bills, got a wood burner installed to save on heating and a new boiler. Put my feelers out for a air source heat pump but didnt get great feedback with regard to them.
  7. Coulda smashed that the other morning. Or at least id have put a good dent in it. Proper that mate, nice one

    Close Call

Coulda been a lot worse by the sound and looks of it.
  9. Id be over the moon if i made that.

    Rip's

We should do a dead pool with these and a few more.
  11. I found out last week that a farmer i do some work for has throat cancer from smoking. Lovely bloke, didnt drink either i believe, his only vice was smoking.
  12. No i dont think you need anything specific mate, im not sure what you do at the moment or what certs you already have but some of the pesticides youll use like ficam and the like are nasty so it would make sense to do a course before the season starts in the spring just so you know what your dealing with.
  13. Na, not really hydro. Ive had a couple of books but they are a dull read. There are plenty of magazines out in the newsagents, again, not a great read, or i dont particularly enjoy them anyway
  14. Ive given the farmer half of what i think the coin was worth on the farms i have that agreement with. The way i try to look at it is if i try to be honest, that way the farmer doesnt actually mind you on his land cos every now and then your slipping him twenty quid or so. Most ive given was £50 for a scottish james 1st twenty penny coin, it was in super nick and i was over the moon with it, i reckoned id have got around £100 on ebay so everyone was happy.
  15. Well if it was me Id be getting my .22lr out and going for something a bit bigger than a rabbit if you get my drift
  16. Mackem i tried pming you but your box must be full. Try regtons mate, they will tune it for you i bet.
  17. Nice one mate. Good job for a realistic price and you get more work. Win win for everyone (apart from rentoswil obviously)
  18. I've the big coiltek one, 14 inch i think. Covers a lot of ground and goes DEEP. In the summer I've been using the deus up on the dry sand and rocks with the small 9 " coil on, the sovs coil is too big for up there, where the smallest coil is best. My mate uses a tiny sniper coil and he bags more goodies than i do.
  19. I,m looking at the deus lite with the 11 inch coil,,,how do you rate it trappa ,what settings do you use,and why did you want to wrap it round a tree lol Mate, i swear, if i was a multi millionaire i would still use the same detector, i dont think it can be beat tbh. Its so light you can swing it all day, its as complicated or as easy as you want it to be. If you google "Garys cold settings" and use that as a benchmark, its a good all-rounder, i still use that and my own pattern ive tweaked over the lat couple of years. As for wrapping it round a tree, i had gone from a minelab etrac to
  20. Ive a deus torchey, with 11" coil, superb bit of kit. Hated first week i got it though, nearly wrapped it round a tree.
  21. Youll get a minelab xterra 305 or a garret 250 for less than £150 on fleabay. Both decent starter machines, minelab x terra slightly better.
  22. Mate, its a great hobby but it takes over your life and your work. Plenty of times Ive arrived at a farm to do a days mole trapping but within the hour Im swinging my detector about, and when it starts to hit you in the pocket and you dont care you KNOW its addictive. Good luck if you start it up though, send me a pm if you do. trappa
