That looks like you may have a solution Phill. Have a look on ebay or one of the airsoft sites for weaver/picatiny mounts as there are quite a few that we would not use in airgun shooting but nevertheless exist in other applications. I often find that I need to actually see a fitting to spark off an idea. Good luck with it Phil. Phil

Would the Nitesite scope mount fit the Photon tube then mount the rangefinder as normal.? If that is no good, it would be quite possible to cut off rangefinder foot and screw onto one of the many weaver fittings available on ebay. You just need to think outside the box Phill. My suggestion is to slide off the rangefinder mounting bracket then start searching the net for a fitting best suited to the job. Lastly, be prepared to bond the rangefinder directly onto a weaver fitting with a glue such as Gorilla glue which is a superb product. Phil

I think it was about four years ago, maybe five but as far as I know, they are still fundamentally the same gun, accurate as hell but a dog of a gun in my opinion. There are some people who are very happy with theirs but I know of a number of others that were not at all happy. As I said earlier, they may have changed but when a gun is made on the cheap, normally, that is how it stays unless the price reflects an upgrade ....................... NO, it doesn't look like it. Just save your money JF unless you feel this is the one for you, if so, good luck and enjoy. Phil

Lightweight pcp walker/ratter
philpot replied to ryaldinhio's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I think the issue is shot count when you are ratting as you can get through a lot of pellets on a good session. One other possibility is the HW110 which is lighter than the HW100 and has shot count of around 100 or the new HW110 Karbine which is a shorter version and lighter with really good balance. I think the shot count is around 70 for .177 so well suited for ratting. it is launched this month sometime but the price is not confirmed but around £700. I can tell you that Crawfords in Scunthorpe (01724 846 000) has a .177 and .22 on order and not far from you down the M180, I was in ther -
It's just a nasty rifle with a plastic stock. They do have a reg of some description but not a good one as many owners will tell you. I don't know if they are any better than when I had one but mine, like many others at that time, had power fluctuations. My rifle went down to 9fpe so I was forever chasing zero. They are front end heavy, barrel is too long, no mod so had to buy one, mag had issues sticking .......................................... and so it goes on. A rifle tuner of some standing said he had 6 of these in with power problems and was producing a decent reg as the ones

I noticed that three of the tins does say FAC pellets or 18.5fpe so perhaps the performance will improve with more thrust up their rear....... Phil

Sorry Mitch, this got a bit hijacked by me earlier mate. Looking forward to seeing the beasty and getting your feedback. Only seen the laminated stock which looked fantastic but perhaps not always practical around a farm, very pretty though. Try to get hold of some AA Field Heavy pellets 18gr, hit very hard in fac but not so easy to get hold of. If you want to try some, let me know. https://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/pellets-.22-air-arms/aadh22552-air-arms-diablo-field-heavy-pellets-[.22][5.52mm][250].html Phil

My pal has just paid for his Impact, his pockets are empty so no shared cost there.........................................................................back to the drawing board. Phil

Oh, that might be the way to go if I share the cost with my buddy, thanks Allan Phil

Hang on big fella.............................YOU DO NOT JUST HANG UP YOUR GLOVES. I know what you and Nicola have been going through Jimmy and you KNOW you have our very best wishes in this matter BUT you NEED to have a release from the pressure mate and shooting with Ethan and Sean, Simon, Allan etc is what has kept you sane so for heavens sake don't throw in the towel. I have not been in exactly the same place as you mate but not far away with my own son and the thing is, you and hopefully they, will come through this, please believe me Jimmy, it gets better but takes time and a whole

Has anyone used / owns one of these and if so are they any good. We want one to locate shot quarry, ie rabbits on stubble / grass and there is no way in hell am I ever going to have enough money to buy a Pulsar so I have to be realistic about these things and thought the Seek might be good enough to handle the job. https://www.scottcountry.co.uk/thermal-imaging/hand-held/seek-reveal-pro-hand-held-thermal-imager/ Phil

Not so easy to answer as we don't know what is available in the US. In the UK, there are many on ebay and most being made in China, named brands such as Hawke have a good name and I assume they are available in the US fitting into your budget. MTC have a rather clever rangefinder linking to your phone but far too clever for me. Phil

I have only looked through them at shows but to be totally honest, I was blown away a couple of weeks ago when I was looking through a Pulsar 355, amazing image quality and far better than the ATN - X 11 Just my opinion on first viewing. Phil

I know a number of lads on another forum bought these for close range vermin shooting on rats etc and the fact that it is a pcp, the temperature outside doesn't make much difference unlike Co2 power. https://www.solware.co.uk/smk-pp700w-pcp-air-pistol They modded them with scope, stock and mod. Redbeck in Wakefield do both and sell quite a fair number of both so you may get a deal there. Phil

The best one by far in my opinion and one I have used to help both my wife and others is the Beartooth comb raiser kit which comes with various foam infills allowing you to set the height very easily and accurately. I was going to loan mine to Si Brown to do some tests but seem to have loaned it out to someone, god knows who but if the lower scope mounts will not do what you want, these will. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beartooth-Black-Comb-Raising-Shotgun-Rifle-Kit-2-BT105/113164300470?epid=2256036108&hash=item1a591e30b6:g:UsEAAOSwF2xbVfXd Phil

I never said it was an Impact either, okay I said you will have a big smile on your face so everyone guessed AND YOU were the one to say you were getting an Impact so no good blaming poor old Mitch and myself....................................we are totally innocent...........................as always ?? Phil

I had the Rapid Mk2 .22, 28fpe, very accurate and heavy with little finesse, does the job but did nothing for me. It never came out of the cabinet after the Impact arrived as it was in a different league. Phil

You know, the real advantage of the FX system is the ability to slip on another barrel / cal in a couple of minutes so for about £350 you have a completely different operating system. Start with a .22 sub 12 and then in time upgrade to full FAC with whatever barrel combination you wish. My shooting buddy is in the process of selling my old Rapid fac and buying a s/h Impact sub 12 with both .177 and .25 barrels. The gun is now at ASI to be converted to full FAC keeping only the .25 barrel and selling the .177 barrel. This new generation of FX rifles are so designed for the hunter to gear e

I must admit that I was very taken with the idea of dialed in on FAC air as used by both Matt Dubber and Ted ......... (teds holdover) as they were using the MTC Viper Pro with the tape you can customise but I just thought perhaps too much farting around so left it alone. An interesting subject and one which perhaps one day I would try but not with Airmax scopes, not pronounced clicks to use in the field. Phil

Good opportunity and quick thinking matey, well done. Phil

philpot replied to vizlauk's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I do know someone who could be interested as he bought mine and loves it so if and when you decide, let me know and I will get in touch with him on your behalf if you would like me to Sean. Right I am off to catch the tide and have a few hours sea fishing. Phil
