  1. Yes I noticed you are in Cornwall AFTER I posted the above comment. Senior moment agai. Phil
  2. Yes Mitch and a good friend is bringing one down for me to borrow this weekend. They look ideal for my intended use. Phil
  3. Must admit the .22 WMR appeals to me more than a .17HMR although I know the .17 has the better trajectory .................................. hmmmmmm Phil
  4. Not actually seen one but here is a review for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5kRu78iYN8 To be honest it looks to be an ideal garden rifle for plinking and with the break barrel looking very easy to cock, may be well suited to kids as well. I don't think you could take this gun as a serious hunting rifle but for fun and coming in at £150 or there abouts including a scope and in some cases a gun slip as well, it seems to be good value. Please note that the shroud on the barrel is for cosmetic function only as the barrel runs to the end of the shroud so no sound supression.
  5. Thanks FF, I am hoping to get a tilt and swivel, I don't think the Blackhawk has that but certainly worth a look. Phil
  6. I do visit and fish the waters around Southwold to Aldeburgh two or three times a year and believe me your sea colour doesn't compare with the Humber but nevertheless it is possible to fish with lures in gravy coloured water but nowhere near as successful as clear water. I have caught many bass at Sizewell area and some great cod sessions at Dunwitch with bait and some bass and mullet at Southwold area on lures. We stay at John Bidwell's place, Highlodge. Great clay shooting, fishing with sea fishing only 10mins away. LOVE SUFFOLK.................... Phil
  7. I have several bi-pods, an Atlas copy which is crap and a swivel/tilt Deben which is spot on but at 6-9'' it is too short. I was testing my Tikka with some new ammo today but my bi-pod is just too short so I want to get another or lowish stand of some kind but what to get. I should say that we tried the Trigger stick tripod at it's lowest level but it simply is not suited to shooting so low. The cost of many of the pods used on the American youtube footage is really expensive (£250-450) which is way out of my reach so I want something that I could use for in the field target and rabbit shooti
  8. There is a company in East Yorks called 'Clay and Game' who are specialists in reloading with all the equipment and supplies, I would give them a call as they WILL tell you if it is cheaper to load your own. I spoke to them a while ago and they said .410, 28 and 16 bore would be cheaper to home load but it is worth checking as it is a couple of years ago and things do change. Good guys. https://www.claygame.co.uk/reloading-tools-p98 Phil
  9. I was only out to 66mt today as the ground was very uneven and I had only got a 6'' bipod so seeing the target was tricky, linked to that the wind was getting stronger every minute. Normally we take a table and chair to set up a decent shooting position in the quarry but we couldn't do that today. My groups were about 1'' at 66mt but laying on the ground was not very comfortable trying to see through the scope in what was bloody low sight position. Let us just say they show good promise and I will be doing some more tests hopefully next week other wise as I am going into hospital for an e
  10. You got it. I bought them from Forest Lodge Guns in Wragby, Market Rasen, Lincs if that is anywhere near you. I have not seen them in another two RFD's but I am sure plenty of others will have them. Phil
  11. Not sure if my hearing has gone the same way as my eye sight BUT I am certain I heard the weather forcaster say that we can expect SNOW in northern areas this Friday / Saturday. I ran into the room where the TV was on and sure enough it looked like North Yorks up to Durham area may be white over soon. Was it one of my senior moments guys or did any of you see or hear this. If true, it could be trouble Si.........................? Phil
  12. I must admit that nowadays I enjoy lure fishing more than bait fishing but with water like bisto here on the Humber, little chance of that although when I used to do a lot of kayak fishing, bass would take a trailing lure whilst paddling to the mark that I was going to fish at anchor. Phil
  13. I bought a pack of the above rimfire shells to try out in my Tikka Tx1 and today I gave them a run. They sit at 1160fps which is certainly faster than RWS Field Line subs but not as fast as CCI Stingers (1640fps). The tests today were very limited as both time and conditions were against me but on the somewhat brief test, I have to say that the RWS served me well in the past and my go to sub shell but I rather like these Hornady shells, not too noisy and certainly less noise than the Stingers along with being a smoother shell to use. I need to get plenty more sho
  14. There is a shop in Halesworth, Suffolk called Richardson's which is a real traditional gunsmith where extensive repairs are done as well as building new guns, a phone call to see if they have the parts would be worthwhile. Good luck with it. Phil
  15. Really enjoyed the vid, nice result and it does make me wish I still had a boat. Phil
  16. Cracking, one of my favourite freshwater species, well done. Phil
  17. Looks great, I have only fished there once many years ago and caught a sunfish ............................... surprised the hell out of me, someone else told me what it was as I didn't have a clue. I envy you having such a brilliant venue like Chesil on your doorstep. Phil
  18. To old and fat to handle the rocks or at least getting on and off the rocks. Love that sort of fishing but sadly in Lincolnshire where I live it is easy fishing out of the car on the sea wall but very boring to catch flounder in the summer and whiting with a few cod in the winter. I love fishing in Anglesey as there are plenty of different varieties of fish, bait or lure, it's all good. Enjoy the time with your son, it is surprising how quickly they grow up and only want girls and booze so make the most of it and take a ladder with you ? Phil
  19. Looks quite handy, well spotted, I might have a go with one of these. Phil
  20. That looks a nice unit ..................very nice. Phil
  21. The first pheasant feeder went out today, about 30mt from one of the squirrel feeders. We have not bothered with feeders before but as there are some changes to some of our perms, we are setting out a number of both squirrel and pheasant feeders on about six sites so we will see how things work out. Phil
  22. Are you mixing the wheat with the nuts Mitch. 300kg, wow that some serious stock. We will be using wheat for the pheasant feeders not the squirrels. Phil
  23. Just been back and picked up two more sacks, well at this price.........................................it would be rude not to ? Phil
