Thermal is growing at some rate but too expensive for me. You have used both NV and thermal so which do you think is better and why, that may sound daft to you but I have not even seen through a thermal device, the ones I have seen on youtube don't look so good but I am completely ignorant with thermal. No wonder you have a cull season with the numbers showing, only wish my perms produced that sort of volume although I am not complaining. Phil

Must admit, I have never come across a .20 cal and I would really like to try one out, on paper it sounds to be the perfect cal. Phil

Nice going Pav, you have got some cracking rabbit perms up there. Phil

Difference between Theoben Rapid 7 & 12
philpot replied to Gtbaker369's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Don't know what the 'banned text' is all about but I am not knocking the rifle, simply saying they didn't all have regs fitted. I got about 55 shots per fill so no issues there and it is down to a matter of preference as to which rifle anyone likes, I had the Impact and the Rapid together but prefer the Impact. God knows how well the Impact and others will last and quite possibly not as long as the Rapids, we will have to wait and see. I sold my Rapid to a pal so I can still have a play when I feel like and do so. Phil -
Difference between Theoben Rapid 7 & 12

Just to confirm Pav, not all Mk2 fac are regged from the factory. Mine had a quick fill but no reg although to be honest it ran on the nail keeping at 28fpe for a couple of hunting trips out so don't be too concerned about it being regged. Mine had a 16'' barrel which does less shots per fill compared to a 19'' barrel but I by far preferred the shorter length and balance. I sold mine as I am ALWAYS using my FX Impact fac, far far better but more money. Phil -
There was a P10 on here for sale which doesn't look like it sold so might be worth contacting the chap. Here are the details Phil

A very nice set up there matey. I have just put a Hawke Endurance 5-15x50 on my Anschutz 1417 .22lr and what a cracker, it will let light through way past what I have been able to get away with on any other scope but you have splashed the cash so enjoy. Phil

I have also heard the P15 to be a good gun and excellent value for money. Good luck with your search. Phil

Seriously bad news and as someone who finished having surgery to my back, I know the pain that can come from a back injury. I wish you a speedy recovery. Regards Phil

Standing at the pearly gates, which rifle ?
philpot replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
DITTO, FX Impact fac .25 for me too. A bit of a strange thought Mark, are you thinking of popping your clogs in the near future mate ???? Phil -
A T or XC 50 is not light in weight and will make a difference to the HW. To be honest my old HW100 was the reason I went for a Nitesite in the first place which really made a huge difference to the handling of the gun with a much lighter weight N|V system. Perhaps the range you have without any extra ir will be fine for you so I would run it like it is for the time being Phill and make a judgement call at a later stage. It may be worth getting in touch with LEDray to establish if they have a 940nan pill which is not shown on their page. I have the LEDray ir rechargeable kit which is

I have the Tracer ir and a T50 which double the Nitesite Viper with ease, in fact the Tracer on it's own is better than the Nitesite lamp. The T20 you sent was superb but it was a T38 lens on a T20 body I think Jimmy because the 'T' number is based on the lens diameter and that one is about 38mm. Cracking little torch though mate, really really good. Phil

I popped into my RFD today armed with my Anschutz .22 rimmy and a small selection of ammo. The range is only 25mt but it will do for a first test on the ammo which was Winchester subs 42gr, Eley subs 38gr and RWS subs 40gr. The RWS were clear winners with Eley close behind and let me put it this way ......................................... I will not be buying any more Winchester subs !!!!!!! I have to say that I have not tried the Winchester 40gr but to be very honest, the results gained with RWS today are excellent so now we need to test them at the 50mt that I use as zero distanc

Thank you for the feedback Phill, just not far enough for my needs with FAC so that one is out of the window. It has to be said that in many cases, the Nitesite units do not reach the distance they state and I have noticed a number of IR Torch makers do the same boasting greater range than can be attained. I confess that I find this bloody annoying after all we buy a product by the spec given for the product and despite me loving the Nitesite NV units, I do not think it is right to make claims that are nothing short of bullsh1te. I was interested in a Wolf unit but again feedback has show

Don't worry about setting zero at longer range because this gun with those pellets will give you a pretty flat trajectory, you might be quite surprised. I need to zero mine again as I am just messing with scopes at the moment but with zero at 25mt, I had half a mildot holdover at 65mt. That was on my Mamba Lite so not sure how will work on the Hawke Airmax. Phil

Thank god for that Mitch, I am so relieved after me saying over and over, go for the Impact. I am really pleased you can now see what I have been raving on about, this gun just feels right and just wait until you get on the bunnies. I take it that you have the extending shroud Mitch. Phil

How easy is it to get a 940 nan torch Phill. Phil
-
It seems that everyone's Compatto likes Bis Mags.
-
I have the same gun and pellets, superb combination, there is something more than that.
-
Have a word with Simon at ASI before you do anything else Mitch. These FAC versions are fcuking tack drivers so there is something not right. Still think it might be clipping. Did you take the shroud cap off to check for any clipping marks. Phil

What sort of range are you shooting using the RWS HV at on average.
-
Now their is a point Phil because 850nan is what is known as 'visible red' whereas 940nan is very very low visible end of the red spectrum. You would have to test it to see if the camera works with a standard 850nan light, I have a feeling whilst both are infra red, the wavelength may not allow a good image or even it blowing the image all together. I would make a quick phone call to Nitesite, I have found them to be very helpful on queries I have put to them. Perhaps a post on the 'Night vision forum' could be a good move or ask IanB on the 'Optics section of sporting guns. Phi

The CCI shells seem to be a real marmite product from what I can tell although a couple of guys were telling me that when they used HV ammo in their rimfires, CCI were the best of the bunch but I believe that was a few years ago. Do many people use HV instead of subs as a halfway house to either HMR or Hornet etc. Phil

Ah, the Dark Op's Viper then Phill, you are the first person I know to get one so I will be very interested to see what sort of distance it will reach and not just eye shine. I know the 850 nanometer has always had a better beam than the 940 nanometer light source so I will be most interested to hear how you go on with it matey. Phil
