  1. I agree with bigmac, A bit more in the kitty and go for a s/h Weihraugh HW100 or HW110 for that matter. Phil
  2. You will be very hard pushed to get better than AA Field 25.4gr. This pellet works superbly in fac and I recall reading on another forum that it seems to be the pellet of choice. Just bought a slab from Uttings as they had the best price and in stock. If you want some to try, pm me your name / address details and I will send some for you to try. Phil
  3. I was having a look at the laser units that were put forward by WJ as a means of scaring the birds away as they don't like the laser in their faces ................... well who would BUT farms that have tested these units are in various parts of the world are not quite the same landscape as here and I don't think any were tested here in the UK but I stand to be corrected if I have that point wrong. Now the greatest success was Texas, a huge totally flat land where you can see for miles with no stone walls, high hedgerows etc etc but even there they have to have a number of units in place at £
  4. Quote ''In an interview with the Radio Times ahead of a new series of Springwatch, the naturalist said that, while opposing various culling programmes he regards as ineffective, there are times when it is appropriate to selectively kill animals.'' He regards as ineffective ....................................oh well, thats okay then. Selectively kill animals, GIVE ME STRENGTH> Phil
  5. Slow down a minute Timmy I am NOT knocking the fact that this fool is saying cull more deer, I am saying as are others that he cannot just push for certain animals / birds to be shot when it suits his desire to save the nightingale for god's sake or anything else for that matter. Phil
  6. This fool is a legend in his own lunchtime.
  7. Hmmm, that would be a great pity and I doubt that will actually happen because taking this forum as an example, the friendships found and maintained with a number of us is not something that I would give up easily and that is for sure. I used to be involved in a couple of kayak fishing forums which have now almost died as most people have gone to face book instead but this forum is quite different even to other forums of a similar type and that is because we are pals, friends, mates or whatever you wish to describe us but we are NOT just a forum, this a something quite special and it will not
  8. More importantly, they are selling the FX Impact Mk2 at £1475.00 Phil
  9. I must say that I very very rarely post anything in the hunting section for that reason, that and the fact I never hit anything ?? Phil
  10. Sadly I agree and have taken the same stand point unless of course my perm farmers have indeed taken out the temporary license that was being offered by NE. Phil
  11. Don't know why the hell I said it was the Queen who presented the pratt when it was Charlie..........................ah yes of course, the queen did throw up so Charlie stood in for her as he has a stronger stomach. Phil
  12. Oh Mitch, now I feel green envy creeping up all over me. I could not afford to change mine but I must confess that I would love the new Mk2. I will and will not look forward to hearing what you think. Is the new 26 shot mag now standard with the new guns. Phil
  13. Shooting man's best friend Chris Packham was awarded the CBE by her majesty the Queen for services to nature conservation a few days ago. I bet the queen wanted to throw up giving this idiot the award. If ever there was an injustice, this is it. As a matter of interest, the CBE is the highest award you can be given, an absolute disgrace IMO. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-48295698 Phil
  14. WTF Mitch....................what are you doing.......................you can't sell it or are you sticking with the crown. Yes I will have it please as and when you sell the gun. Phil
  15. I couldn't quite tell how many pellets the mag .25 takes Mitch, I can see they do a 9 shot low profile for left hand shooters but how many pellets in the standard mag and what price are they please mate. Phil
  16. You might want to look at the newer FX Crown which has more technical features than the Royale but also has a higher price tag, it's down to budget really just be happy with your choice and enjoy the rifle. Phil
  17. Having spoken to BASC at Northern Shooting Show at the weekend, the ONLY totally safe way to shoot birds at the moment is by taking out an individual license which is taking approx one week but you will need to do one for every perm showing map references etc. At the moment Mark, unless you can SHOW EVIDENCE TO PROVE THAT ALL MEANS TO DETER THE BIRDS FROM THE CROP IS DONE, NO YOU CANNOT SHOOT THEM. It is a farce and I doubt if anybody at DEFRA, British Government generally, Natural England or even Wild Justice has any real idea of what can be done or not done. As I see it, there will be
  18. I am an FX fan having had four of them and use an FAC Impact in .25 now. I have not had a Royale but their reputation is excellent and one of our admin (IanB) has one in FAC which he loves. This rifle has been a very popular rifle in the USA although it is sold there in what we call FAC but it has a sound hunting history. FX are very accurate and I have no reason to think otherwise of this one. If the price is right and the condition is good, BUY IT. Is .177 cal good for hunting.......................................OH YES, it has a massive following on here and every other forum so
  19. When I was a kid, we used to buy what products were available and that meant only when they were in season but in reality I think the point is that our farming industry needs to be on top of their game as there will be either price hikes which in turn may well make some of these things difficult to buy in the shops. Mitch, please don't make the mistake of thinking I am a remainer because believe me I am NOT. Phil
  20. Totally agree Mark. I have shot many 100's of rooks back when I lived in Sheffield as they would do exactly what that video show, corvids are vile birds and it is vital their numbers are kept right down. Peole who throw verbal stones at shooters NEED to understand what the the hell the implications are before they fight with farmers and shooters. We are going through Brexit and if ever the farmers need support it is now because after we leave, it may not be so easy to walk into the local store and buy fruit and veg and many other overseas grown products when you want it so our farmers hav
  21. I followed your lead on that matter Mitch when I had the TX a couple of years ago and they were superb and when I eventually get a 57, that will be on them as well. Phil
  22. I had a chat with BASC at the Northern Shooting Show and asked why the hell did they not get involved before NE revoked the three GL's The response was that BASC were made aware of the demand placed on NE and were waiting for the dates to be confirmed for the various organisations to meet and talk the situation through, the call never came and the first thing they heard is what we heard and the same time. Link this with the fact that it is said that the Packman crew demanded changes for the GL's at the renewal date in 2020, so we can put this almighty mess at the NE management which I und
  23. Now that would be telling and as I have not decided yet, I will keep that to myself. ? Phil
  24. The bell target shooting that you came along to near Market Rasen is not far for you and now they have built up a league for team shoots and if it was closer, I would be involved but winter evenings on slippery roads is not for me. If the league gets going at my end, a quick drive down to Cleethorpes is a breeze. I might pop over and try the gun out today or tomorrow, just another wedge to hit the friggin pension. You know, being retired is great BUT the lack of a nice salary does hit you even though I have a private pension but cost of living etc etc etc ? Phil
  25. No, but I am just considering it at the moment because there is only so much I can do and the bell target group is starting in the Grimsby / Cleethorpes area so still early days on my patch. I would love it but not sure as yet.
