  1. We should be free to make our own choices, simple. If Keith wants to stay home and others the same that’s there choice to make. It shouldn’t be made for us, this virus is the biggest con in history and the fallout will cost many many lives and even more livelihoods. The cure will prove fair more harmful than the virus. If your under 40 your chances of dying this year haven’t changed! If you under 65 they risen a barely noticeable amount. Children have fair more chance of dying of cancer, cot death etc than Covid 19. It’s all well and good hiding indoors but furlough can’t carry on forever and
  2. Depressingly spot on. If it’s true that black people have a 4 times higher chance of death and it’s as dangerous as being made out Africa should be in a desperate state but it’s not ?. We have had an overreaction that will have far reaching consequences for the entire country and now the government and media are trying to cover up their mistakes. The lockdown we have had has achieved bugger all, it was not strict enough to really stop the virus but plenty strict enough to destroy our economy for years to come. Great. Time to throw everything we have at protecting those that are actually at ris
  3. I don’t doubt that for one single second. My point was more that they have actually amazingly produced an article that wasn’t scaremongering bullshit for once. If the media had acted more responsibly people won’t be terrified to leave there house despite the fact it’s overwhelmingly unlikely you will die of this virus. The real pain is coming in the form of job losses and poverty in the worst recession we have ever seen as a result of shutting our entire country.
  4. Good first post mate....what’s the second post going to be? Anyone know of any decent unicorns for sale? ??
  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52543692#comment_139161205 At last some context from the BBC, this article actually uses facts rather than fear and shows that if you are not ill already your chances of dying this year are the same in a normal year as this year if your under 30 (and no underlying problems) and if your under 50 (and no underlying problems) only very marginally increased. What happened to personal risk? Everyday we get in a car, drink a beer or fly in plane there is a risk of death but we live with it, it’s our choice we need to be able to make our own choice over this
  6. I don’t think you have done anything wrong at all mate, just got a jill who clearly has no maternal instinct and seems to no recognise her own offspring. Regarding wider breeding I completely understand people like ferret lady that say they have no issues with early contact but I agree with Terryd and Micky I won’t touch them until there eyes are open and they are leaving the nest as I just don’t see what you gain except the potential to upset the mum and cause her to eat or abandon the kits. My ferrets are very friendly but they are working animals not pets, it’s not like a dog who lives in t
  7. I have always found livery yards productive spots for bunnies just sometimes a bit awkward with the horses and horsey people all over the place! However most are obsessed with their horses and if they see your safe they are always happy to see the hole digging pests dealt with and a air rifle is the safest way. Good luck hopefully they say yes.
  8. Been keen to get out but with all the madness at the moment I had been holding back but a livery yard owner was really keen and things are a little more relaxed about travel etc now so thought off I go. Conditions were excellent as it had been raining most of the day but stopped just before I arrived. Turned up and immediately I could see plenty of rabbits out feeding so loaded the AA S410 and started my rounds, walked out the yard and two youngsters were stood not 10 yards from me first shot straight to the head then down towards the paddock and a large doe 20 yards away, a conveniently locat
  9. A fair point but your giving these people way to much credit!!
  10. Just love a do gooder telling me to pick up dog shit when your in a field full of sheep or cows with shit everywhere! Go and tell the farmer to pick up the shit of his 100 cows first and see what he says!!! Clueless.
  11. If the farmer wants you in there then do it, my only advice would be to say your doing paid pest control (I know that is probably a lie) as you are 100 percent allowed to work if you can’t work from home and you can’t shoot rabbits from home! If plod then pull you over your well within your rights.
  12. Absolutely agree about never knowing what’s round the corner, I like to ideally own a couple of dogs at different stages. My old veteran is around 8/9 and he still useful but obviously lacks the pace of youth and got a 2 year old whippet that is really coming on into a top rabbit dog but handy to still have the veteran for if the whippet is out of action. I won’t get another until the whippet is past his prime as like you say one is really enough but sometimes a dog comes up and you just have to have it!
  13. Perfect rabbit dogs. Right up my street they are. You going to have one?
  14. Well done Trev, good to see your videos and nice to see there are a good few bunnies around in some parts of the country still ??
  15. I got one for the first time last summer, was only a young kit and bloke said she was a micro but seemed a nice kit and had her. She is definitely noticeably smaller than my other jills but she is a very game little worker and can bolt rabbits fairly well especially as last season was her first season. I wouldn’t however deliberately buy another micro as I feel that, game as she undoubtedly is, she can be bullied at times and I don’t feel she offers any advantage over a larger jill or smaller hob.
  16. I was sat on a hill near me in January watching a few warrens in warm January sun and counted 14 baby rabbits hoping in and around the holes but had to sit there for a while before they came out and once you moved they ran in. There’s no known disease out there that would only kill the young (as with cornovirus it more likely to kill adults than the young) RVHD1 young rabbits were actually naturally immune. If you have adults around there’s bound to young somewhere. Does will nest away from the main Warren often so sometimes where you see adults you won’t see young.
  17. Mixi is still a horrible killer of rabbits and no matter how many times I’ve seen a mixi rabbit I still feel such a feeling of despair when I see one, evil disease and terrible death. Nothing worse than seeing numbers build up nicely then going back to a spot and seeing corpses everywhere.
  18. Every doe I caught from late jan onwards till the last one I had two weeks ago was either milky, pregnant or both.
  19. There’s a fair few around me but maybe not as many as you might expect but it’s hard to know as not really out and about as much as usual due to the bloody virus.
  20. Exactly. The WHO and China massively covered up what was happening and our government listened to scientists but they probably listened to the wrong ones and mistakes have been made and lives have been lost but what’s done is done and we must focus on moving forward. Sandy rather than say what should have been done let’s here something sensible and if you’ve got all the answers how do we get out of this shit storm? Because you lock the country down to long there will be no NHS left and you relax it to early and we have more deaths. It’s a nigh on impossible situation for a government and one w
  21. I think people like sandy need to firstly save all this shit for after this is over now is not the time for petty political points scoring, secondly the who advice was followed and they are a disgrace of an organisation that have made the entire thing worse, thirdly until this is over and we have accurate death rates from all counties we will not know who has done best. There is ever chance we will never have a vacation against it and countries like Germany will end up with a similar death rate to every one else but take longer to get there doing more damage to society in the process. Fourth t
  22. Your lucky if you can ever keep entire hobs together during spring/summer time, I have kept ferrets for 30 years and always have to separate my hobs or they pull chunks off each other. You will either need to keep them separate or castrate them as Neil says above.
  23. Bloody our team ruined many a thread...prick ??
  24. One thing I doubt anyone would argue about is there is no way only 3.5k people died in China. From the little independent journalism coming out for China the number could be tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands. An article I read yesterday said talking to a crematorium worker said that at the worst point they we working 5.00am to 8.00pm with 5000 bodies waiting to go in the oven and his was at one of EIGHT crematoriums across the city. If we have had 10,000 hospital deaths so far think what they will have actually had. Mind boggling. It’s also incredibly scary that know one is publi
