  1. saw a couple of nice terriers from them lines on a farm whilst i was working up the east coast. nice sort.
  2. should make for an interesting topic. http://www.dogworld.co.uk/product.php/149438/34/jack_russell_s_proposed_standard_released_by_kc and for there next trick. maybe the patterdale.
  3. this lad was showing signs of going off the rails so i bought him a ferret took him out a few times and he spent a few years in the fields. away from buckfast and drugs and grand theft auto. sadly a couple of years ago he found girls. now its morgages and cars. jobs a good un.
  4. have a good christmas everyone. works night out on saturday. god help us
  5. not all plummers are kept or bred for the money fella. my best plummer cost me 100 smackers. and was delivered half way. not much more than the price of fuel. my little crossbred was gifted. i try not to get involved in the bickering that comes with plummers so the way i see it other folk can do/charge what they want it dont affect me or others with the same frame of mind
  6. cheers folks. he has seen a bit but hasnt done anything yet. everything is in place with this lad. he has been crunching rats since he was a few months old and has been pegged back on a few outings but he is a noisy fecker. so ive had him out with my russell bitch and my old plummer . three outings this season two blank and one wash out. he only needs a few under his belt as its his first season and he will be primed for next year. that was the original plan so fingers crossed he comes good.
  7. max is now in his first season but has only been out proper a handfull of times due to a few setbacks. and injury. he is however now fully fit and mature. he isnt as big as i expected and has turned into a fine dog. his temprement is good with other dogs and folk and is a pleasure to own. however due to his lay offs his recall has all but gone so is back on the leash untill i can get it sorted he is a manic hunter with a real good nose on him so once he gets something up he just fecks off. had him out today for a few hours. half of them spent looking for the wee cnut. anyways the future
  8. for wildlife you will be looking for 2 or 300mm. at least. . i have a 55-200 and a 70-300. both these are budget lenses and do a job for me but you have to remember that the longer lenses introduce camera shake so a tripod or monopod will be helpfull. the 18-105 will probably get most of your pictures. hand held.
  9. nice to see the artist side of you paulus.
  10. ive ran out of likes. top notch pics .
  11. get well soon fella. and a very merry christmas to you and your family.
  12. ive seen one from the oc stuff to ground a few times and it done what was expected of it. why whould you say they are shite if you havnt seen one dug to. genuine question. ? i wouldnt slate anything i hadnt seen work with my own eye's. good little allrounders plummers. from working stock of course
  13. a handy tool is a good rat dog. in the right hands that is. probably wasted on most though
  14. got mine now. i have to say i am a guillable. but i'm happy with the camera. now i have to read the manual that is around the same size as a feckin phone book.
  15. thats not a lo to pay for a very good little dslr camera. good luck with it.
  16. There not hunting dogs, thank you for your opinion. Both are pets so like everyone else's pet dog they run around without a lead on. Where I walk them is in a forest,I've come across these a few times so asked the question to people who would no because I was interested to no what they were. it wont matter if they are pets they will be took off you fella. we arnt having a go at you. its for your own good and to help you protect your dogs . however its enirely up to you
  17. i wouldnt be standing there with two dogs off the leash taking pictures to put up on the web. if you are not sure about these things you are better to keep your dogs on a lead and stay back from any hole that you think is big enough to allow a small dog to enter. and make sure you get yourself up to date on these matters. or you could end up with your two dogs took off you by the rspca. and that can end real bad for boy and dogs. if you are interested you will learn. best learning the easy way and take the advice off folk on this thread. also if your dogs run free maybe think of getting a lo
  18. the best bite is surely the bite that all canines where given by thousands of years of selective breeding and natural culling. what bite does our terriers ancesters have. nobody is saying that a slight underbite stops a dog from working. and i doubt it will give them any banefit so why breed away from the correct bite that canines where given by nature. ? and its nothing to do with showing its more to do with facing a problem in most folks lines.
  19. why is that ?. never saw it. i just got caaght up in the hype i think and wanted one so it was as good an exuse as i needed lol. might get a lens in the january sales though.
  20. very arty farty them paulus. another string to your bow
  21. fault. Whats the fault, in working dog terms? undershot is one word for a problem that can range frome minor. ie. level bite or slightly undershot. to badly undershot. where the bottom jaw protrudes further. this to me would be a real problem as it will get damaged during work. loseing teeth faster. if your bottom jaw stuck out two inch farther than your top would you take up a career as a boxer.
  22. if you want sound working stock you breed away from faults like bad mouths. most of them will work fine with no problems at all. but if they are badly undershot then that can be a problem. and teeth are the first thing to suffer. one of the most inportant things on a worker is its teeth so its best to breed for a good bite. once a reccessive fault is in your terriers it will be a real difficult thing to get out. give them a good full working life then stamp on there arse (not to be bred from) . its worth bareing in mind that if you have a pup with a bad mouth then both parents are carrying th
