The pomp and ceremony, the soldiers marching and bands playing is all factored in. The soldiers, politicians , officials all get paid wether the queen dies or not.

All the cannons firing, bands marching etc is already accounted for.

Much loved lady the world over, I saw people in tears this morning, massive crowds outside the palace, but you could sense it was an occasion when history was changing, as you say..... End of an era.

I'm sure you know, mate, I'm not a "conformist", but when some shithouse complains about the cost of burying our queen, wether you agree with the monarchy or not, sticks in my craw.

You and I , I'm quite convinced, have seen, and know more of the world than these internet experts who's only knowledge is gained on google, YouTube and Wikipedia.

Maybe I'm getting a bit too emotional, I blame the bottle of home made plum vodka !

I don't get emotional often, but when I heard the old lady had passed I felt a tear in my eye and a sense of loss, enjoy your evening charts

Very similar to my point of view. Harry spent alot of time with hunt terrier men during his troubled years. Not one of the hunt staff or farmers betrayed his trust or went to the papers. And now we need help, both in the countryside and as an English nation, we have nothing in return....he wouldn't be seen supporting us in anyway. Same goes for the rest of the monarchy.

Had no choice but to try and watch today's events on TV. One thing pissed me off and another I found dumbfounding.

Pissed off - Our new PM thinks the country directly north of England is called Scollan, even after the King was trying to help her by always pronouncing the word Scotland correctly.

Dumbfounded - Coldstream Guards re-enacting the momentous moment in British history when Charles II returned to England with a tin pot army to be met by General Monck. Would he be "driven back into the sea" or welcomed? The people on ITV no idea what was happening or the significance of it. I could be wrong, my dad was switching between Friends, Judge Judy and BBC but it looked like that to me.

We complain that the history and fabric of our country is disappearing before our eyes, then complain about an imaginary cost for the funeral of the true person that attaches us all to that history... I'm not a royalist (at least i never thought I was)... but this is the very thing that sets our nation apart... I'm a quiet nationalist I guess....

We took my lad surfing today, up to North Devon, and the main topic of conversation was obviously the death of the Queen... my Mrs was raised in a royalist house, her mother is eighty now and a real royalist... my Mrs has shed a couple of tears and wants to go to London next week and pay her respects... my kids don't get it, and my nieces are a little too outspoken about their feelings of the royal family (based on little knowledge imo)... we are losing any sense of national pride and I can see it in my own family... times are changing and the youth will have no ties to what we seen as Great Britain and thats quite sad imo

Don't disagree with you there but I don't see how pointing out the mammoth costs involved is an issue. That's real life. Age doesn't always bring wisdom, however accepting the facts as they are does help in aiding one to gain a better grip on things and a reality check when such events occur.

Great Britain has changed beyond all recognition and I know your not to blame for that, our leaders and those in positions of power are responsible as well as our monarchy who have chosen to keep silent and carry on for their self interests. Simple. 

She lived a long, luxurious and privileged life. Good on her

What beach did you go to mate? Plenty of surf? Seen motorway was shut earlier hopefully you didn’t get stuck in that.

Came up the old road mate, we live Crediton side of Exeter... ended up on Saunton, looked at Croyde but surf was better at Saunton...

He was in for 2 hours... I won't go into it but, he forgot his wetsuit so I had to give up mine...  16 year old lads eh!!

Ive been hunting with lads half my age who knew twice as much as me, and there are plenty on here who I've been out with that will tell you that I've said, when I've been invited onto their ground ;" if I'm doing something I shouldn't be, please tell me, and if I'm not doing something I should be , please tell me " .

Ive lived a life full of great ups and enormous downs, but I get on with it....I understand there are things beyond our ken, as the scots say, but that's life.

Coming out with conspiracy theories, which, may I add, have some basis In fact, have no place on a hunting site, in my mind. Much like disrespecting an old woman who has just died.

Ive never read a post of yours that concerns dogs or field sports.....but that's your perogative, I'm a huge fan of free speech, and it's my choice, as it's everyone else's, wether they agree or disagree with you view of the world .
