  1. Got out for a couple of hours today but the pigeon were on the barley a couple of fields away. I needed to make more noise to stir them up but nevertheless... Here is the snaps. U.
  2. keep the air rifle for Rabbits and get a centrefire for foxes , or go for a 243 then you can do foxes and most deer apart from Reds . I'm not quite following that! I have 12ftlb, FAC Air and an assortment of rimfires, centrefires, shotguns and pistols. First off, everyones situation and circumstances and land are different, so only the individual can really make the decision as to what works best for them. A .243 is a centrefire, so I'm not with your comment, and as for Reds, the LAW says a .240, with energy/weight/etc minimum spec (slightly different in England/Wales and Scotl
  3. She did have an eye irritation a few weeks back. She rubbed them raw on the bottom eyelid. I put some Stockholm tar on the sores, just a tiny amount. Healed up real quick then.
  4. The only 17 I would consider is 17Rem. It however is limited in wind, the super accuracy is gone in any gusty winds. It also struggles in rain. Many a time I witnessed a bullet never reaching the target in rain. Hornet is a very efficient cartridge as is. Shooting at great distance at vermin just increases pressure on the shooter and something is missing, hunting, hunting is missing. It's just sniping and little satisfaction is gained from it. Actually it soon becomes frustrating.
  5. Little Jess got a seed washed into her ear tonight after rinse down. She was very irritated and in discomfort. The only thing I could do was to irrigate the ear with warm water. After a few times and her expelling the water I found two wet seeds on the kitchen floor! She seems quite back to normal again. Anyone else had this happen? U.
  6. Hornet can be reloaded to very respectful velocities. I too would not go to 17. Never trade bullet weight for velocity alone.
  7. Good photo. Pheasant are my best friend when it comes to locating a fox! U.
  8. I don't have the issues you report from the family on this unit. I noticed some one else has been working the area recently though. This place is near cheswardine. I have been working this area for near 25 years. U.
  9. Cut grass is a must for a keen fox shooter. Well done.
  10. Hornet suffers from rusting. Due to not being enough heat produced to dry the water vapour released on firing resulting in some condensation forming in the bore, especially near the chamber. Two shots close together warms the barrel enough to air it out but a single occasional shot can leave water in the bore.
  11. I had combination guns years ago but never a Baikal one, handy tools for sure. I quite like the Baikal single shot rifles. U.
  12. How you going to hold the crank?put it in gear with the handbrake onUsually to much wind up in the gear train buddy.
  13. I use to love Baikal ammo. Flame thrower. This single is super tight, and not just the choke. It's stamped up at .710". I took the choke out so it's around 1/4 or less and it still shoots tight! U.
  14. Very kind Sussex. Thanks stoggy. U.
  15. No mate, just a notch. Thanks all. U.
  16. Got under some woodies today with Dolly. Bizzy mags work well on woodies in low sittie trees. U.
  17. Short session on the woodies yesterday. I had a problem with a flintlock so reached for the Baikal single. I got a bag full in the end. U.
