  1. Very handy SD. I have on a number of times nearly bought a 3 bore garden gun for close up vermin but just never got round to buying one but this combination seems to work well for you, not so good for the tree rats. Phil
  2. I bought a semi auto shotgun a couple of weeks ago and having a need for lubrication on the bolt system, I started a search. Shotgun cartridges can leave residue which would stick to any oil, grease, silicone spray coating causing in effect a grinding paste so the need to find a dry lube has had me researching products available. Okay this is not the powder burner section but nevertheless there are applications for air rifles as well, in fact anywhere you think dry lube will benefit your equipment. The product I eventually bought is the one in the photo and I can tell you, I am impressed,
  3. The maize is free from a friend and the peanuts are those sacks from B&M mixed with some very cheap bird seed and a little bit of wheat, again free so all in all not so expensive and only have to fill it once a week. Only draw back is the need for a ladder to reach the bloody top to fill it Phil
  4. The only company that I know of to sell such small bottles are Best Fittings who do a 1.1lt cylinder but at a hell of a price, it would be much cheaper to buy a Stumpy Jack 3lt which are ideal for carrying in the car. https://www.bestfittings.co.uk/product-category/airgun-charging-equipment/cylinder-accessories/airgun-charging-cylinders/ Hope that helps Phil
  5. Fantastic guys another good night. Phil
  6. As far as I can tell, they are not coming out in .177, I think mainly because there are very very few fac .177 rifles out there and whilst I have a sample of .22 Hades to try in sub 12, I don't really think they will be any good with that power level. Phil
  7. What is your zero distance Mitch. Phil
  8. Today my pal and I went to alter the position of one of the feeders so that our little resident muntjac cannot reach. this one is a little longer and will hold about 7ltrs of feed. After we had finished with the chores, we scaled the very steep and muddy banking that seperates the two quarry areas by using a rope to pull ourselves up. Now those of you who know me, are aware that I am built for comfort whereas my shooting partner is like a bloody mountain goat so I sent him up to scale the bank and I used to rope, but I did it in style ? Now with the rope we were a
  9. Oh yes........ They over print text on a four colour base which makes it very tricky to read and as some magazines do this a lot, I simply don't buy those mags anymore. I think it is known as old mans syndrome ? Phil
  10. Kept that bugger quiet Si.................? Phil
  11. Just watched 'Ted's Holdover' on Airgun101 as he was using the FX Hybrid slugs and he stated he will be testing them in all the FX barrel combinations including the standard Smooth Twist like mine so that is worth looking out for. I rate Ted's approach to his testing as I do Matt Dubber and despite some who say they only favour FX, well that may be true but they show what is possible and I do not believe they fudge the results, that is just bullsh1te. https://airgun101.com/index.php/component/allvideoshare/video/my-turn-fx-hybrid-slugs-field-test-revolutionary-air-rifle-ammuntion?Itemid=3
  12. Well we will wait and see but I am not farting around ordering from abroad so when they and FX slugs are available here, I will buy some to test. Phil
  13. Yes you can but as SD says, a long queue to the ammo manufacturer.
  14. Never seen one with a laminated stock before but I have to say, it is a pretty little thing for sure. https://airgun101.com/index.php/component/allvideoshare/video/weihrauch-hw30s-177-review?Itemid=436 Phil
  15. Or leave them as fox / crow bait. ? Phil
  16. I believe it is still VERY early in slug development for air rifles and although I cannot afford to throw money at the latest liner/barrel combination, I am happy to watch from the side lines so that if one particular aspect strikes me as being suited to me without the initial outlay of the above, then I would try it but if the cost of slugs is going to be silly, then I may well just stick to pellets which have worked well so far and then get the powder burner out if needed. Phil
  17. A few weeks ago a chap came into the rfd with a buggered barrel from a faulty hmr shell so there are still a few incidents still popping up every now and then. This was one of the reasons I didn't jump into the hmr and was more interested in .22wmr, not as flat a trajectory but not as much to go wrong. Phil
  18. I set zero at 65mt but with the constant rain and other commitments I have done very little with my Tikka so cannot really comment Mitch. I need to get some time to carry out more testing with vatious ammo and ranges. Phil
  19. In the case of the Hornady I quoted earlier, HP is hollow point and they are classed as HV but not as fast as some which can be upto around 1650fps. Phil
  20. I got my first gun license at the age of 14, ten shillings from the post office but that was almost 54 years ago and I am pretty certain that as with most things in life, there will have been many changes. To be 100% certain, call BASC or look through the pages of their web site. Phil
  21. I think I am lucky because the two rfd's I visit have taken stock so I will be picking some more tomorrow. If you are near to North Lincs SD, I can put you on to them, can't help you though Mitch. Phil
  22. Thought that might be the case. Phil
  23. As a matter of interest Mitch, why do you need a scope rail on the Tikka, is it for a Pard or Pulsar nv. My pal uses the Hornady and finds them to be very accurate and whilst you are there try some Hornady Varmint Express, copper plated HP .22lr. I must admit a liking for them, louder than subs but not bad, 1160fps. Phil
  24. To be honest, I am quite happy with the JSB RS but as we all get curious from time to rime and linked to that, I only use the 110k at short range, not because it is no good at distance but my go to rifle is the Impact .25 fac so no reason to use the 110k. My thought was that at closer range, would the Hades perform better in terms of opening up it's nose. I have ordered a sample just to try and will proberbly do nothing more than that. I do think that these pellets along with slugs are for fac rifles which have a much bigger market in many countries around the world but sadly not the UK.
