  1. I do want to buy from a store as I have not owned a compound bow before so want to have the bow set up for me before I take it home and I know that is going to cost me more in the short term but I will gain the experiennce of being involved with the setting up and what to do in the future. Being an old fart, it is likely that I may well have to reduce the draw weight due to age or my arm condition or whatever so the intermediate and beginner bows have far more adjustment in power than the high end bows although Hoyt, Elite, PSE and Bowtech do have their entry level / intermediate bows which in
  2. I have just been pricing up Hoyt bows, £1750........... PSE, £1500........... Mathews, £1500 etc etc. I know there are some entry level bows from people like Hoyt and PSE but all their competition bows are roughly around that price then add sights and a set of good quality arrows and that is another £500 assuming you are going to be competition shooting which I am not so will not be spending that sort of money but I will still get plenty of pleasure from what I eventually buy.. Some of the Bear prices are quite good but rarely available in the uk, more is the pity.
  3. The prices for compound bows are so much cheaper over there and the US than in the UK and with the idiot who runs the US, any good price structure once had with America has gone so high prices is what we have to deal with. Phil
  4. I had one and Charlie Caller on here tuned it for me, amazing gun, lazer accurate but to heavy for me in the field so I sold it. I wonder what happened to Charlie (Tim), a good bloke for sure and I believe Pianoman had a gun tuned with him as well. I must dig out his phone number and give him a call. Phil
  5. Well thanks for that Daniel, if I was not too keen on the NP02 before, I am a lot less now.
  6. Well our Jimmy has become a tackle tart you see, blue stock and chromed barrels mind you I really cannot say anything as my old HW77 will have a green stock and possibly cerocoted metalwork this winter so Jimmy can have a laugh at me. The best scope on there I see James. Phil
  7. I have had a few compact guns but the NP02 whilst was very accurate, it has too long a stock for me and after stripping the butt pad off, it would be ok as my test showed in my local rfd shop but in all honesty, I am not a fan of the bottle next to my cheek added to that unlike the FX Verminator, they use a heavy steel air bottle. Good value for money and will do a job well enough but not for me. Thanks for you input however. Phil
  8. The test gun had both Snowpeak mags and Carm mags but it was the same with both, in fact I don't know if the previous owner went hunting but if he did there must have been quite a few runners. Phil
  9. Interesting..... I did not have a single shot loader to try but there were too many flyers to live with. Looks like an HW110 or a DRS has gone back to the top of the list again.
  10. I am disapointed to say the least after a session testing the P35 yesterday with 3 different pellets, AA Field, JSB Exact and H&N FTT, the very best group I could get (fully rested) was around 35mm at 25mt. Very strange, I might get 3 or 4 pellets in a clover leaf then the next two are tight but 25mm away then a change again. I was also getting a puff of air on my cheek so there is an air leak. I told the rfd and he tried to sort it with no avail so that went back on the rack for somebody else to buy. I will be talking to another rfd to perhaps sell the Impact fac to him and possibl
  11. I think you are right, keep it and enjoy but good luck if you do decide to sell. Phil
  12. Some of you may recall that I had one of these in .22 which I had been thinking of having a Mark Dempsey tune and shround/mod fitting but as it was a .22 I just decided not to go ahead and sold it. Today I popped into the rfd and on the rack was a mint P35 in .177 with a full Mark Dempsey tune and shroud/mod............................. well of course I had to pick it up. This thing is nothing short of lovely in the shoulder and compares well with an FX Wildcat. This gun is so quiet, you could barely hear it being fired, by far the quietest air rifle I have ever come across and it left me wan
  13. I do like the 57 being lighter than the 77 or 97 but these guns are just not popular compared to the 77, 97 and 95 so getting a good price is a bit of an uphill battle. My rfd had six returned from an activity centre which I sat down and tested all of them prior to them being sold. All had a few marks and a Nikko Sterling scope, they sold between £80 and £100 and took a while before they actually sold. I cannot see why they are not very popular because I found them to be really nice to use. Cost new is approx £430 sometimes with a scope included so you might be able to get between £150 and
  14. Many years ago, my first pcp was a Rotex R8 with a large bottle made of steel and a 19'' barrel..........................what a load of utter shit, the so called reg was next to useless and it varied from 11fpe down to 9.3fpe sp it went and never would one of those ever return. Well we should never say never because I wanted a pcp for a friend with a reasonable shots per fill as he has no air cylinder and some rats in the garden to get rid of so I borrowed a .177 compact which has a shots per fill of around 100 so should fit the requirement. I set up zero in my garden usinhg the Tasco AO s
  15. I take it this was in the USA which is a pity for me.
  16. Love this picture, where did you get it from.
  17. As long as they work for you, thats great. Phil
  18. Well guys, I went last Thursday for a taster session with these high tech compound bows..........................................hooked, loved it, gotta have one even my wife, Trish is up for a session, at archery you dirty lot... These bows are so specialized in the set up, you really have to know what you are doing (which of course I do not) BUT I am doing quite a lot of research to find the best bow for me and that I have a wide range of power adjustment to allow for my old fartdom taking it's toll. For example these bows can be adjusted from as an example, 10lb pressure up to 70lbs p
  19. Right BN, I have the open sights for you, front and rear so if you pm me your address details and your name as the postmman will assume that Mr B. Napper is the wrong address........ Phil
  20. I wish I had a quid for every time we have talked about TACKLE TARTS.......................................... Phil
  21. I went out last week during a reduction in the winds but I have an issue with the Impact in that I missed every shot and I am not that bad a shot. Just running some chrono strings to see if I have a reg problem. I think another run up to Pickering guns.
  22. Welcome aboard Chris. You have to bear in mind you have products in the US that we do not have in the UK and the two you mentioned certainly are not ones that I have come accross, interesting to know what id used over there though. Phil
  23. I had some although Not sure if I still have them as I know I gave some or all away. I bought mine from Countryman store but it was a while ago. Are you wanting them for a sub 12 or fac. Phil
