  1. No hard hat needed as I totally agree. It is very easy to suddenly rush into buying a new gun when you may not need to JUST YET. Once you have sorted the scope mount so that the scope sits nice and flat on the scope tube, go back to one of my earlier comments and practice, practice and then practice some more until you are as good as the rufle will allow. During that time you can test a few pellets and in particular, light pellets such as JSB Exact RS, Air Arms Express and Falcon Accuracy Plus because in my limited experience with springers, the best groups were with light pellets. Se
  2. JSB Heavies and Biz Mags were by far the best groups in my HW100 .177, the lighter pellets were just not very good in that barrel but it was the only gun that had that issue. Phil
  3. Nice going Stav. The second photo is a nice composition mate but the first has some old bloke getting in the way. ? Phil
  4. Many a true word spoken in jest me thinks ole dukzz
  5. I understand it is big writing Dave so you should be okay ? Well done mate Phil
  6. Firstly, welcome to the forum. It is most interesting that this gun was made by your family and I hope J33ry decides to sell the gun to you as that would be the very best move for both of you. Thank you for posting. Phil
  7. Make a mental note ................................................. look into fox calls. I am a retired old fart so expensive ammo is not on my hit list at all but if I use enough ammo to make it viable, I will look into reloading and that is something I would really enjoy, takes me back to when I used to reload all my shotgun shells. I feel that I have hijacked this thread so I am sorry for that, I should start a new thread, sort Phil and his foxes, hmmm Phil
  8. We were out tonight on two farms and saw five foxes in total but not .22lr fodder with a range of 135 - 180mts.
  9. Keep an eye on the sales section and don't rush into any purchase. Phil
  10. I don't know this gun at all so cannot pass comment but I will say if I were you, try to find a pcp with a good shot count per fill so that the demand for air is not so bad although I will stay that without doubt a dive cylinder is both very fast to refill the rifle and no effort to do it. It is all down to budget and how much you want to spend. It is quite possible that someone on here may have something to fit both your pocket and requirement. A rifle that might be just right for you is the Walther RM8 which I have had and dislike but that was the early ones and I understand they are
  11. The Lincolnshire wolds so hills and sweeping valleys along with large flat areas, some woodlands, a wooded / grassed quarry and river banks. Most of the land is arable with little live stock apart from a couple of smaller farms. In other words a real mix of landscapes which again makes my head spin as to what is better suited. Phil
  12. I find this subject most interesting as I am toying with getting a suitable gun for the job however after reading all this, I think I will stick to the .22lr for the time being. I had the thought of going for a .223 and hoping to go and have a look at Si Brown's Sako next weekend. I did have an interest in a .22wmr rather than an .17hmr. Like everyone else, when you venture into an area that you have not done before, there are always the question of gun suitability for the job in hand and I have never shot foxes before but we now have so much land with foxes on that it is something we nee
  13. At the top of the page, left of forum is clubs. https://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/clubs/ Phil
  14. I would say yes it is worth changing the gun as there are some very good springer rifles and ones that can be tuned to perfection. I will leave it to our springer specialists to suggest which one although it is worth visiting the dealer to look at which you like but I will say Weihrauch HW series and Air Arms are possibly the highest rated. I can't tell you about the seals as I don't use a springer. You could of course go for a pcp rifle as an alternative to a springer. Phil
  15. Well I can tell you straight away that the pointed pellets are not very good (I am being very polite), they are rubbish and want throwing away, the vast majority of hunters use domed diablo pellets such as Air Arms Field pellets or JSB Exacts or similar. Phil
  16. Whilst in the rfd today, I was chatting to a guy who advised me that a new 300mt range very close to Humberside Airport had beed given the go ahead. It is not known at this moment when the range will be ready and what form it will take, ie day ticket or annual club membership but I believe it has been passed for a wide range of calibres. When I know more, I will post it on here but perhaps not so good if you don't live in or near North Lincs. Phil
  17. There you go Daniel, I told you that it would be worth you getting involved in the airgun section and I hope you take on board some of the things my good friends on here tell you. It may be worth saying where abouts you live, not your address but what area / county as there may be someone on here that might offer you some help, or to try a different rifle as an example, just a thought. Phil
  18. Ah I see you have found us in the right section for you Daniel. Daniel is 14 years of age guys using a Webly Exorcet springer who ws looking for advice on his future gear and what to go for so I suggested he joined us here to give him sound advice but at the same time said that I was not the man to advise on springers. With all that in mind guys, let us try to offer this young man some guidence as I know you lot will. Both Simon and Mark above use springers for hunting more than most people and will offer very valid advice. I have seen how good a shot Pianoman (Simon) is and believe
  19. Have you tried them Mitch or are they not available yet. Phil
  20. Try loads of different pellets to see what gives you the best groups, well worth the time spent. Phil
  21. I agree with Mitch but if you want a bit more info, it may be worth getting touch with IanB on here as he shoots the Royale. We do have an FX owners section if you want to have a look although it is not over used but you never know. The FX owners is in the ' Clubs ' section at the top of the page listings. Phil
  22. It may be worth checking with ' Shooting Clubs Directory ' to find out if there are any target shooting clubs you may not be aware of. https://www.shootingclubdirectory.com/ Phil
