Give Crawfords in Scunthorpe a try as they had one or two s/h guns in stock. Phil

I have never liked the look of the Impact but one day in the rfd, there was a s/h gun in .25 fac which I had a session with in the shop 25mt range and fell in love with an amazing gun so I bought it. I found it to be a perfect vermin control gun with long range capability but also in use around the barns on rats at 8mt although I didn't like the look of the gun, it was fantastic to use. I think I was the first on THL to own one and had it for about 6 years and I would have another in .25 fac if money allows. Phil

A change to my sea fishing.........
philpot replied to philpot's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
You can take sea fish to eat providing they are above defra size limits. Most people will take a percentage of their catch home for a tasty meal. Phil -
Ah..................oh well you have some accurate feedback which is perhaps not what you wanted but still worth talking to Clay and Game . Phil

RETURNING BACK TO A SPRING AIR RIFLE
philpot replied to mitre's topic in Shooting Equipment & Accessories
I have had a few springers but simply don't enjoy using them other than at targets in a range or my garden, I would never want to use them for hunting. We have a few guys on here who are seriously good springer shooters, I know because I have seen what they can do but I find them too heavy compared to my pcp guns and even with a scope / NV on my guns they are still lighter than many springers without anything fitted. The important thing is to buy a pcp that is not a load of crap................. Phil -
Shooting tripod primos vs rifleman,…
philpot replied to Achilles-13's topic in Shooting Equipment & Accessories
A very late response as I never saw this post, I am sorry for that however I have used the Primos tripod for a number of years and have to say whilst there are some other systems on the market, some seriously expensive and some quite cheap, the Primos has proved to be really good bit of kit. Both my shooting partner and myself never go shooting withour taking the Primos with us. It has my vote. Phil -
A change to my sea fishing.........
philpot replied to philpot's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
As a late update, I have been in touch with one of the Akios team who is heavily involved with the long term testing of Akion kit before it is released onto the open market. During our texting I found out that one of the 3 piece rods was more than capable of handling a pendulum cast, perhaps not a full tournament pendulum but nevertheless a pendulum cast which is perfect for a fishing situation and that is the Airpower 435 SRS rod and at 14.5ft long it is ideal to use on the uk coast. I am not speaking with knowledge of this rod but I suspect that with braid, it will still give good bite dete -
I am not qualified to give you an accurate response however as far as I know, providing you are not using the 'SUPER STEEL' cartridges, you can use any choke but I stand to be corrected on that one. I would be tempted to contact Clay & Game who are specialists in cartridge production and reloading equipment and methods. I have spoken to them at a game fair and they were very helpful. Clay & Game WWW.CLAYGAME.CO.UK Clay & Game provide the shooter with all the components to produce their own shotgun cartridges at lower costs and higher performanc

I have both a 3lt bottle and a 12lt bottle which suits my needs but the thought of a Hills manual pump gives my old body the shakes let alone actually using one................heart attack to follow. Phil

I think so and yes I have been lucky enough to own some of these guns but now as a pensioner with limited money coming into the house, it is not possible to buy some of the guns. I did look at a Browning 725 in my local dealer and I have owned a couple from this manufacturer but I just do not get on with them, far more muzzle flip compared to Italian guns in my humble opinion.

The sun has been blasting through here all week, in fact I was sea fishing yesterday in shorts and T-shirt and had a couple of days in Suffolk Tue / Wed, again hot and sunny, we were in the hot tub for ages. You know how the saying goes ' the sun shines on the rightous ' Phil

I can only agree with you, no matter what gun I fancy trying, I always go back to Beretta and have owned a number over the years, the only guns which have compared well in my ownership was a Perazzi and Caesar Guerini both of which were superb guns. My first love however is still the Beretta........

Over the last few weeks I have seen a number of Youtube reviews for the new 688 Performance o/u clay gun, with a laminated stock, not normally something which floats my boat BUT the reviews are really complimentery about this gun which whilst not cheap (what is cheap nowadays), it sits between the Silver Pigeon and the 694 averaging around £3k. As a retired ole fart, spending that sort of money is not something I can easily do although my cottage is up for sale so a new gun will be on the cards when we move. My clay shooting has over the past couple of years taken a back seat due to g

Right Shaun, firstly, welcome aboard matey. As to your scope fixing, may I say that the scope you have bought is not really suited to a sub 12 air rifle, a 3 - 12 x 40 or 50 is ideal and the Hawke range is used by a huge number of air rifle shooters. Soooooo if you want to use the one you have, because of it being oversized tube and 56mm lens, you will have to go for high mounts to clear the lens from the picatiny rail. Take it into your local dealer to check the right one but 34mm tubes are just not used by many people so getting scope mounts is not easy, check with Ants Supplies if your

Well in a couple of days we will reach the official last day of winter although we have a very heavy frost this morning with a low of -2 degrees last night so perhaps we enter Spring with a thermal vest on. I have had a couple of sessions on the pigeon coming in to roost but not been out at night on the rabbits, I just have not felt like going out on cold nights whereas a few years ago I would be out on the rats and rabbits, I simply don't have the desire to leave the warmth of the cottage which I suspect that is perhaps something that comes with age. At the ripe old age of 73, I think I have

Now we are talking FX not one of those crappy daystates Jimmy. Phil

I have to say that I do like the look of this one BUT could I hand over £1800 for it....................................................................NO BLOODY WAY. # Phil

What the hell have you been drinking Jimmy to even ask if it will be a good gun, of course it won't, it will be another crock of shite that Daystate knocks out which is bound to fail and naturally it will be the fault of the owner and not the gun. i am surprised at you Jimmy, silly old bugger Phil

A change to my sea fishing.........
philpot replied to philpot's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Depending what your budget is, the Akios range of 3 piece rods are well worth considering. A chap I know is sponsored by them in part and he will be coming for a casting session with me when he can fit it in, he will be bringing quite a few of the range for me to evaluate but before that he will be carrying out his own test in the next week or two on his youtube channel......... The awful angler. it should be interesting. I have an AFAW Universal Bass rod, 11.5ft casting upto 150grm which is nothing short of superb for both casting and bite detection. I have not tested actual distance but
