  1. Ahh brilliant Mitch, thanks. Phil
  2. Thanks Graham but at this moment I will decline thanks, other things on the shopping list and as my wife and myself only use 12 gauge, not really suited but thanks anyway. Phil
  3. I also have a slot for a .22 barrel for the Impact which I was not going to bother with but a .22 barrel could be an interesting possibility although mine is not the 'X' barrel system so not sure where that puts me. I also think it is early days in the UK and other countries around Europe with slug / barrel / sleeve development so I will just hold back for now AND I have just bought the Tikka / scope but nevertheless interesting thoughts guys. Phil
  4. Quote :- cotton dale shooting ground im sure there is a live fire range as well Phil. That sounds interesting Si and you are quite right mate, here it is. https://www.shootingclubdirectory.com/listings/cottondale-shooting-ground/ I see they only allow fibre wad cartridges, bugger, I don't use them. Phil
  5. Will do Gav, the 019 is my shooting partner's and I believe the extra lenses were being delivered today so I am expecting a phone call to whizz up to one of our perms to check it out with the new additional lens / es. Phil
  6. Lost for words......................................................................................but made me laugh ? Phil
  7. Told you Daz, they will take the p1ss out of you as they do me.....................................how unfair to mock the ole tarts. ? Phil
  8. Thanks Ian, My pal has just ordered the 019 with lenses and an 008. I had a look through his 019 which arrived on Saturday and for sure it needs the extra lenses but what a nice little unit and weighs nothing. I am looking forwards to trying it out with the extra lenes in. Phil
  9. Brilliant day for you there Jimmy, I am pleased you had a good un mate. It was good to see you both albeit a little brief with si having to pop to a job and you getting stuck on the journey south, it is a rare thing for me to get to Si's house before you. I got home before the headlights went on so no problems with my eyes I am pleased to say. The Vanguard is spot on Jimmy, love it. Si is there any chance of making me one of those .223 squeekers please as we sort of got sidetracked. I think it would be good if we managed to have a clay session either at Humberside or that o
  10. I had a feeling that was the case Mitch. Oh well I will just have to wait until they do make .25 Phil
  11. Welcome to the forum Daz. You will have the p1ss taken out of you but you will get used to that, this is a close bunch of not just forum members but more than that, friends who will go the extra mile to help eachother out. For those of you that don't know Daz...................he and myself go back a few years now as we were mad keen kayak anglers and part of the admin team on a kayak fishing forum but sadly facebook has taken over so the forum lies quietly until some of us old handers visit. One of our fellow members in the kayak fishing forum is also now a keen air rifle shooter, Phil.H
  12. For those of you that do not have any experience with the Vanguard Porta Aim, like me until Jimmy handed one over to me on Saturday, they are brilliant. So stable, very quick to adjust and the drop magnet locking system is amazing. Just tried it laying prone on the patio.............................Jimmy, well impressed mate. Just as a quick test, I place the rifle under the strap and pulled it tight (ish) to see how easy it is to lift the Vanguard up with the rifle to change position if on a rabbit and providing the locking ring was nipped up, the stand just lifts with the rifle in
  13. Ohhhhh now that sounds most interesting. Who are you getting them from Mitch as I would like to try them out in my Mk1 Impact without the later series barrel. Phil
  14. Okay so I am getting old.......................................? Phil
  15. I have one spare BN which is fine for sub 12 distances but not really good enough for long range. here are a few photo's but the small ir torch is not included, the large one is. If it is of interest, I can send it up for you to play with and if you like it £60 Phil
  16. Just looked in my Hawke booklet Mark but it only shows the L4A which has faint full cross hairs, 3,6&9 o-clock short posts plus a red dot centre but no mildots as far as I can see. As Hawke have changed the Endurance to wide angle, perhaps the reticles have changed as well from the earlier series. Phil
  17. I was talking about the slug production with Jimmy and Si yesterday and it is most interesting that H&N are not producing the slugs in the pellet factory instead they are being manufactured in their live ammo unit as they of course are manufacturing slugs for that division on a daily basis. I will be very interested in your findings Mitch. After see quite a bit of footage from Matt Dubber regarding slug performance, it seems to be the way to go long term. Phil
  18. Yes thanks Daz, I have a Deben/Hawke bi-pod which is good but after meeting up with my chums, Si and Jimmy yesterday, I am most grateful to Jimmy for loaning me on long term his Vanguard Porta Aim stand which will do the job very well of that I am certain. Great to see you both yesterday guys and the sausage/bacon/black pud sarnie was magic Si. Hope you both had a good night last night. Phil
  19. A really good response Meece and I totally agree, it can be pain to load shotgun shells if you do not invest in a quality press with the odd production issue in the mix. Many many years ago when I used to reload all my shells as did most of my fellow gun club members, I started off with a low budget press that took an age to produce a box or two of cartridges but then invested in a Pacific press which was a much faster process although compared to the latest mec 9000 series it was still slower. I had been thinking about buying the above press but can I justify £800 on the basic outlay and was
  20. There is a case for both cals but by switching ammo in .22lr, you have a range from approx 950fpe to 1700fpe so a few mags with different shells and you are away. I know it is not that simple because of the scope setting but certainly two types are doable. A lot depends on the range you are shooting as well because the hmr will turn a rabbit inside out if you are too close but if you are wanting to take out a nice big hare at 150mt, the hmr will do the business. There is no correct answer as there is no wrong answer, it is down to how you as to which route to take. For me, the route I hav
  21. Hi Matt I know nothing about these guns I am afraid but I am sure one of our clever lads will be along soon. These guys might be able to help you. https://spares.bagnallandkirkwood.co.uk/prestige-2/prestige-kub-air-rifle-gun-spare-parts-list/ Phil
  22. Yes you are Mitch. They are prone to ricochet but if you are sure you have a safe zone behind the target, you are good to go. To jump in with an hmr is, to my mind, the wrong way round. Phil
  23. Go for the .22lr rimmy Mitch with subs and HV ammo to see where it fits in with your own demands, then if needed, get the .17hmr Phil
  24. What a nice offer, thank you. We are down in May for two weeks so I will get in touch nearer the time. Phil
  25. I have just heard that many people cannot see a sharp image due to focus on the screen so are Blackwood fitting the additional lenses to overcome these issues as I believe Custom Rifle Scopes sell a modified version. Phil
