I was in the RFD the other day looking for a cheap semi auto 12 guage for using in the hide. My first thought was a Hatsan, tough and cheap and saves me taking an expensive clay gun in the field. I looked at a couple of Hatsans, one being new for £400 including a slab of cartridges and a gun slip so very good value but then one caught my eye called a Mistral by Filli Pietta. Now I am the first to admit that I had never heard of them but it did feel very nice in the shoulder in as much as an auto can feel good because to me they are always a compromise when you are an o/u user nevertheles

Just looking at Si photo, where could I get one of those black troughs from. I am guessing they are to mix cement in or something similar. They would be ideal for me to keep live shrimp in for bait, any suggestions welcome guys. Phil

Thankfully the rain stopped about 10pm and the tanker took 11 fills which equates to 27500 galls from the front and side of our cottage. we still have water across the garden but I am not too concerned about that. I just hope we get at least a full day of no rain to give the road gulleys a chance to run out to the sea wall. Having spent last Thursday night outside all night with the tankers pumping water away from our cottage......................................I have just made the call again for the tanker to come to the rescue. I am hoping we will keep on top of the problem because having lost the house for a year back in 2007, it is a horrific experience which I really hope we don't have to face again. I hope none of our members have been flooded and it stay that way. It is tricky mate, my shooting partner has an hmr who was also tempted to buy the Wildcat Panther which we were told WOULD reduce noise level but when talking to two different RFD's, they both said that the hmr round is supersonic and therefore it will not do a lot of good. My pal was going to get one on approval but nobody wanted to do that as they said it would be returned so no point. I also wanted a better mod for my .22lr when I use HV ammo but again was told not to bother as it was not worthwhile. The price indicated by Stavros at £80 for the DPT is not out of the way as the SAK is

My good friend and shooting partner has bought the Pard unit and today we went to the RFD's indoor range (25mt) just to have a play and set zero. Now the 008 is on his rimfire .22lr so we know 25mt is far too close to be of any use BUT it was warm and dry so a good place to start off learning about the Pard. I would say straight off that this in my mind is a really nice compact unit which is only around 500grms so lighter than most scopes. My pal and I are the wrong side of 50 (or in my case 60) so not too quick taking on new technology and with a rubbish manual chinese to english, we pic

Interesting Stav, I had not heard of the DPT mods so I looked up a few bits on youtube. At about £260, they sit approx £200 more than for example a SAK but is it worth it. Yes I agree with the Weihrauch is by far the best from ones I have had. I used to have an Ultra with a BSA mod which was nothing short of garbage so popped on a Swift Stumpy which was better but then put on the Weihrauch and instant silence. Phil

From what I understand Mitch, it doesn't make much difference whether you put on a £40 SAK or a £200 Wildcat as the shot goes out at about 3200fps so it is not going to quiet down that much. Perhaps some more experienced hmr users on here will advise differently but several very experienced rifle users at Forest Lodge told me that. Good luck with whatever you go for mate. Phil

I was talking to a chap in the rfd last week who along with his pal were using Neilson to very great effect in standard air rifles not slug liners, in fact I think they were using Rapid FAC in .22 and .25.
