  1. that is a lovely bit of work by your old man, wish I had one like it, ( dad not catty )I recon you could fit some flats on that without much problem, I know it's a trust issue and I won't be offended if you say piss off, but I would be happy to have a tinker with it in my man cave and get it fitted out with a nice pouch and some tbg bands for you, alternatively if your happy to do the work yourself I will sendyou the stuff to do it yourself, IE bands pouch and some ties A.T.B Paul Great offer that is mate well done cheers mate, it's one of the few pleasures of getting old, you realise you ca

  3. . If it's just to get the dog back, why not just forget to mention the previous biting incident, get the policy then get the dog back and tell the insurance after, they will then just cancel the policy or amend it,
  4. easy, early Toyota like the one they tried to kill on top gear
  5. . I think I would want more than a catty for £100 I,ve bought a few decent air rifles for that sort of money, plus the main benefit of carrying a catty is you can throw it in the hedge if your caught out, and if it's still there when you go back bonus, but if it's gone all you have lost is a stick and some elastic, but each to there own I guess
  6. that is a lovely grain pattern, I can see why you like it, the work is quality to FairPlay, what finish do you use and what are the cuts of your bands?
  7. . I don't think there is any hatred, towards Martin or anyone else here, it's just nice to get other people's idea,s and experiences before parting with your hard earned wedge, that's what the forum is for surely, I doubt I will ever be buying anyone's gear really unless it's in a trade as I like making my own to much, there is something really special about natty,s, I may make 5-6 before I find the one that fits like a glove and hits everything I point at, and you just can't buy that feeling
  8. she still has everything going for her this is totally human error and know fault of the dog, why get rid of a dog because of your mistake?
  9. i have one right outside my French doors I don't even have to leave my chair to watch them coming and going, only downside the sparrow hawk is now making almost dailly raids in the garden, it took a nesting hedge sparrow last year about six inch,s above the brother in laws head and sadly the nest and eggs failed
  10. What a f***ing contradiction... exactly mate some people in city,s now even feed dogs on a veggie diet, but they would still get an on the spot fine from some little jumped up park warden if it shat in the streets, horses are just dog food waiting to happen, don't get me started on horses
  11. i have,nt long netted for around 30 years, but when I did all our poles were just cut from hazel, one tree will provide years worth also used the off cuts for snare pegs, I guess things move on
  12. Says the person sat on a horse in there avitar dido 1
  13. . My son has just returned from a nights fishing in Gloucestershire, and he saw lots of house and sand martins, also spoke to the local twitcher that told him there have been swallows there since March, he stops by every time we fish up there and is a mine of birdy info so I would have know reason to doubt him
  14. . There are several people, in this country that have just taken ideals from bill Hayes, and put there own little spin on them, one or two have even gone on to make quite a name for themselves, I won't name names or point fingers, I did,nt think you could improve on your ppsg, but if you want something a little bit special, I would be looking at bills site as not only is he an unbelievable catty shot but he is also responsible for most of the better designs on the market today, and he's a very honest and helpful person to do business with, I,m a staunch homemade catty fan but if I were to ever
  15. back in the days when all hunting was ok I had a little whippet cross that I got from the local dogs home, and a harder runner I,ve never met she would go to ground, and I spent many afternoons digging her out, but her one big hate that I could never break was cats, she once knocked herself out on the car window because she saw one on the pavement, and one day she actually climbed a tree after one that had gone up to escape her, about 15 foot up she fell and landed on her ass which snapped her tail, from that day until she went on, her tail had a ninety degree bend in it about half way along,
  16. Going to give this a bump, because I,m hoping for a happy ending, any news?
  17. And here it is finished, five coats of Danish oil, waxed and polished, the hardest job is still to come, Getting rid of it,
  18. it ain't the poachers round here it's the Badgers, the rabbits seem to be clinging on in small pockets, but I found another set yesterday, dug out and occupied by a young pig with the remains of the previous occupants left outside in the spoil of the dug out set, the over protection of the badger population is having a massive negative effect on rabbits and hares, maybe Brian the poodle may should come and explain why we need an alpha predator,s population spiralling out of control at the cost of everything else, I now see more deer than bunnys on my normal walks, good to hear you still have a
  19. Sorry I have,nt read the full thread, but to me my hunting is just a massive urge to be away from the shite of the modern world, I still go and spend a few nights just sleeping outdoors every year, and even though I,ve clocked up a few years on my life clock I,m still quite happy that I could survive comfortably without to many of the things most people have become reliant on in today's fake world, it's my basic animal instinct, that I,m proud is still alive and kicking
  20. absolutely love those bullfinch pics,I only ever see one or two in a year usually if I'm lucky
  21. My first week back to work after Christmas, and I took a bit of a fall, resulting in a fractured ankle, torn ligaments and a couple of chipped bones, which left me in plaster on crutch,s, never really got to grips with the crutch,s so I started chopping them about a bit and today whilst being bored due to the crap weather, put the bits together to make a starship catty,, have,nt had a lot of chance to shoot it but the first few shots are pretty promising, it seems very powerful due to the extended draw length and hits were you point it, will take it out in the week for a proper go, but here it
  22. i made some slider for Christmas and rather potent it was to, it's made by keeping the sloes from my sloe gin and sloe vodka, when bottling it up,then put all the fruit in a large sealable container and pour a gallon of scrumpy over it, you can drink it within a week and it tastes lovely and knocks your socks off, I left one a bit too long and it started fermenting and blew the tub up but I recon if you put one of those bubble valve thingys in the top it would just get stronger and stronger, that's for the next lot I do
  23. in my youth there was a company in Cornwall called cobbledicks, and they used to buy everything, fox pelts were just laid out flat on a bin bag wet and rolled up into a sausage with an elastic band round and struck in the freezer, when the freezer was full it was just packed in a cardboard box and posted off, he would grade them and send you a cheque, fox pelts were between £15/25 squirrel tails 50p hares masks, jays wings and just about everything else all had value we even used to get bags of shells from the beach and he would pay you for them by weight, the Chinese chip shop used to buy all
  24. here is a hazel natty I,m just doing, it's shaped to be held in the right hand, hope this works as its my first piccy uploaded here,
