  1. Always good when they preform from day one, I have been lucky this year, tried a new line of young, and have turned out to be crackers.
  2. so now you got dogs that can hit a tree at full speed and their fine with it lol any dog hitting a tree at full speed wont be fine after it whatever breed it is I didn't say that did I so don't add things that are not there ... The bitch hit a tree stump chest first at full speed and after an hours rest was back at work ... There is a man on this forum that was there and witnessed the whole event ... The collision would have killed a whippet ....... If your dog had more whippet in it, it may have had the brains and agility to go around the stump - just saying Doug grins I know mate because wh

  4. What dogs do you work, and what temperature do they work in, be great to see some pictures of the land they run on. Atb Here is a link to my YouTube page plenty of footage of the land and dogs https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCet7Vy9obEw8IQK4ZcOcJ5A?view_as=public Our average temperature 22- 25 Celsius, in late spring and summer it’s a lot warmer I don’t work over 30 mainly because the ferrets can’t hack it. The dogs get use to the heat, as long as you keep them near water you are fine. Most of the ground is rock hard here except for a couple of moths of the year even then its not w
  5. GL mate, hope all goes well for the bitch & pups she looks a nice sort
  6. I was going to say something similar. After my early education with working dogs, living in Coniston with hairy beardie crosses, walking them early and late and always close to the beck, now I can go out whenever I want. It needs to be temperatures of around 30°c for several days before my kelpie bitch , Scout, will give in and stop for a drink. Noggin seems to feel the heat a tad more though, which I presume is down to his slightly longer coat...difficult to tell with the temperatures we're getting this summer! Old Rusty would still look for a warm spot to lay in in the garden even when the h
  7. Nice spot, Plenty of rabbits here too You can see a burrow on the other side if you look close
  8. Move to Australia! We dont have a season, our dogs work in the heat (when its too hot I try and stay along a creek,so they can keep cool) and there is more rabbiting spots than you could work in a lifetime.
  9. Quicksets are idiot proof, even I can use them, and there is a few videos online on how to use them. Speak to Nels0n on this forum he will get you sorted.
  10. Will be good to see how he turns out, atb with it nice line
  11. Pure whippet 14 year old only ever run on hard ground (coz thats all we have) retired this year that said he is WELL past his best (22tts) never seen a lurcher beat him over 30 yards no chance the other dog is 3/4 whippet 1/4 deerhound x grey pup. Nothing wrong with pure whippets thats for sure if you get the type right!
  12. I knew Aussie dog's were tougher, we dont have weak feet or soft ground - Doug grins INC
  13. If it feels like grisle its probably a cist, it could also be a thorn from a blackberry bush or the like under the skin (if it is it will pop and come out eventually) as above get it checked out
  14. Some good looking dog's there mate, looks like it would have been a great day. Thz for sharing

  19. Everyone that was against it whether they like it or not, is a minority. Financial pressures from the powers that be will be forth coming Hard slog lies ahead, but at least you will be slogging for yourselves, and better for it in the long run IMO
  20. It’s funny now but not at the time. I lived on a 40 acre property some years back and had a few dogs, that were never chained, one morning I came out to see the youngest pup (6mths) who had previously never shown any interest in birds, sitting wagging his tail covered in blood and feathers hanging out of the side of his mouth. Ran down to the pen to see every bird dead. I did break him from the habit eventually. I have lost a few here and there to fox’s but the most I lost was that night.
  21. I do like solitude, and my own company, most of the hunting; fishing i do is usually on my own. I'm sure I could survive if need be, but as a life style choice no thanks, I would still like a few mod con's, ie chain saw etc.
  22. Good job mate, thats how pups should look
