  1. It looks superb Jimmy and so much more detail in the wood showing on the big screen rather than the ones you sent to my phone. The only issue with this gun is the stock...................... no thumbhole................... ? Phil
  2. My pal just bought a Snowpeak PP750 pcp pistol, we checked it a the shop on the skan unit, 5.2fpe. I fitted a laser torch on top and set it for 10mt, amazingly accurate, 6 shot mag, pellet on pellet rested on a bag with the slide out stock thingy pressed against my gut, staying very stable. My pal works in a rural site office where the rats and rabbits come through the surrounding fence, already taken several rats and a rabbit eating one of his plants just by the fence so roll on the cold weather as the rat population increases as they come for the bird seed fallen on the ground. I really e
  3. It was shooting the wmr barrel all the time at first when my pal owned it but I only have the hmr barrel on but from what I recall, the wmr barrel shot well.
  4. Not used the .22lr for a while preferring the .22 fac air but started to use it again with a smile on my face. I think I am going to sell the Sako Quad HMR/ Wildcat mod with spare .22 WMR barrel as it is just used, not one shot this year. I have always fancied the .22 10/22 semi auto but heard bad things about them jamming etc. Phil
  5. I agree with you Jimmy, I would never buy a sub 12 version, what is the point of all that adjustment for sub 12, it is a gun designed for full power not 12fpe. Phil
  6. My .25 fac was as good as gold as well.
  7. Welcome to the mad house. I don't think he will take much notice as the thread was started in 2008, dorment since then and I don't think he is on here any more. Phil
  8. Well the gun is now back with Sportsman to sort the issues including an air leak somewhere, not impressed and it was not mine but my buddy who the gun belonged to is so pissed off, he waited 6 weeks to get it then sending it back doubles the pain. Fingers crossed they will sort it.
  9. Can't agree with you regarding fac versions Jimmy...........................anyway how are you doing mate.
  10. No not mine, I don't have the cash and if I had, I would not buy an sub 12 Impact, fantastic fac but to me a waste of money in sub 12 but my close buddy had made his mind up to have one. He is in Spain at the moment but asked me to set it up so after a good clean and fit the Airmax 30 compact scope. His choice of pellet was AA Fields as they are what he uses in his other guns but at 25mt in the rfd range the grouping was shit so digging out some other pellets including JSB Exact, JSB Heavy and AA Express all of which produced better groups than the AA Fields BUT not groups that I would be hap
  11. Even a numpty like me can fit both in less than 10 mins................honest DB.
  12. Ratting........................sport of kings, well me and my buddy anyway. ? Phil
  13. My Tikka T1x is cracking, I found the RWS gave the best results by far although Eley subs were close. If you look on ebay, you can get a different set of grips to change the angle of the pistol grip and also if yo like a fuller shape to the forend, again you can get an extra clip on forend. I have fitted both and find it a far better comfort for both and it takes only a few minutes to fit them. Phil
  14. Well done, when the farmer sees you bothering about crows that nobody else can be bothered with, you are on to a winner.
  15. The hides worked well this afternoon in terms of the few birds that were around took little notice of the new hides. Having been on the rifle for the last few weeks, It can play havock with shooting with the shotgun but after a few misses on those very wary crows, I managed to take one or two along with a couple of pigeon but conditions were not ideal with no breeze and quite humid. We were happy that the hides were just about spot on for this shooting although I wish I had taken the air rifle as well as a few woodies were sneaking in on the sitty trees. It has been quite some while sin
  16. I must admit the weather today is warm and quite humid, not quite ideal to be taking loads of wood, tools etc up the fields to build two permanent hides for both shotgun shooting but also perfect for air rifle as they are only about 15 - 20 yds from two sitty trees. We are lucky as all the cammo netting we use and all the wood support posts are free as we get them from the village tip and the worst is perhaps me having to cut 3 x 3'' post down to 2 x 2'' posts in order to get them in the ground a bit easier. Back home for a bit of lunch, cool down and off again in a few minutes to try the
  17. I have shot 3 times at my dairy farm perm in the last two weeks taking my buddy down last night. It is not a mega perm now the rats have almost gone ( it was a 1000 a year rat perm and sadly missed ) but nevertheless it is enjoyable to go and shoot 12 - 20 birds a session and home again in a couple of hours. Last evening we had just walked into the yard and I saw a feral sat on one of the barn roofs which is where we shoot most of the birds including crows, I took the shot and the bird dropped off the roof and with a flutter hit the ground with a thud, within a second one of the farm cats cam
  18. I was asked to look at a stables yesterday and I will do but the owner said they were inundated with rats, must be thousands.....................hmmmmm we will see, you never know there might be Yahoo if there are thousands.
  19. Ah thank you Ian, I didn't know that. I am feeling relieved that I have not attempted to go for any in that case and I am not going for a centrefire as it is just not worth doing so for me, I am happy to see them around the perms anyway. It was just a thought. Phil
  20. Strange that as I never had an issue with either calibre but there will always be the case that the shot didn't do the job but in the most part, I prefer .177 in sub 12. Whilst on holiday a couple of years ago at John Bidwell's shooting ground in Suffolk, I shot two rabbits with my .177 HW110 compact from the verander of our lodge very late one night, lazered at 63mt outright kills which was as far as I would take it. I do think sometimes we can get a notion in our heads and nothing will change and a new gun is the only way you can see things getting better that but nevertheless I hope t
  21. I have never shot a deer so forgive my ignorance but what do you mean when you say it was ' clean ' as I can't work that one out. We have a lot of deer in the part of Lincolnshire where I live, in fact I have seen quite a few wander into the village and many a night when I have been out on the rabbits, the deer showing up on the nv were only 40 - 50 yds away. The ones we have thought of shooting are the muntjac which are getting more common but not sure if an hmr would be suitable as I only have .22lr, sako quad with hmr and wmr barrels. I was told the muntjac are a bit of a bugger to
  22. I don't think I could see 258yds let alone shoot at that range, wheres me walking frame...................... Phil
  23. Just as a matter of interest Jason, is it the calibre you didn't get on with and if so in what way didn't you get on with it or was it the gun that was a problem. Phil
  24. That is a nice rifle with a good reputation, you shouldn't go far wrong with that Jason, I am well pleased for you mate. I will have another 110 compact our Jimmy simply because I loved my two and no faults found but I do accept they have had problems although mine were fine, my buddy has two which are fine, his son has one which is fine and another pal has two which are fine.....................................................I only know I like the hw110 compact for lightness and they were spot on accurate but if the pension would allow, it would be another Wildcat in sub 12.........
  25. Whatever the gun, I just want another rat perm, ours is shot out so nothing but feral pigeon there now and I really miss rat shooting. My favourite type of shooting with an air rifle.
