  1. However there is something relaxing about picking through the dogs fur for thorns and the like.
  2. Where's this perfect ground at? Miles and miles of football pitch type ground full of game, Wiltshire is a minefield of flint to cut feet and legs so I found some greener land and the bramble vines have been just as bad, anyone wanna share their decent land? ?
  3. Always found advocate really good to put on dog, for house and bedding (important to do the lot in one go) Indorex spray is really good, and kills all the other bugs in your house, just spend the day out of house after use.
  4. Dog forgets about the rabbit and starts cutting shapes, big fish little fish cardboard box. Sorry couldn't help myself
  5. House trained? if it's just coming in for the night he won't understand. I'd go back to basics without the run, puppy pads and walks.
  6. Dam was bull whip grey Sire had collie grey bull deer Just does lamp
  7. In-between injuries were trying to scrape a season, so far staples on his foot and a hole in his knee which makes keeping in shape a ball ache but a couple of weeks of training and fingers crossed we will be back at it.
  8. https://stallionsheffield.co.uk/lures I have looked out of curiosity but not familiar.
  9. Tips; Be smart where you park, preferably walk, but beware injuries happen so have a plan if your a distance from vehicle eg first aid, phone a friend. Don't set patterns, change times and locations. Don't be frivolous with light when lamping. If in doubt drop. Collect game later, but beware a cache can turn into an easy ambush. Loose lips and pics sink ships. Be respectful to land to give a low profile and allowing for future endeavours (it just makes sense, if a farmer sees your lamp at night and it's damage free the next day it might keep him bed as appose
  10. Poaching is not spoiling anything, it's how the general public perceive hunting and how the media reports, as a species were now a million miles away from interaction with how our meat hits the table. And unfortunately these people can have a dramatic effect on our way of life without any understanding of the lifestyle. And it seems it's really easy for us to point the finger at each other and miss the big picture.
  11. If he finds this barbaric, he must get PTSD from Asda in the meat aisle.
  12. Why are farmers and rural communities putting us out of action, they will be in the same boat when the anti meat communities start taxing and clamping down on livestock, they need to pull their heads out their ass
  13. As above tug of war, but if the pup doesn't hold onto dummy with a good grip don't let it have it, take it for another course and pull out of mouth if the grip is rubbish and tug of war on a good grip with some encouragement. I probably done this to much with my hound because; Down side; My hound has a great ball retrieve (shit with rabbits) but the buggar grips in tight when I try to take it out his mouth usually have to say release a couple of times (not aggressive, just wants to play with it) Rabbits get a death grip. Upside; Good strike.
  14. Mine sniffs up hard thru his nose like it's blocked now and again after a heavy run, usually just lasts a day or two, no clue what it is
  15. It should be banned. Unless its on a high fence to dissuade intruders I can't see the benefit, it only seems to work on dogs and the arse of my trousers. And a cost me a few Bob on vet bills the other year for staples, painkillers and antibiotics.
  16. Perspective; Pets4homes - breed - mixed 350 for a lurcher don't seem so bad after looking at this madness.
  17. Cheers Dam was bull x whip x grey Sire bull x whip x grey x collie x deer Not sure on percentage but mostly grey 27tts, very good temperament, great for the lamp, got his Con's but most are from me so all is forgiven.
  18. Just got the young and 2 seems to be the magic number this season, but not fussed, hunting weather is looking better now. Hope young un is hunting soon BN.
  19. Save ya money, as soon as you find something there's light everywhere anyway, might look good to record some runs tho or for some after hours wildlife spotting
  20. That was me, don't know if its the same with dogs but I can't imagine it healing on its own, especially with it protruding out that much now, initially it would of been fat poking out but I would think its probably intestine now, surgery should be straight forward, obviously not risk free, but anticipate at least 3 months out action all together, before slowly starting to build back up.
  21. If the doctor told me to think of my guts hanging out as sticky out belly button I'd get a second opinion!
  22. If its similar to ours it won't heal and will just get worse (got a little scar from one from surgery earlier in the year) in people there one of safest hernia surgery options but the intestine can risk being strangled with umbilical hernias and risk major infections if left untreated. Hope that's helpful
  23. Could be the future designer lurchers? do they do them in Russian camouflage to make it easier to take rabbits in the snow, or with black heads to rob banks in the summer to keep them fit in the off season.
  24. My hound has placed them into categories of, Fur = needs to be chased and squashed. Feather = unless its really close and I can be bothered then I might go 50%, and if its a pheasant I'm gonna pluck it. He's had duck, pheasant and a gull, but as he gets older He chooses his runs on feather unless its in close proximity. He's a lurcher to lurcher mostly grey with whippet, collie, deer and bull and a smidge of stubbornness.
