  1. Mitch, Mark.........................................go forth and multiply, pair of barstewards. ? Phil
  2. Thanks Mitch I have spoken to a guy who uses these along with his pals in various rifles but the guy I spoke to uses them in a Rapid and R10. I did look at buying some a while ago but I think they were about £30 a box. To be honest, having read what you said regarding the need for a slug barrel which is also stated on Ratworks website, I do wonder if what I was told was in fact bullsh1t. I doubt that I am likely to jump into buying a slug barrel Mitch as I want to see how things develop over the next twelve months BUT if I am able to use the FX slugs in my none 'X', none liner barrel
  3. Quote:- SOME OF US ARE BLOODY GOOD AT FIELD CRAFT AND CAN GET WITH IN 30 40 YRDS EASILY Mark will be along soon ? Phil
  4. Now partly because I am not as young as I would like to be and partly because my knees are a bit knackered, I by far prefer to shoot in an elevated position rather than prone although despite what some of you buggers may think, I can get down and shoot prone........................getting back up, hmmm. I use at times my trigger stick tripod and also take a fold up camping table if we are doing some pellet tests or zero tests on the farm. I would like a Caldwell shooting bench / seat is way too expensive at £350ish but today I have just seen that MTM Casegard have a portable and adjustable sh
  5. A bit more info and performance from Matt Dubber on the FX Hybrid slugs. https://www.airgun101.com/index.php/component/allvideoshare/video/new-hybrid-slugs-review-first-hunt?Itemid=307 Phil
  6. Have a look at the 110k (compact), 100% Weihrauch, 100% HW accuracy, 100% reliable but weighs in at 2.6kg. Put on a lighter scope, I use an original Mamba Lite, 3.1kg all up weight so very comfortable to walk round with all day. If you put on a Pard 008 day / night scope, you will finsh up with a total weight of just over 3kg. Phil
  7. My old HW100 .177 loved Bisley mags, can't comment on the Venom. Phil
  8. Yes mine and Trish's Xmas present arrived a short while ago ...................................................... really exciting.........NOT. Our new central heating boiler is here ready for installation tomorrow so no chrissie pressies for us this year but at least we will have a nice new effecient boiler to keep us warm this Christmas instead of our aging old boiler. Oh well such is life and who wants a pard 008 anyway ? Phil
  9. If that is your local rfd..............................lucky fella. Phil
  10. The reality Sean is that for the most part, it can. Phil
  11. Your standard barrel is an 'X' barrel though Mitch, mine is not and that is what I need to establish.
  12. You are forgetting Mitch, I have been using fac air for over 4 years so I know the benefits but I am totally ignorant regarding slugs and have much to learn but the flexibility I was referring to was ammo available. As an example, I doubt I will use too much subs as the appeal of the med power HV at around 1200fps or jumping up to 1650fps when needed. I have bought my Tikka for a reason and think it will get less use than my Impact but nevertheless it has it's place, the hmr on the other hand doesn't offer that much to me and is bloody noisy to boot which is why I have not bought one yet
  13. I want the hollow point but thanks for that, I will have a look. Phil Just looked but never heard of them, perhaps worth a tenner to have a go but I bet they are similar to H&N Grizzly which were sh1te in my Impact barrel.
  14. I do believe that in many cases, fac air with or without slugs will do a great deal towards equaling the effect in the field on rabbits and similar but it is the flexibility of load in a .22lr that gives the advantage. Wind resistance is something we will learn about as time goes buy and I have .25 slugs to try. Phil
  15. Looks like they are seriously affected by wind similar to pellets but whether they will be better than a .22lr is somthing we won't know until we have some to test. Phil
  16. Not that I am interested in seeing sparrows being shot, it does show these slugs in action. https://www.airgun101.com/index.php/component/allvideoshare/video/new-hybrid-slugs?Itemid=456 Looks like it might be available early next year in .25 ........................................ I hope. Phil
  17. Just seen this one on my 'Airgun 101' email but not watched it yet, it has my interest though. Phil
  18. Just heard the other day of two chaps who tried the Hades in sub 12 and the they were really pleased with the result. I am going to get some to try in my 110k as an alternative to JSB RS for use on the rats and ferals. Phil
  19. The 22lr will have the potential for ricochet Mitch but thats is where backdrops and safe distance come in to play but don't over think it. I have gone a bought another rimmy simply because most of our perms are on the Lincolshire wolds and prone to winds which at times can be a real pain, the rimmy with hv ammo or subs can give an advantage over the pellet. the other reason is that we have one farmer who is seriously pestered by hares when the sugar beet starts to show and whilst my .25 fac Impact will stop one, I prefer to use the 40gr slug as a better stopper than the 25gr pellet on hares.
  20. Last week we had a sparrow hawk stripped loads of feathers from a pigeon on our lawn, I disturbed it and it flew off but there was no damage that I could see in terms of the hawks attacks just a pile of feathers. Phil
  21. They are fantastic, I would love one for bell target shooting. Phil
  22. I know there has been some recent posts on the products available but this is a thread to find companies providing a service. There were loads of companies offering this service but over the years many seem to have dropped away. I am looking for any company you may know of that reblues shotguns please. Phil
  23. If you are young and fit and have time on your hands, buy one but if like me..........old, fat, out of condition, lazy and never enough time or drive to pump a rifle ............................................................................................................................................... buy an air cylinder and get a life ? Phil
